I have noticed that since the night has started to draw in that by 9.30ish i can hardly keep my eyes open and usually i am watching something interesting on TV and knitting. So i welcome the 10pm news as i then switch off and go to bed and read my latest library book for about 15mins before snuggling down for the night. Its usually about 10.30pm. I used to staty up at least till 11pm if not later but dont seem to be able to now. Is this another sign of aging!!!???

Forsythia

I like to be in bed as soon as the news at 10 comes on. I sometimes read or more often than not I go straight to sleep and wake up at 6. Ive always needed lots of sleep.

Do you watch News in bed then, TV in bedroom?

Personally, I am a firm believer in NO TV, screens, phone, etc, in bedroom and body and mind knowing time is to sleep when I hit the pillow. (not a criticism of course).

I used to stay up late but am trying to improve it now as I am always tired. I have managed to get it down to being in bed before 11pm. I still play scrabble on my phone and then read until midnight though.

It doesn't matter what time I go to bed, I don't go to sleep until the hot flushes stop!

Usually it's about 10:30 - 11pm.

I just love my bedroom and as soon as I have eaten my evening meal (about 6.30pm) I will start locking up and make sure my cat Oliver is indoors.
Now that I am on my own I can get comfy and watch TV in comfort there is no need to have the lounge lights & TV on and waste energy when I can snuggle down and relax in my lovely bedroom.
I switch lights off about 10pm and wake up about 6ish.

I usually go to bed at about 10.30, as I'm recovering from Covid (on a ventilator for 2 weeks in July) and a stroke, so I get tired earlier than I used to. The last 2 nights, though, we've been out and met friends at the bub, so I didn't get to bed until gone midnight.

Shortly, will take a cup of tea with me and read for a couple of hours.

Don't like to go to bed before 11.30pm - I think it stems from being the youngest of 3 children, I was always sent to bed before my siblings and I so resented it! So I love to stay up late and revel in being the last one to retire! I get up about 6.30am (dog gets me up), so I get 7 hours sleep, which is plenty for me.

I’m still up now on my iPad then I’ll read when I get to bed. I love this time when H is in bed and I can suit myself!

I’m a night owl. In bed around 1 to 2am after watching tv. I’ve always been a late riser apart from when working. I live on my own and retired so surface between 11 to midday blush

Now I’m in my late 60s I thought I might become like all pensioners and get up early and go to bed early - not happened yet.

if i have to get up for work and drive the next day I try to go before 11pm

To be honest I want to go to bed now, I have tired all day. I suppose your body tells you what to do

yet i am still up hmm so sensible Jane

lemongrove Sat 09-Oct-21 22:57:04

Whenever I feel like it, could be 9pm or after midnight, depending on what I’m doing.

Redhead56 Sat 09-Oct-21 22:52:49

Night owl when helping with GC had to go to bed early but I don't usually go to bed until after midnight. If we have arrangements and have to be up early it irritates me. Since retirement I don't like timetables or time constraints.

I'm in bed! Going to read and play around on laptop plus listen to radio four. Will probably be asleep by half ten. Then most mornings awake between one and three. Listen to the world service. Then asleep til five thirty .

10pm is late for me. On very tired days I can be in bed by eight o'clock and asleep shortly after. I get up at five. Sometimes I have an afternoon nap. I've always felt drowsy in the early afternoon, even when still in my teens. I stay awake if I'm busy.

If it's aging I don't care; I am aging. What's wrong with just sleeping when you're tired – if you can, it's a luxury.

A lark here. Asleep by 9.30 pm then awake by 5am. Don’t know what happened this morning though I was awake at 3.30am couldn’t get back to sleep so got up at 4.30 I’ve felt lethargic all day. Hoping for a better night tonight. It’s not long now to the clocks changing.

I’m a night owl! I get second wind around 11pm even though I am often in bed by then. I read, mess around on my iPad, watch tv etc until 2am or even later. I then sleep until it’s time for me to get up - which varies. This week I’ve had to be up by 8 am as got decorators in, if no morning plans I’ll set my alarm for 10 am then enjoy a lazy morning coffee in bed before getting up. Today, as I was tired through having to get up early ( for me) I did not set an alarm and woke up at 11.20am!

It doesn’t matter what time I wake up, I don’t nap during the day and cannot get to sleep until the early hours. But every few days I might crash and sleep for hours.

I don’t know how I managed to get up at 6.30am for forty odd years in order to get to work! I don’t fret about it though as I reckon over a week I get an average of 7 or 8 hours a night - just not always in one go!

I tend to eat less if I get up late as I only have time for two meals and am careful not to raid the fridge in the wee hours.

Kim19 Sat 09-Oct-21 17:46:15

I tend to think of it as a common sense thing rather an ageing one. Once it's dark and outside doesn't beckon I'm happy to be in a lovely bed reading or watching telly rather than sitting downstairs burning fuel. Guess I'm just tight!

Candelle Sat 09-Oct-21 17:46:02

Larks and owls, I guess: I am probably just going off to sleep as some of you are rising - despite my having been in bed for many hours. I am a terrible insomniac and envy your easy sleep!

Shandy57 Sat 09-Oct-21 17:36:38

I wish I could sleep. I don't feel tired and have to force myself to go to bed at midnight, read for about an hour, then sleep. I've now got to wear my gum shield again as I've traumatised my teeth through grinding them again, that doesn't help.

BlueSky Sat 09-Oct-21 17:33:49

Never before 12, winter or summer, up at 7, 15 min cat nap in front of the tv. I’m a creature of habit.

BlueBelle Sat 09-Oct-21 17:24:55

Between 10 and 11 more often 10 listen to the radio and play games in iPad then settle down I go to sleep quick
Y usually but mostly wake once or twice then fully awake by 4 or 5

Scones Sat 09-Oct-21 16:37:13

My aunt is a she, not a he. Doh!

Scones Sat 09-Oct-21 16:36:45

I'm definitely finding the darker evenings have made me feel more sleepy. In bed by 10.30pm, a short read and then to sleep. I'm awake and raring to get up at 6ish even though my alarm isn't set until 7.30am.

I have nothing on my aunt though he was up, baking and had her Christmas cake in the oven at 6am this morning!!!

M0nica Sat 09-Oct-21 16:33:18

I am a lark. Up at 6.00am or thereabouts. I, therefore go to bed 10.00ish, read a while and expect to be asleep well before 11.00pm
