Wearing a wig for 1st time!

My OH had a Nigerian live-in carer at one time. When she arrived her hair looked so fabulous - a fashionable cut with a blond streak. Then I met her on the way to the loo in the night - almost bald!! But she had several really brilliant wigs - and there is no way you could have known that they were not her own hair. She looked great.

NHS wigs can indeed be quite pricey Framilode. You will find wigs of varying prices on Amazon, not quite the same as try before you buy but, if you really don’t like it, you can always return it. Good luck, I hope you find something which makes you feel less fed up. ?

My friend has had thin hair since we were at school. After several years caring for her bedridden husband the stress had left her nearly bald. She has two wigs in different styles and always looks great. I get quite jealous because she only has to put one on and she's ready I seem to spend ages on my hair in comparison.

Thx for supportive comments- my daughter thought it was great. She said it was how I used to look before I lost so much hair. Now to face the world!!!

My friend has three, on the NHS, as her hair is thinning on top, in the last year they’ve really boosted her confidence.

I would be interested to know where you got the wig from. I am thinking of doing the same but can't find one at a reasonable price that would look realistic. I am fed up with my life being dominated by my hair or lack of it.

You are not alone BrandyGran. A close friend’s hair was thinning so much, she had the same idea, but unsure if a wig would look too obvious or silly. Once she got used to wearing it, and realised how good it looked, it has been a definite confidence booster and she also looks so much happier.

Oh yes - wear it with pride.
I wore a wig for a long time after chemo. In fact is was similar to my own hair but much better.
Everyone told me it looked very natural.
The only thing was that on occasion I treated it like a hat and kept pulling it down!!

I wore a kind of stocking cap underneath and a band. It helped to keep it in place.

Remember that well - treating it like a hat I mean. Not a great look is it ?

In my case it was due to chemo. so slightly different scenario as bald was not quite the look I was going for.
Took a time to get used to but loved the fact everyone assumed I had just been to the hairdresser. Hair grew back of course but I still use my wig occasionally , looks far better than my own !
