As its nearly Halloween has anyone got a creepy story

My GM told me about when she went to visit her mother's grave. She sat on a bench nearby in tears and a young woman came to sit beside her. The woman didn't speak but my GM had felt comforted by her presence. She turned away for a second and when she turned back the woman had gone. My GM said there was nowhere she could have gone in such a short time.

When I was a child we lived in half of an old house which had been taken over by the council in the war and turned into three flats, of which my parents had the top flat. To get to the front door from our flat we had to walk down a rather beautiful, wide and shallow staircase. I was about seven or eight at the time and can distinctly remember that sometimes, instead of walking or running down those stairs, I 'floated' without my feet touching the ground. I never told anyone and it didn't always happen but I always knew it might. I've since learned that this is a fairly common experience in young children.

We lived in a flat in the basement of a Georgian House which has been a girls' school and a hospital long before being converted to flats.

At night I would often wake to 'see' flames licking over the ceiling and would sometimes be woken by a man whispering my name in my ear - very forcefully so as to wake me, but a whisper all the same I kept it to myself as my husband thinks anything 'ghosty' is nonsense. One week I was away on a course and when I got back my DH said to me, 'Scones, you'll never believe it but whilst you've been away' Well you know what I'm going to say.....he had seen the flames and heard the voice! He described the voice exactly as I had heard it only the 'man' was saying DH's name instead.

We had a little utility room tucked behind the bathroom and people wouldn't go in there as it felt so spooky. Three people, entirely unrelated and on separate occasions said they wouldn't go in there as they felt 'there were women in long white dresses in there'. Years later I looked the place up on the net and found photos of the hospital years with nurses all wearing long white dresses.

I used to work with two nurses who had seen ghosts.

One worked in the long term care unit of the hospital. One night she had been walking down the hall at 3 a.m. to administer tube feedings to a couple of residents. She saw someone enter their room ahead of her. When she reached the door, she realized it was CLOSED. As in, the man she had seen had walked right through a CLOSED DOOR. Incidentally, she told me that other staff had also experienced unusual happenings in that particular room - for example, they would be caring for a resident, hear a noise, and look up to see the reflection of a man in the mirror, standing next to them. When they turned to look at him, he was gone.

Another nurse I worked with told me of an experience she had had as a child. The doorbell rang one day, and when she answered it, an older woman was standing there. The woman asked my colleague if her mother was in. My colleague said no, she wasn't, and asked if she could take a message. The woman said no, no message. When my colleague told her mother about the encounter, and described the woman, her mother said to her, "That was your grandmother. She died years ago."

My story is spooky but not scary. The night my dear aunt was buried I awoke suddenly. Floating round my bedroom was a small, sphere of blue light. It wasn't coming from outside and I stayed at the end of a cul-de-sac anyway. It moved randomly around the room, above the bed, over to the wardrobe and to the window. I felt a sense of peace when looking at it. I didn't feel at all spooked. I reckon it was my aunt saying goodbye.

Many years ago I visited a manor house that was open to the public. I walked into a small ground floor room and, although it was a warm day, suddenly felt cold. I asked at reception if anything untoward had happened in there but, as they didn't know, said they would ask the owner. She told me that, years before, a young man had committed suicide just outside the window in the garden.

They are creepy better than mine lol

Sister of a friend of mine, and her dh, bought a house that seemed like a bargain.
Her dh used to leave very early for work, so she’d stay dozing in bed for another hour.
After a few weeks, she became aware of ‘someone’ sitting on the end of the bed. There was no sense of menace, but she felt that ‘it’ was definitely male, and after a while ‘he’ gradually started moving further up the bed.

That was enough - they got someone with ‘the gift’ to take a look.
She said, ‘His name’s Albert and he’s an old soldier.’ She asked him to leave, and he evidently went, because it didn’t happen again.
But at least they knew why the house had been cheap - former owners were in a hurry to get shot of it!

How on earth she waited that long to investigate defeats me, though - I’d have been freaking out from the word go.

One night my mum in law was in bed still awake, my FIL working nights, when she heard footsteps coming up the stairs. She had no lights in the bedroom only the light from the road. She saw a dark figure walking around the room who eventually left going downstairs again. She was too terrified to move till the morning, when she got up she checked all windows and doors expecting a break in, but everything was locked.
