The weather is set okay
in others words it should be dry and very little rain is due.
I am just thinking I might not have enough time to do all things I want to do over the three days.

BigBertha1 Thu 26-Aug-21 22:05:12

We are going for a drive in the country Wales wards on Saturday, the Game Fair at Knutsford on Sunday and a fun golf comp on Monday

Whatdayisit Thu 26-Aug-21 22:09:55

We went to Formby today and it was wonderful. Not that busy. Parked easily. Beautiful beach.
Working 6pm friday till 6pm Sunday.
But no alarm Monday morning. The last time till Xmas day I don't have to set the alarm at 4.20am to see to GCs. Work at 10am. What is a Bank Holiday?

NfkDumpling Thu 26-Aug-21 22:16:55

We don't go far on bank holidays and prefer to leave it to the visitors. And anyway the forecast for my bit of England isn't brilliant. Mostly grey and dreary with a northerly breeze making it ever so slightly chilly. Not beach weather.

BH is just another day - only because the children and their young families will be out at fun fairs and the like. I'm too old to be running around those places - that's how I comfort myself, because they haven't asked me to join them anyway ?

Going nowhere over the BH weekend! One of the (many) joys of retirement is having the freedom to go out and about at less busy times & thus to leave the BH to those people who really need a break. We shall be pottering & gardening. Time for hobbies & relaxing at home.

I stay home on bank hols and always have. Too many idiots on the roads

Theoddbird Fri 27-Aug-21 11:12:21

Everywhere will be too crowded so will be impossible to park. My trip to the seaside can wait...

maddyone Fri 27-Aug-21 11:14:44

I won’t be going very far, that’s for sure. I will visit my elderly mother in her care home, and most probably stay at home otherwise, although we’re considering whether to go out for a meal with one of our sons and his wife to a tapas restaurant that we like. I’ve said we’re only willing to go mid afternoon on Saturday as that seems likely to be the least busy time. We certainly wouldn’t go to a restaurant on Bank Holiday Monday when the world and his dog will be out and eating in restaurants. Nor on Sunday either, nor on Saturday night, so that only leaves Saturday afternoon.

I’m on the train to my daughter’s - yes EVERYONE is out !!

Soniah Fri 27-Aug-21 11:16:52

I live in N Wales, not going anywhere over Bank Holiday apart from walking from home, the roads will be heaving, but hope the weather is as good as forecast for those who are coming and that everyone has a great time

leeds22 Fri 27-Aug-21 11:17:41

I live in a tourist area where covid rates are rising, so will be keeping a low profile over BH. Looking forward to September and a long awaited trip to Whitby.

nipsmum Fri 27-Aug-21 11:36:39

It's not a bank holiday in SCOTLAND.

aonk Fri 27-Aug-21 11:37:31

It sounds like the OP and I are the only ones going out! We haven’t decided yet but will probably take a drive to a NT property or to a relatively quiet part of the coast. There’s not much summer left! We don’t care about traffic as long as we have water in the car.

Sheilasue Fri 27-Aug-21 11:42:30

For those of us who are retired you maybe like dh and I we don’t go out on bh or weekends apart from a short walk. We are doing our outings in the week, it’s much quieter and when the kids are back at school it’s not so busy. Much nicer to get about.

GrammarGrandma Fri 27-Aug-21 11:44:43

I am self-isolating for a week after breast surgery but really don't mind!

Nannan2 Fri 27-Aug-21 11:49:19

Unless taking a gift to my GD (on my own) for half an hour only not going anywhere as i don't want to take very many risks before youngest son (18) returns to college, as he was shielding previously.

Nannan2 Fri 27-Aug-21 11:51:23

Nipsmum- no but you get BH on other days that Englanders don't, so it evens up?

RosesAreRed21 Fri 27-Aug-21 12:31:12

We live by the coast. If the weather is good its a nightmare to try and get anywhere is near on impossible and cant get parked so we usually stay at home.

PinkCosmos Fri 27-Aug-21 12:43:49

I live in a holiday destination and the place is rammed.

There is no way I will be going out this weekend

Chardy Fri 27-Aug-21 12:44:19

I read this week
26 Aug 2020. New cases 1,048.
Deaths 16
26 Aug 2021. New cases 38,281.
Deaths 140

I won't be going out except to walk the beach first thing, but some of my neighbours and friends will be working in retail and food with holidaymakers (who have come from all over the South) and local numbers will undoubtedly rise.

Aepgirl Fri 27-Aug-21 12:59:46

I’m off to a county show tomorrow - feeling quite excited and brave.

MerylStreep Fri 27-Aug-21 13:03:29

I live in a tourist town: Southend. The seafront has been very busy/ rammed over the past few months.
Yesterday’s figure was 53 positive cases. Our cases are dropping.
I’ve been to Adventure Island twice in the past month.
All the cafes and seafront pubs are doing a roaring trade.

Please don't come to Cornwall. Covid figures are the worst in the country, there is nowhere to park, no accommodation vacancies and cafes etc. are fully booked. We live half an hour from the beach but won't be going there until the schools are back.

Well at least you have that option once the schools are back. Do spare a thought for those who haven't the privilege here in Cornwall that you (and I) have.
