Good morning all from a very soggy Essex.

I went to the U3 A meeting yesterday where the speaker was an ex Detective Constable. An interesting talk , mainly about murderers and rapists. ?. It did bring home how DNA has revolutionised detective work as well, of course , technology.
How they brought any perpetrator to light , in the ‘old’ days was a miracle.

The friend I went along with, said ‘I won’t be coming again, the people here are soooo old.’ I looked around and had to agree with her ??. Oh dear ! I must look in the mirror more often. ?.

Today I have my Bridge Club .

Wishing you all a ‘good’ day.

Dull and dreich in Cheshire.
Not much happening apart from golf for DH.
I find I need to sort out evening meal in my head before I can concentrate on anything else properly. How sad is that !
Glad those car keys turned up ,*harrigran*. You don't need irritations like that just now. Thinking of you and GrandMattie.
Can hear the rain again. Won't be going far.

Nannytopsy Tue 05-Oct-21 08:05:07

Still no fuel here. Suffolk and Norfolk are both very short with lots of empty filling stations.

Nannytopsy Tue 05-Oct-21 08:01:26

Good morning Mick and all his followers. Glad you saw both ends of the bike race!
It has been a night of torrential rain here but on the bright side I knew I didn’t need to water my newly planted flowerbed! There are just a few geraniums and some daffs to put in and it’s finished, for the time being.
Glad you had helpers yesterday Harri and that you found your key. We once found our lost house keys in the deep freeze and DH always mentions it if we lose de anything.
Blue skies on the horizon but it won’t last. I have two committee meetings today, at 2 and 7 and I shall spend the morning ironing.
I hope the day is kind to everyone.

Good morning all from the Black country. Raining when I surfaced, but looking out at the moment sun appears to be shining.
Doctors rang yesterday and cancelled our flu jabs for tomorrow they say have no stock and will rearrange, so annoying because it was them who got in touch with us in first place we were prepared to book with pharmacy. Have tried to book elsewhere with no luck at moment will keep trying.
Bank and a small shop and see how the rest of day goes.
Enjoy your day everyone and may you all find some ?.

Grandmadinosaur Tue 05-Oct-21 07:51:31

Good morning from East Yorkshire where it was very wet overnight.
I had quite a productive day yesterday sorting out the fridge, cooking and freezing apples, parsnips etc.
Last night DH bled the radiators I don’t know what he did but now we have no hot water. We had a new boiler in April so I don’t know what’s happened there. I hope he can get the man back very soon.
Today it’s coffee morning with friends. Then I need to go in to the city centre to collect train tickets and get a refund on something.
Ash good news for Olddudders. Although it’s a wait at least it’s on the horizon.
* harrigran* and Grandmattie thinking of you both. Having family around will be a comfort to you.

Bluesapphire my you are organised! I’m intending to do my Christmas cake soon.
Have a good day everyone.

Gelisajams Tue 05-Oct-21 07:49:27

Good morning from another wet and windy day in MorecambeBay. I didn’t know it could rain as hard as it did yesterday!
Glad those keys have appeared Harrigran one less worry for you.
Glad to Olddudders feels he can travel Ash something to look forward too.
Mattie you are amazing.
DH will hopefully phone the Dr shortly. His knee has been troubling him for a while, it sort of collapses on him, but yesterday it went much worse and it’s like permanent tingling and doesn’t support him when he stands.
Take care and stay safe everyone ?

NannyJan53 Tue 05-Oct-21 07:48:41

Good morning from a grey and very wet Black Country.

Busy day yesterday. Health walk in the morning where we covered 6.5 miles. Luckily it was bright and sunny, the rain started in the afternoon. Then back home for homemade chicken soup, then out again to meet friends for coffee. A mooch round charity shops on way back where I bought 3 paperbacks for £1, bargain. Two were the sequel to Jo Jo Moyes, 'Me Before You'. which I have read.

No real plans today, I keep telling my self I really should re-start going to the gym, as not been since February 2020. They are taking my monthly payment, but not sure if I am ready for going yet.

MrJ was looking into booking for Lanzarote for next March, again I am not sure.

Great that olddudders will be over soon Ashcombe, and hoping your appointment has a successful outcome.

Wishing you all a good day.

ginny Tue 05-Oct-21 07:44:30

Good morning all. Outside is looking similar to yesterday so hopefully it will turn out fairly nice.
We are off to visit my brother and SIL. No problem getting petrol.
Wishing all a day with a smile in it.

Beechnut Tue 05-Oct-21 07:42:42

And that the key was found.

Beechnut Tue 05-Oct-21 07:41:53

Good Morning everyone from Severnside where once again we have a damp start.

Yesterday I got a few jobs done outside and have decided to cut down the apple tree. The apples aren’t good and I’ve given it several years chances.

I have a job to do for my brother who came by last night and we swopped family news.

Treat yourself dragonfly, you deserve it.

Glad to read you had some help harrigran a new that the key was found.

All in all so far the thread seems to have got off to positives, so have a good day all ?

brook2704 Tue 05-Oct-21 07:36:52

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s cloudy and grey. I don’t think there’s any sunshine forecast today.
So good to hear you had a better day yesterday harri with lots of things done, good that you slept well too
Good that olddudders is able to visit soon Ash and hope your appointment goes well this afternoon
No plans for today, just housework and a bit of tidying up in the garden if it’s dry
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings ?

Pittcity Tue 05-Oct-21 07:34:55

Good morning from rainy Colchester.
Tuesday is charity shop volunteering day.
DH is going to paint the kitchen ceiling, so I'm prepared for an evening of cleaning up after him.
Love to all ?x

Urmstongran Tue 05-Oct-21 07:33:05

Good morning everyone from South Manchester (‘puter still suggests ‘Malaga’ obv doesn’t like M/c!) where it’s dry now but boy did we have torrential rain during the night!

Yesterday I sorted out my jewellery and watches. Some gold to weigh in (not much but still), chucked out some old bits and bobs and some costume jewellery. I have 7 watches. I never really knew how many as some used to be in Spain and I’d given 2 or 3 away to my girls (ditto sunglasses) in the past. Himself put new batteries in 4 of them. I could wear a different one every day to rotate them and use them. Daft idea - a bit OCD - but the thought is gaining traction. That’s how sad I am.
?

A request to make the SOAP dish for the little family up the road today. And Himself has been asked to take the Boy Wonder to his football practice as son-in-law is working later these days. Not a problem.

My stepfather wasn’t so well yesterday. I rang him twice and will ring later this morning. Poor man had a sleep in the afternoon, most unusual for him and didn’t go to his club last night.

You are one amazing lady grandMattie. I admire your fortitude greatly. I know I couldn’t be so brave.

Ashcombe glad to hear your husband is travelling over soon. Will he drive with a bad back (a long way sat in a car) or fly over? No test required from today for air travel. Seems the French waiting list for healthcare isn’t much better than ours at present. Heartening to think it’s ‘not just us’. But sorry for his wait!

Hope you get your concerns attended to today at your physio appointment corner.

Enjoy Tuesday all who can. x

Jaxjacky Tue 05-Oct-21 07:31:01

Good morning all from a soggy S Hants, rained heavily overnight. Good you saw some of the race Mick, the important bits.
Pleased to hear oldudders is wending his way over Ashcombe happy days.
Today I must book an MOT and service for MrJ’s car, I have a video call with my bank, then a visit to the farm shop.
Thinking of you grandMattie through these most difficult of days.
Hoping harrigran is enveloped with her family.
Shout out to GrannySomerset and Elizabeth.
Take care all ??.

harrigran Tue 05-Oct-21 07:24:36

Good morning from a rainy NE.
Hairdresser coming this morning, I just hope she nurse doesn't turn up at the same time.
DD and SIL were here from lunchtime yesterday and helped me tick off a few jobs. He put a new spotlight in the kitchen and sorted out a battery problem on DH's laptop. Helped me move a shoe rack in the coat cupboard and found the car key ? such a relief as I believe replacement keys are very expensive.
I put DD to work typing up letters to a bank and doing some photocopying, I also got her to ring the consultant's secretary about DH being unable to attend the hospital. All in all a productive afternoon.
I was tired last night and more or less slept through to 6.30am.
Have the best day you can.

MayBeMaw Tue 05-Oct-21 07:22:00

Good morning all from N Bucks where it seems to be brightening up. Yesterday felt busy- an Arts Society committee meeting in the morning, Art History in the afternoon. I then settled down to watch my film for tomorrow’s Film Studies only for Film Four to conk out at 8 o clock, half way through ! Not available today on All4 either it seems so quite what we will have to discuss after 90 minutes of film I don’t know.
What with WhatsApp, Facebook etc going down yesterday afternoon and night too - we’re “all doomed” !
Hoping your plans for today don’t let you down- and wishing you all a pleasant day.

GrannyGravy13 Tue 05-Oct-21 07:17:42

Morning Mick and all

The rain seems to have stopped after a very wet and blustery night, it woke me up several times and consequences I am shattered. I hope The Imp is going to be a good boy today?

We should go food shopping, but will see how it goes.

grandMattie find some time to it your feet up before your family arrive tomorrow ??

Good that DH will be joining you soon Ashcombe

Thinking of harrigran ?

Keep safe and well folks ?‍♀️?

dragonfly46 Tue 05-Oct-21 07:17:03

Good morning from damp Leicestershire.

We are tootling down the M1 today to take doggy back to DD. We will stay a couple of nights and maybe visit London Town - the Cloudy Bay bar in Selfridges has been mentioned but looking at the prices I think not.

Thinking of those with worries.

BlueSapphire Tue 05-Oct-21 07:15:03

Good morning everyone from a damp Northampton, although the sky is clear at the moment. A dental appointment for a lost filling looms at 9.15, so shall have to get my skates on shortly.

A good yoga class yesterday; left feeling well and truly stretched! Then put some washing in, and then set to making the Christmas puddings. Both done, wrapped and stored. Shall attempt the Christmas cakes one day, perhaps next week. And stuff is arriving to make sausage rolls and mince pies this week, so can get on with those and put them in the freezer.

A health walk this afternoon, weather permitting, followed by a visit to the cafe.

Take care everyone.

grandMattie Tue 05-Oct-21 07:03:31

Glad to learn that DH is well enough to come over, Ash. Even if it is a very long way away, at least he has an appointment!

Ashcombe Tue 05-Oct-21 06:45:17

Good morning, all from a dry Torbay after a wet and windy evening.

I hope your physio appointment proves useful, cornergran. This afternoon, I’m attending our local hospital for a check on my resurfaced hip from 2005. This happens annually as there are fears that metal may have escaped into my system, despite the reassurances to the contrary from the surgeon in Staffs who performed the original operation. Apparently, some substandard parts were used on some resurfaced hips.

In other medical news, DH, olddudders, now has an appointment to see a rheumatologist ……. in February, 2022! The good news is that he has booked to come over from France later this month! ?

And we hope you are well supported, too, grandMattie, while you do so much for others. Lovely to welcome your family, despite the circumstances.

Take care, everyone. ?????

grandMattie Tue 05-Oct-21 06:34:43

Good morning from an unexpectedly stormy E Kent. It feels like we’ve had more rain in the last few days than all summer…
Nothing much today, supermarket shop for the troops arriving tomorrow evening. The DGDs are so fussy that I never plan anything for them, just leave it to DD.
Hope harri is doing ok and well supported.
Carpe diem, you lovely people. May today bring little nuggets of joy and sunshine ☀️. ????????

cornergran Tue 05-Oct-21 06:08:16

Morning Mick, morning All from a dark, damp and windy corner of Somerset

Not a good night for sleep although I’ve read a lot. Enjoyed the company of our granddaughter yesterday evening. Plan some clothes moving around this morning with Mr C’s help, then lunch at a garden centre which is on the way to my physio appointment. Looking forward to seeing the physio, have a couple of concerns I know she can advise on.

Pleased you saw the start and finish of the cycle race mick. Thinking of everyone finding life hard going at the moment

Hope Tuesday is kind to us all.

Michael12 Tue 05-Oct-21 05:59:57
