Can anyone explain why, despite doing the same things, in the same order, everytime, my first cup of tea is sometimes just so much nicer than at other times?

Why is it that whenever you open a packet of pills, you always get the end with the information leaflet ? And even if you change your mind you still get it!!!

Why, when you’ve just invested in a big chunky cellotape dispenser, do the scissors take over the hiding game?

PollyTickle Thu 11-Nov-21 21:02:58

Why does the cellotape run away and hide under the wrapping paper on Christmas Eve when you’re trying to wrap dozens of presents?

Why is it that if something's lost/mislaid, you never can find it till you buy a replacement?

Or if it's one of a pair, until you eventually give up all hope of ever finding it again, and throw away the other half of the pair!

Oh yes, that too!

Why does a pneumatic drill start up in the middle of an important phone call?

Or the minute you settle yourself in a comfy chair outdoors?
Either a drill or a strimmer.

Other people's toast!? Mmmmmmmmmmmm

Gabrielle56 Thu 11-Nov-21 12:38:26

It's one for tales of the unexpected that one! Also why one brew is perfect and the other will not release its tea no matter how much you try!

How do shoe laces work their way undone no matter how well you tie them?

Until a few weeks ago Sago my shoelaces would always come undone unless I tied a double knot then I read an article which explained that tying the knot as a granny knot would keep them tied up. And it’s true, now I only need to tie one bow and they stay secure all day. I walked seven miles today and the laces stayed tied up ?

Always trust a granny!?

Why do you feel tip top healthwise when doing nothing much at all, and then feel about a hundred when something more exciting comes up for you to do?

MercuryQueen Thu 11-Nov-21 06:24:54

Why does nobody need to talk to me about anything until I'm on the phone or immersed in work? Then suddenly they all want to discuss the meaning of life.

Where do all the pens and spoons go? I should be wading knee deep in them, considering how many I've bought, but can never find one when needed.

How does it work that I put a pair of socks in the wash basket each day but end up with solitary socks when the washing is done? I also have a collection of odd gloves waiting to find their mates. DH asked why I didn't throw them, but they're too lovely to throw out and I still have a vain hope that their partners will turn up one day.

When the DC were still at home I ended up with two big carrier bags full of single socks in the airing cupboard, including some single colourful ski socks! How?
After they DC left home and we emptied drawers and cupboards, if the socks still hadn't found their mates they went to the ragman.

Why does someone always want to visit the day you want to stay in your dressing gown and have a no makeup day?
Why have i got dozens of tupperware but no lids that fit?
Why does the postman knock just as you get in to the bath?
Why is someone always nice to be after ive ranted about them to someone?

The same way the first mouthful of drink, whether tea/coffee or alcohol tastes wonderful, and so does the last mouthful of food (even when it’s gone cold) - think beef, Yorkshire pudding and gravy or egg, bacon and fried bread - lovely, Jubbly

Why do I always get stuck behind a tractor on a narrow road or someone who can't drive at more than 20 in a 50 zone?

Only when in a hurry, naturally!!

Why does a cup of tea made by somebody else taste so much better?

I always find if you have a cup of tea and it is really nice and you think I will have another one it never tastes as nice.
As to the teaspoon in the washing up bowl I remember the tv programme HOW and Jack Hargreaves saying use a glass milk bottle as a spy glass in the soapy washing up water to find that (pesky) teaspoon.

Why does my husband insist on watching the weather forecast every day yet not know if it is going to rain?

Because the weather forecasts are invariably incorrect

My first cuppa is always good, because husband makes it and brings it to me in bed smile

Couldn't agree more for the same reason. Best cup of the day smile

Why is it when I take my car for its MOT( in N.I you take it to a centre yourself) and when the guy asks me to turn on my wipers I always put the indicators on or vice versa. I use them every day with no problems, but I can't work out which is which when I get in that damn centre. They say it happens all the time, but I think they are just being polite.
