Just stuck my head in to wish Yia a lovely time at the wedding today in her stunning outfit.
I only like cheese scones, no jam issues with them!

I'll pop my head round the door to say, "Jam then cream," and gently close the door before a day of toddler sitting: fish man, park then garden with play dough and dinosaurs thrown in for good measure. See you on the other side..

A midnight visit to the kitchen and all is quiet. I sneaked in for a nibble of something. Found a shortbread ! Spotted your melons Jax. Couldn't miss them. Good size. Lovely and ripe too ☺️

Thank you all for the kind thoughts about MrM, especially Nannytopsy. I will persevere with MrM and encourage him to ask for more antibiotics. The surgery told him nothing of what to expect with the compression bandage. I've read that it could be 10-12 days for the pain to lesson - is that right Nannytopsy? Last night was much better but it was dressing change today (2x a week) so it will be a troubled couple of nights. Our little sofa is the best place Charleygir5. It has high arm rests so with two pillows he can elevate it enough to ease the pain. He is there now. One good excellent piece of news is that he was amazed how much the ulcer had improved over the first four days of wearing the bandage. They have measured him up for a compression stocking. Hopefully this is thinner so he can then wear something else besides sandals. Not quite the footwear for a building site. I gave MrM your x ?on the cheek soop. Had to fight my way through his beard first.

Good evening lovely ladies - she said, idly clapping her hands together and constantly missing a blasted mosquito which just won't leave me alone! Oh they are the bane of my life - obviously finding the evenings a bit chilly after such a warm day.

Well, I honestly couldn't ask for more kindness and concern shown towards my back. I am not in agony, thankfully. Just fed up with having to think before I do anything energetic. It feels a bit easier and I am doing my wonderful stretching exercises 3 times a day, and sitting here with an ice pack in my back, so hopefully all your good wishes will 'have me right' in the shortest of times. GrannySomerset - hurrah, a post from you and thank you for your kind thoughts. I would think you probably need a new back by now. Hope you are still managing to find a bit of me-time if the weather's good or go out for a time just to clear your head and give yourself a break. Wishing hard that you're managing to get help when it's needed. x

Hope the leg is improving, Corner and any down in the dumps-itis has lifted. I expect you will have good and bad days for a while. Don't try to run before you can walk - and that's not irony. I think we can all be in a hurry to get our health back, but try to let your excellent Butler take the strain for a while longer (or at least on a bad day). No shame in that!

Syn, hopefully at this time of night you are sitting somewhere calmly - and not buried under fittings or furniture.

Tomorrow, someone is finally appearing to instal a new microwave and cooker hood chez nous. Talk about pulling hens' teeth - it would have been a lot easier. Don't think we'll try buying anything new for a while - it kind of took over our life for a couple of weeks. I'll never get the time back. Today I did manage to throw together some very nice fat scones (even if I do say so myself) for a dear friend, who said 'ooh scones, what a very English tea'. Well, it was - in the garden with my Granny's teapot, lots of bone china, an embroidered cloth, little slices of lemon, milk, Earl Grey (or Early Grey as my autocorrect WILL have it!), warm scones, strawberry jam, butter, and (sadly) crème fraîche - because we can't get thick cream and certainly not clotted cream here. But when I apologised for that, she said 'do say if you ever want me to bring you clotted cream from Switzerland, won't you'. See....seems you can get it everywhere but not in the South of France! Ah well. It was super delicious anyway. And, I'm afraid we encouraged her to put the jam on first, but hopefully Muse will never find out!

Sitting in the sun, listening to the birds and drinking tea - with the air scented with honeysuckle and eleagnus flowers, it's was strange to think it's already well into October.
Hope your day was a good one - and that all who had a frantic time are now getting the rest they need.

I too have been having intermittent problems with the GN server, please forgive me for not catching up. Despite feeling ‘not quite right’ I have managed to wash and dry some laundry and sweep and vacuum the stairs. Mr. B is out all day tomorrow at his volunteering so for the first time in months I will have the house to myself. Pity I’ve already purged his wardrobe . I must check the house insurance renewal is as it needs to be, it auto renews in a month. I love that photo of Duncan Annie

I’ve had a lovely afternoon in the bar downstairs with a new neighbour from 3 doors along, She happened to be someone I’ve known for 40y! Later she also worked at the same Local hospital as I did but as a manager. As you can imagine we had a lot of catching up to do!

We shared a bottle of wine then a cheeky ‘one for the road’ as you do. I hope I don’t have a bad head tomorrow - especially as once back up here to eat with Himself we also had wine with our delicious Aldi salmon, mushrooms and broccoli ....

Good Evening the kitchen! We have had a pretty successful day in the garden, bought DD’s birthday pressie, booked to see James Bond and been to choir.
DH has had leg ulcers for several years and they come and go. Compression is always pretty painful but a large number of large antibiotic tablets has had a miraculous effect on his right leg. They may continue them for longer, to see if they improve the left leg. I just wish people would listen! I have said for months that they were infected. I can smell the infection across the room!
Now they are much better! ? for Mr M!
We are watching Spectre, to get us in the mood for the new James Bond tomorrow ?

I think we could pass the melons round and share Grandmajean, I’m sure a quick wipe with some antibac, I’ve still got loads, for Nannagarra would be fine ?

BladeAnnie I thought it so funny Duncan watching the TV so avidly. I do hope that is his TV and he was not interrupted.

Evening all. I was locked out earlier too. Had a lovely morning out in Kelso. A beautiful drive with fabulous autumnal colours all the way. Then on way back stopped off at lovely pottery a few miles away. Bought some gifts for friends.
Grandmafrench I hope your back is on the mend. Backache is a horrible thing. Glad Mr Muse and Mr Soop appear a little better. Long may it continue. Nannagarra thank you for your kind words. Blade Annie Duncan is fabulous. Thank you for sharing a photograph of him. My best wishes to all.

I’ve watered and inspected the melons Grandmajean and muse then sat myself on the naughty step for ten minutes for my sniggering to self. Wouldn’t it be lovely if the three of us could sit and giggle over a few drinks and nibbles.
I also planted a zebra grass, another plant, can’t recall it’s name, bronze leaves and red flowers, along with the clematis. Probably need more time on the naughty step as I didn’t iron shirts….could do better.
I think I’ll leave the yum yums thank you Sue far too sweet for me, I’ll donate my portion to someone more needy of a sugar hit.
I’m looking at organising a family weekend in a large house next August (school holidays ?), MrJ, mere youngster, celebrates his 60th in July.
Pleased Mrsoop is feeling better, a rough few days, may that healing spread to Mrmuse, Grandmafrench and how are you Blossoming?

I was bringing Duncan into the kitchen for lap-sitting but he was too interested in watching Angela Black. I think this was the moment where all the doggies started barking!! Pleased to hear MrSoop is on the mend and I'll look out for the postman this week. Today has been a quiet day after yet another drama with my mother yesterday!! She says it was her covid booster making her unwell but I rather think it was her not taking care of her-diabetic-self. Mr BA is the most patient and caring man and even he is getting to the end of his tether.....She is my mum though so we've got to be there ?. TOYA and enjoy the rest of your Monday

Muse regarding the pain in Mr.Muse's ulcerated leg is he elevating the leg sufficiently because the compression bandage can feel and be very tight if his leg has swollen even a little.

So pleased to hear that MacSporran is slowly returning to normal. There appear to be quite a few side effects.

I have been having problems accessing gransnet too?‍♀️

Glad Mr soop is feeling better and hoping for similar good progress reports from Mr muse, our dear Grandmafrench,Blossoming and any other poorly kitcheners.

We are in North Wales looking after the hurricane and Miss Matilda.Their mummy and daddy have had a couple of days in Liverpool, they are on their way home now?M and I had a shopping trip and pizza lunch then ‘organised the closet’ yesterday.Today started at 5.20 when H woke up,school run then DH,H and I fell asleep for three hours!Its been a lovely couple of days.They live in the middle of nowhere so lots of wildlife and fields for the children to run around.

I cannot believe it, I managed to fill my car with petrol today, the first in around 3 weeks. I triple checked I was putting unleaded in- I so hope the panic buying has now stopped in NW London. People have been queuing at 2 am and 5 am and driving around the area trying to find somewhere with unleaded.

My booster is booked for Friday pm but I have a few days free in case I have a reaction.

Had lovely vistit for morning coffee and lunch from good friends on their way home to Hereford. So nice when old pals feel they can just mail and ask can they come and visit. We had a great chat. Husband and wife . Wife and I met when we were 18 year old students and husbands became friends too. Good times.

Grandmabatty I well remember the extraordinary fun-times we spent with Torben when he was a wee man. We still laugh when recounting the experiences that we shared. Such memories are priceless. Continue to enjoy all the gifts of being a hands-on, hugs unlimited grandma.
