In order to cheer myself up I thought I would start a band. Would anyone like to join me?
I can whistle and my knees click so I could be part of the wind and percussion section.
If you can play a real or odd instrument please join in.

I could play along on the ukulele or join the ever increasing wind section, real or body function.

I can play Ukulele (don't mention lamp posts) and sing along.

Well done Elderly , what talent you have.
Can I play a triangle please (just don’t ask me to sing unless you want it to rain).

My late husband played in a brass band, I still have some of his mouth pieces, so can just about manage an odd squeak hear and there.

I could blow my own trumpet, when pushed....
Will this do?

?

I'm OK for playing second fiddle.

That's our duet sorted then.
We need to practice - can you fit some busking in around your badminton commitments??

Hi EP
I have sung it in my head a few times (it sounds better that way! I’m not a singer, but I am quite good at poetry).
It does flow very nicely and has a natural rhythm.
The ‘some people say’ line, I think, needs an extra syllable, so I add ‘they’. (Some people they say)
Also ‘contentment’ is a bit clunky.
Other than that it’s really very good!
Unfortunately, I can’t share the tune that I’ve used! I’d describe it as a bit like one of the tunes that you sing at school.

Thank you for your kindness.

How do you mean please?

My neighbour keeps his false teeth in a glass,as hes dosent like wearing them.
I am sure he would let me borrow them, then I could provide castanets.
There is someone in mind with whom I would love to separate from his maraccas, they would make a pleasing sound being rattled in tune.

The man painting my window frames could definitely enhance the wind section. He was also singing along to his 'music'.

ElderlyPerson Sat 18-Sept-21 15:42:34

Just wondering, has anyone tried singing the lyrics that I wrote?

Not necessarily recorded.

If so, just wondering how it went please.

GranEd Sat 18-Sept-21 14:40:45

......or wine? ?

GranEd Sat 18-Sept-21 14:39:07

Greyduster

When I first read the title I thought we would all be dashing round the woods firing home made bows and arrows!!

Me too Greyduster ?
I think I’d have been better at that as I’ve not got a musical bone in my body. ? ???
Shall I provide some brass and we can all have ice cream ? during the interval?

Dottygran59 Sat 18-Sept-21 14:12:52

Elderly person your poem is beautiful. If one of our talented grans could set it to music those of us not in the wind section could sing it, whilst whimsically walking through the forest in floaty frocks. One of us could film it on our phones then upload it to YouTube. Whereupon, of course it would go viral and we will all be stars. GBT golden buzzer here we come

Dottygran59 Sat 18-Sept-21 14:08:33

Oh well aren’t you all very musically talented? I used to be able to play 3 blind mice on the recorder 50 odd years ago so wind section for me please.

ElderlyPerson Sat 18-Sept-21 13:53:58

Thank you.

BlueBelle Sat 18-Sept-21 13:52:29

I ll ‘play up’
Very good Elderly Person I like that it flowed beautifully

Wheniwasyourage Sat 18-Sept-21 13:37:12

Can I play merry hell please?

May7 Sat 18-Sept-21 13:07:39

I can play a tiny violin. Especially when I'm feeling sorry for myself

Nell8 Sat 18-Sept-21 12:59:51

DH says I harp on a lot so please bear me in mind if a soloist is required.

Greyduster Sat 18-Sept-21 12:45:16

I can do a passable rendition of These Foolish Things Remind me of You on the descant recorder……..if you don’t mind the odd squeak!

Bluebellwould Sat 18-Sept-21 12:38:21

Maybe the 1812 overture with our combined wind efforts instead of try cannon!
Maybe we could do it on top of mount snowden or somewhere suitably grand. We could all go up in open top bus as money is no object and imagination has no limits.

ElderlyPerson Sat 18-Sept-21 12:28:19

Does anyone know how it could all be put together and perhaps get on YouTube with some artwork as a sequence of images please?
