WE WILL REMEMBER THEM.
Remember all those who have fallen in wars within these last hundred years
Leaving behind their loved ones to grieve and shed their heartbroken tears.
Many thousands buried in other countries and some without a known grave
Sacrificing their lives fighting for freedom so that our lives they could save.
Remember as you go about your daily routine what they all endured for you
And remember them all with pride in your heart in everything that you do.
Husbands, lovers, brothers, sons or uncle who lost his life in his freedom fight
They helped to quell the enemy and to bring the world hope and a ray of light.
So each and every one of them were heroes who are remembered on this day
And may the good Lord keep them in his care and help the sorrow go away.
I wear my poppy with pride as I remember all nations that fought and died
They took on a mammoth task of freedom for all from which they never shied.
My poppy is a token of my deepest respect for all who gave me a full life
As well as those who fought in other wars to stem any ongoing strife.
YES I am very proud to wear my poppy on this special Remembrance Day
God Bless the souls of all who lost their lives in any world wide affray.

ANIMALS OF WAR.
Remember too the animals that took part in battles that helped to conquer the foe
Horses, ponies, camels, dogs, cats, plus pigeons carrying messages to and fro.
Bottlenosed dolphins also used by the Navy to detect and defend against the enemy
Elephants too, plus Wojtek the hero Polish Soldier Bear who left a lovely memory.

How very nice. Thank you.
I have a great-grandfather who was gassed on the fields of Ypres, and several others who served their time for their country and the freedoms we enjoy today.

Between 1914-1918 my grandfather, 2 great uncles and a cousin went to war and did not return. One has no known grave. My other grandfather survived.

Between 1914-18 my grandmother lost her husband, brother, brother-in-law and baby son. She was left the only support for her 2 small daughters, aging mother and invalid sister.

Lovely words May, as ever. And so nice to have the millions of animals who suffered and died remembered too.
What a very sad story MOnica. So very many women lost their menfolk and had to get by as best they could without today’s welfare state. So much unimaginable grief. One of my grandfathers was too old to fight. The other was shot in the head by a sniper. Recovered but the man who returned was not the one who went to war in 1914.
