Now I know Autumn has arrived in the UK.

Cats are sensible and usually stay warm and dry. I have seen many dog walkers out in the pouring rain. The dogs seem happy with wagging tails whatever the weather.
No walk for me though as I like to be warm and dry too.

I take my dog Mya's lead on this one?.

I'm not one for walking in the rain and Mya hates water (streams, sea and rain) unless it's to drink it. I normally walk her off the lead but in rain she will sulk by the open door so I have use the lead to get her out there to do what she needs to do. MrM has a polytunnel for working in. She has been known to sneak in there for a poop on rainy days. If we are out walking off the lead and it's starts , she beats me back home and waits undercover in the porch for me.

I agree about cats. Comfort all the time.

Our cat is exactly the same hazel93 only comes in for food during the summer but in the winter he likes to sleep on the guest room bed. Could be a problem now as we acquired another rescue dog in June and she likes to sleep there too. Our cat is not averse to giving the dogs a slap so guess he will win

Autumn arrived here (SW London) with a vengeance 2 days ago after some glorious September weather - heavy rain followed by a drastic temperature drop yesterday.

Dh was out of his shorts and back into longs for the first time in months yesterday! And I wore socks for the first time in as many months.

I'd been hoping not to need my heating, wearing wrist warmers and warm socks, but yesterday I looked at my outdoor thermometer and saw it struggling to reach 10. It didn't rise very much as the day went on. So on went the heating.

Cats know.
Autumn winds and gales here. That and the petrol shortage means staying home.

Haven’t seen much of our cat through the summer either, he’s completely anti social, and he isn’t ready to come in yet.
Still outside today, and it’s horrible out.

The geese flying south overhead are telling me it's autumn. That, and the wind, rain and cooler temperatures.

We are in the south east and were so chilled yesterday we put the heating on, first time since August. Yes August! What a ‘summer’ it’s been.

I walk our dogs whatever the weather. They are spaniels and raining and mud are no problem for them .Plus I have all the wet weather gear.There's something lovely about coming in,warming up in the bath and getting cosy after winter walks.
The only time I hesitate to go out is when it's very windy.I have had a couple of close shaves with falling branches and living near the Pennines it can get pretty wild !

Our cat is the same. We say he’s in winter mode. Can always tell what sort of day it’s going to be by his behaviour, he’s like a weather vane!

oh, I love Autumn not so much the falling temperatures saying goodbye to flip flops and maxi dresses but the colours, it is so colourful. Big orange pumpkins deep red and rust coloured chrysanthemums, red green and orange leaves in big rustly piles just asking for someone to jump into them! An ideal time to light candles and the fire then snuggle down in fluffy blankets in the evening

S.W. Scotland here, raining and windy but not cold. Heating went off Easter Sunday and is still off. The dog refused to go out this morning, he had a look and went back to bed.

So depressing knowing we ve got about 6/7 months of dark dank cold depressing days ahead

I like the autumn and winter. Dark evenings when I can close the blinds and cosy in for the night. Brisk walks on cold frosty mornings, new snow sometimes. I don't like having to defrost my car though.
