Hey sorry to see this travelsafar, I've got tins I'm fond of too A neighbour warned me and I'd chained my metal pumpkin and dog treat cauldron to the hedge, but had to leave the children sweet's bowl unchained. I'd put stones in to weight them down if the wind picked up, found them thrown on the road. Glad none of them knocked!

I put the biscuits out on the doorstep in a lovely tin along with a note inviting people to help themselves to some biscuits. How stupid i was... someone took the whole tin within the first 15mins!!!!!

I am so sorry but if trick or treaters and their parents don't know the person who has baked, its pretty standard to not allow them to accept home baked goods.

I was just coming home from walking the dog when a tiny boy was coming towards my house with his Mum. I got the bowl down for him and told him all the bags are the same. He picked up every single bag, then the big stone that's in there to stop it blowing away! Ha ha I did laugh - well, he was dressed as the Stephen King clown

You bake your biscuits! Children should have adults with them if out trick or treating . It is the parents job to watch what their children eat - if the children have allergies. I am not really a fan of Halloween - what's happy about it!? Having said that I Know I will be unpopular and that people enjoy it - including my DG. For the record I am prepared with bags of treats just in case I have a knock on my door - so far so good! No callers . Looks like I am in for a chocky feast later this evening.

Our local facebook age showed a photo of some awful biscuits that someone was selling. The looked like severed, damaged fingers and were far too realistic for me. I think my grandson may have appreciated them though!

What a lovely thought travelsafar, hope your biscuits went down well. My husband is up and down to our door as not many are doing it around here.
He is American and loves Halloween.
We took our dgd out for first time earlier, she is almost 5, and she really enjoyed herself in her little costume.
The children are all well behaved and with parents.

My DGC love them Namsnanny, any children who turn their noses up at satsumas are just peculiar in my opinion

I have bought sweets that I don't like, so if no-one calls I won't be tempted to eat them.
And some satsumas, whether the trick or treaters like them or not they'll get some ????

I would not think that there would be many trick or treaters. Apparently 1:7 have COVID.

When I took my children trick or treating twenty years ago I only allowed my children eat sweets that were wrapped and they had no allergies. I wouldn’t have allowed them anything homemade I’m sorry. I’d heard too many horror stories from American news stories.

I put a lit metal pumpkin and sweet bowl out on my hedge with bagged sweets, six bags went. I also had a cauldron with 'lick or treat' with bagged dog biscuits for the many doggos who go past - three of those went.

I think the biscuits were intended for children kitty and I assume gluten free falls into the allergy category, I stand corrected if not.

Coeliacs have an autoimmune condition, it's not an allergy.

More people are aware of that these days but we weren't many years ago.

Actually, home-made GF biscuits are very nice.

I would be horrified if I unwittingly caused someone to have an allergic reaction but I would not have thought about it in this situation.

Should no one take responsibility for themselves or their children ?
If your child has an allergy and is not able to cope with it on their own then a parent or responsible adult should be with them.
