Hello nanderin I’m sorry - I’ve been awake since 4am, came on here and then left again!
It’s bin day today, and I popped out to put some stuff in it, and put a clothes wash on.
Anyone else about?

Nanderin Thu 21-Oct-21 05:00:19

That’s funny about your DH and the virus Evie because we had something like that a couple of months back. We thought we had got Covid and went to be tested it was so bad but we were both negative.

Eviebeanz Sun 17-Oct-21 06:09:23

I found your orchid thread btw.

Eviebeanz Sun 17-Oct-21 06:09:00

We've heard about that so think that DH may have that. Hopefully. DIL and son have tested positive with lateral flow tests and have sent off PCR tests and awaiting results.

FannyCornforth Sun 17-Oct-21 05:58:33

Evie there is an exceptionally nasty virus going around which isn’t Covid. I’ve recently seen that quite a few GNers have succumbed to it

Eviebeanz Sun 17-Oct-21 05:47:00

We are, me and DH have had the jabs, but family have not so worrying times. They didn't think they needed them as they are in their thirties.

grandMattie Sun 17-Oct-21 05:41:12

Depressing orchid? A new one on me!

FannyCornforth Sun 17-Oct-21 05:40:57

Oh no Evie, you’re all ill too. sad

FannyCornforth Sun 17-Oct-21 05:39:59

I didn’t know that Mike Reid was behind Scala. I listened to it when it started, but stopped for some reason. It might have been because there was too much ‘talk’.
I don’t like a mix - I either want music or, more often than not, speech radio.

Ive just started a thread about my depressing orchid, but I don’t think that the photos have attached. I need to go and check it. I don’t want to fall into the trap of posting them twice!

Eviebeanz Sun 17-Oct-21 05:35:00

Morning everyone I've not long woken up although DH has been awake since 3 having been woken up by the dog. DH has had a dreadful cold with high temperatures, aches etc. Although as he has arthritis he says it's difficult to know which aches are which iyswim.
DIL has been very poorly since last Sunday and also youngest GS who is 2. She did a test on Thursday and it was positive for covid also youngest GS. My son who thought he had a cold coming on came home from work, did a test and he too tested positive. So that only leaves 5 year old GS who is okay. In all this time they are the only people we've known that have had it. Unfortunately it has hit them all like a ton of bricks.

Ha ha! 8.28 - Military precision!

I should have worked that out myself about Classic fm.
I find R3 too depressing and Classic a bit too chirpy at times. I love Classic at Christmas though
I tell you what I am enjoying at the moment - Boom Radio. It’s actually much better than it sounds. It’s tag line is ‘Every Song is a Surprise’ , and they really are. They play all sorts of stuff.

grandMattie Sun 17-Oct-21 05:31:08

Actually the birdsong radio is a newish station started by Mike Reid called “Scala Radio”.

grandMattie Sun 17-Oct-21 05:27:14

Plastic FM is what DH calls Classic fm!
I sleep the early part of the night and am generally awake from 0200 onwards. I lie there and wait until at least 0400 before getting up.
Gosh! A drop in clinic! Our GP was so sloooow in the original CV19 vaccines that they were shamed on local TV and if I remember rightly, in the national press too. They are starting to do the flu vaccination at weird times. Mine is at 0828 next Saturday!

FannyCornforth Sun 17-Oct-21 05:16:43

Hello Mattie you are always an early riser I’ve noticed!
I hope that you’re doing ok thanks
I / we definitely need to start going out more too. DH is very vulnerable immunity wise and think that shielding has taken its toll.
We are actually going to see a counsellor about it.
An occupational therapist visited us on Thursday and she’s put all manner of things in place. She has been an absolute diamond.
Our GP surgery had a flu vaccine drop in thing yesterday. We went but drove straight past as it was so busy.

If only! Mr. GM has decided he doesn’t want to leave the country because of “Brexit complications”. In fact, his passport has expired. TBH, he doesn’t really like leaving the house ☹️ although he’s a very sociable chap. I would love to just go away for the odd weekend anywhere.
There’s only the two of us, and DH is deaf, he barely hears me leaving the room, so I make a hot drink and read/watch TV downstairs until he gets up around 0730.
