Foil tops on lateral flow test pots

Does anyone else have difficulties removing the foil top from the top of the extraction buffer tube when doung the new design lateral flow test ? I just cannot do it and have to use scissors.
I also have to use a magnifying glass to read the number of the test to record the result. Does anyone else find these things difficult?

If you have a good camera on your mobile, then zoom in on the number and it will be enlarged. We do that here with lots of small print labels. As for foil tops on small things they are very difficult, I sometimes pierce with nail scissors. But I don’t know what these tests look like!

Just used the first of my new tests this morning. No, the foil top was easy to remove and the test much better than the old ones, no throat test now and the nasal ones didn’t make me sneeze.

And I reported the result. Yes, the numbers are small to read, but I managed. Would have fetched the magnifying glass if I struggled.

i am on my second batch of new style, first ones i could remove the lids, ended up just poking a hole in, this new batch just peal off. So maybe there was a faulty batch?

I’ve not had any issues using the tests though I agree the new ones with nasal swabs are easier than the throat ones! You will need to be careful not to contaminate the fluid if you use anything to pierce the foil. I also scan the code into the reporting site using either my phone or iPad. It’s very quick and no need for a magnifying glass.

I must say I like these new tests with no throat swab. Yes, the foil tops are fiddly, but not too bad. And I too have to get a magnifying glass to read the code! I always take a picture of my test strip to remind myself that it was negative! Silly, I know......

I still have about half a pack of the original test. The nasal swab invariably makes me sneeze, but the throat one has been quite easy - maybe I was doing it the wrong way!

Fairfraise - thank you for the idea of using your mobile phone camera to read small print. I often cannot see things such as expiry date on food packs and my magnifying glass just makes thing blurry. The camera works.

It's amazing how how much they can pick out.

I much prefer the nostril only tests. The throat and nasal ones make me gag. I couldn’t read the code number and rely on my phone to take photo of it.
