What does colour mean to you

I love several toning shades of the same colour, with flashes of something else. Possibly raspberry pink with some teal and turquoise.

Fuchsia pink does it for me.
Ever since I possessed a Dollyrocker dress in bright pink aged seventeen I have had items that colour in my wardrobe, my house, and my garden. When doing academic studies all my notebooks and folders had to be that shade, written in with black and pink pens and highlighters.
It just cheers me up, although I am also very fond of most shades of green.

I too work hard to have colour in the garden for as much of the year as possible. For my clothes though I rarely wear anything but black and navy, except shoes and bags where I like colour. The house is largely neutral with some pink and some vivid Bluebellgray abstract fabrics.

I don’t mind grey in rooms as long as it is combined with a lifting colour like teal blue or saffron.
In the kitchen we have light taupe and cochineal. Doesn’t sound as appealing as it looks, really!

I love lots of colours as I do paintings with oil and acrylics. Grey is my least favourite colour and I cannot understand people painting their walls with it. My kitchen is a lovely summer yellow and the sitting room a warm terracotta. The bedroom is raspberry and cream to match my bedding. The sunflowers this year have been a treat with food for the birds in winter. Lovely colours, warm and bright.

I have just treated myself to a pair of cashmere fingerless gloves/wrist warmers ( I have Raynauds)from a company that recycles cashmere clothing. You take pot-luck with the exact shade of colour- I selected a green pair. When they arrive they could be any shade of green from jade through to pale mint. I'm quite excited to see what I get. (I can return them if I don't like them!)

I too hate the trend for grey home decoration - although 30+ years ago I painted my sitting room walls grey. I was obviously ahead of my time! I wouldn't dream of doing it now.
I actually like grey sweaters as long as I wear them with something bright. Since turning 70 I seem to have developed a liking for red and orange.

I try not to think about it. DH insists on having all window frames and door frames throughout the house painted the same shade of off-white.

I have given in over that, though I find it hideous but insist that there is no way he can have every single wall in the place painted the same colour!

I love shades of green and having a new kitchen installed at the moment in a lovely sage green. I am delighted with it. I will throw in another colour just to add interest.

I like colour. I’ve recently read that the trend for grey home decor is fading away and thank goodness for that, I say. I live in Scotland where there’s enough grey in the sky for much of the time and I don’t need it indoors as well!

I am drawn towards pink/purples and also yellow. Red in small doses, too. I’m really not keen on blue, especially royal/baby blues.

I agree about brightly coloured bins Boz, some things should just fade in to the background.
Luckily in our area we have a grey and a black bin. The small recycling bins red, blue and orange could do with a rethink.

My son has just bought some steel grey velvet curtains. I couldn't sit looking at a wall of grey at night.

I must say, I do not particularly like coloured bins. They stick out in the environment. Our recycling bin is bright blue; a plastic horror I hide away.

I love colour in the garden we put a lot of effort into keeping the changing colours from March to December, maybe oddly, we have flowers in the house, otherwise mostly its neutral

Boz, I can see the sense in what you read ‘grey is the colour of depression’.
There must be an awful lot of depressed people working in interior design. I don’t understand this fashion for grey, black and white rooms with not a hint of colour.

Favourite colours is a funny one 25Avalon. I might say green for decor, red for clothes, neither of those for underwear.
If pressed I might say yellow for making me feel hopeful and happy but I have very little yellow in my home or in my wardrobe.

I love colour. Every day, with a lot of black or navy , I wear a bright coat or sweater.
Read somewhere that grey is the colour of depression; ditto brown but not black. Not very fond of beige or camel, although being a highlighted blonde, it suits me. Just about do Khaki!
Really love Emerald green, bight blue and orange.

Until I took up botanical painting green was green. Then when I observed properly I realised exactly how many different shades of green there actually were. This is true of most colours.

There is a psychology of colours and how they have an impact on our feelings, which interior designers use. Green is restful etc. as you have observed. I wonder what our favourite colours say about us?

I love the colour orange. I know not why. I am not keen on beige and grey. I got a lovely bouquet from M&S the other day.

I remember commenting on a deep raspberry pink wall in your home Kitty when you posted a vase of flowers in front of it. Lovely.

I love colour - mostly shades of pink from very pale to deepest raspberry. I'm not sure any particular colour does anything special for me but lack of colour does lower my mood. I don't like brow but grey, as a foil, is good.
