I had a friend who hit a deer that ran out in front of him. They rang the local wildlife hospital (St Tiggywinkles) who sent out an ambulance to pick up the deer who made a good recovery - great!

I`ve saved several mice from my last cat`s clutches, I took them round to the river bank at the front of my house. I once removed a grass snake that was rearing up in front of her, let that go on the bank as well.

Sounds like you did a wonderful job too nanna8.

We recently saved a tiny wren from a cat's clutches. We took it to our vet who cared for it and released it again - all free of charge. There are some kind and talented people around.

There are some wonderful volunteers around including some vets. Just now I rescued a very young small ring tail possum from the jaws of a pussy cat , wrapped him in a woolen sock and rang the wildlife shelter. They arranged for me to take him to an after hours vet ( Sunday night here ) ,20 minutes drive away. When I got there they said he was number 6 that day and because he didn’t look as though he had actually been bitten and was fairly lively the hopes are that he will survive. They look after them until they are adult size and then release them near to where they were found. Very heartening and good for them as they must require more or less 24 hour care those tiny little creatures.
