Just looking for something good on Netflix. What have you enjoyed lately? Anything really good to cheer me up as I’m feeling a bit depressed.

Chestnut

Just shows we are all different because I gave upon Schitt's Creek after one episode, didn't find it funny or entertaining.

Me too, it seemed very dated and cliched
I was surprised at what all the fuss was about
I’m not very good at persisting with a show!

It took me a few episodes to get into SC Chestnut. But yes we are all different. I recommended The Detectorists to my son and he thought it was rubbish.

And Last Tango in Halifax on Iplayer was lovely too.

I agree Modern Family and Schitt's Creek were brilliant.

I also enjoyed Cuckoo.

Modern Family and Schitts Creek were both brilliant.
OH is enjoying Sex Ed. Not for me...
Thanks Lincslass.

Modern Family is really funny no swearing or violence. The characters build up delightfully like Schitts Creek another good one.

It may be a bit racy, but a new season of secx education is out. There's a lot of Welsh teens having sex, but it is well written and funny too. Those young people!

We just watched Rocket Man last night. A musical drama based on Elton John's life. Turn your volume up and enjoy the music!
Note - we had to close our eyes during the love scenes. A bit too graphic, but didn't last long shock

Bohemian Rhapsody, a much better film.

Made in Italy is on Amazon Prime.

another thing I love on Netflix is Good Girls it irritated me a bit at first, but I stuck with it & then after a couple of episodes I loved it. It's far fetched of course but it's not meant to be factual, it's great escapism & good fun.

I liked the Kominsky method but I don't know if it is uplifting.

Dead to Me is brilliant. It’s about three ordinary women who become involved way over their heads in serious crime. Brilliantly acted, poignant and funny.

We loved Kim’s Convenience. Set in Toronto, it’s a convenience store owned by a Korean family, the adult children were born in. Canada though. It’s a heartwarming comedy.

A lovely documentary series called Love on the Spectrum is well worth watching. Very feel good.

Sweet Magnolias is a comedy drama series set in lovely locations.

I’ve just found that Home for Christmas has now got a new series. I really enjoyed the first one, so shall be watching this as well.

Detectorists is brilliant.

Still Game is on Netflix. I haven't watched but have heard good things about it.

Wording from Netflix, 'Scottish pensioners Jack and Victor make the most of their golden years, getting themselves into all kinds of scrapes in their Glasgow suburb.'

Shandy57 Tue 09-Nov-21 13:25:15

I recommend The Detectorists' on BBC Iplayer for a feel good series.

vegansrock Tue 09-Nov-21 13:22:25

Schitts Creek or Rita if you want a laugh

gangstergranny Tue 09-Nov-21 12:48:49

Lupin....my daughter recommended it to me....brilliant feel good story. :0)

Another vote for offspring, and rake. Loved them both

The Chestnut Man is a good Danish crime series.

I must try that, he may be my other half! ???

Chestnut Tue 09-Nov-21 11:26:59

Even more cheesy than Virgin River is Chesapeake Shores but it's just the job if you want cheering up. Perfect people living perfect lives in a perfect setting ha ha! I have made it through the first series but by series 2 I'm getting cheese overload. Not sure I can keep going! ??
Virgin River is not quite as cheesy and perfect for some romantic escapism.

"One Chance" is a delightful feel-good movie based on the story of Paul Potts, an opera singer who worked in a call centre and won Britain's Got Talent years ago. James Corden and Julie Walters star.

valerieanne216 Tue 09-Nov-21 11:11:53

THE FALL. Set in Belfast, serial killer and the hunt for him,
Gillian Anderson is Stella Gibson, and Jamie Dornan is Paul
Spector. well worth a watch.

highlanddreams Tue 09-Nov-21 11:06:49

Esspee

Offspring is very good. It’s Australian. Main character is a female gynaecologist with a crazy family. Another great Australian one is Rake, he is a Barrister, a complete train wreck of a man but highly amusing. Not for prudes.

I love both of those as well Espee they're brillant

FannyCornforth Tue 09-Nov-21 11:01:52

‘Anne with an E’ is good. Feel good but very well made. Vanessa Redgrave is in it.
I enjoyed ‘Self Made’ too, what I watched of it.
I’m in the same position as you mrsmopp , so I’ll be following this thread, and I hope that you feel better soon thanks
The funniest thing that I probably have ever seen is ‘The Worst Week of My Life’, but I think that that is on BritBox (I’ve got the lot, me!)
‘The Job Lot’ really made me laugh too, I think that that is on Netflix smile
