Coat Hangers,

Just a quick appeal to reduce plastic waste,
if you buy anything "on a hanger",and its black plastic just refuse the hanger and let the shop use it again.
No problem with the wired ones the wooden ones or the velvet ones.

Same here, LullyDully. I’ve dozens of old wooden, plastic and, yes, wire ones, acquired over many years. They do the job, nobody sees them but us, and I’d hate to add to landfill by tipping them.

Perhaps Miss Ellie felt the same.

I think I must be living in a parallel universe. I have never thought of having matching coat hangers, I may have to look into it.
(Some of ours must be centuries old and still work ok. )

Terry Wogan once commented that the family in the Dallas series popular on telly years ago, have tons of money but use wire coat hangers. He was right because I too had observed Miss Ellie rooting in her wardrobe and noticed them. He had a point so ever since then I have used satin covered ones for “tender” special care items & the non slip slim type for every day. I use proper wooden ones for overcoats. Perish the thought to think I’d ever use wire or plastic ones courtesy of the dry cleaner or found outside a shop ever again. I like the look of everything hung up nicely & neatly. It’s my brand of OCD.

Grandmadinosaur, Tesco sell those hangers.

I take travel ones away with me wherever I go. Firstly there are never enough in hotels plus no matter how I try I can’t/don't travel light. ThePoundshop sell them in packs of 3. They are fold up ones and so useful.

As for at home many years ago I bought some hangers from QVC but never seen them on tv since. It is a thick plastic hook and hanging from it is a plastic bar with about 6 holes in for 6 hangers. Genius! Well
I think so. Haven’t seen them anywhere else. Perhaps I should Google them .?

I hate the hotel sort where the “hook” is fixed on the rail and you have to manoeuvre the wooden hanger in or out of its hole.
Being vertically challenged it tends to be a bit hit and miss.

I always thought that the person who identified an alternative to clothes hangers would make a fortune.

I’m a fan and got mine in Primark - much cheaper than I’d seen elsewhere.

I always take some away with me never enough in hotels. But after a trip to New York and they all fell out during a baggage search now take fold up ones in bottom of case.

I also use them when we go away for an extended period our favourite hotel has only one wardrobe per room and they have those hotel coat hangers that take up space I remove them and use my own

I have even bought the smaller ones for GC, and yes I have got pink for girls and blue for boys. Not stereotyping, just easy finding their clothes.

I've never bought a coat hanger in my life - always plenty of spares left in boxes outside shops. I suppose we have folk on here that like them all matching, though?

Yes, I have different colours for different rooms (ok I know I am odd)

Yes, as others have said they’re slimmer and clothes don’t slide off.

Yes, they do a good job and nothing slips off.

We use them. Space saving and effective. Not as strong as some though.

Yes, marvellous! More room in the wardrobe and silky tops don't slide off them. I bought black ones, just because I divided them between myself and my husband.
