Morning all. A bit damp here in Cheshire.
Have a Zoom gossip with friends arranged for this afternoon. We usually meet up but one has family members living temporarily with them who have had Covid so doesn't want to risk passing on infection.
DH going out for lunch with ex colleagues. All retired but still meet up every few months.
I was thinking yesterday how much I miss Grandmafrench Her posts were entertaining and so inclusive.
Have a peaceful Wednesday everyone.

Good morning Mick, morning all from South Lanarkshire where it’s dry and fairly bright.

We had more sad news yesterday, the father of another of DD’s friends died, he had been ill but it was still unexpected. That makes three in as many months. DD is now checking in with us daily, she is obviously becoming aware of our mortality poor girl.

I’m having my flu vaccination and covid booster this afternoon but before that I must do some supermarket shopping which I put off doing yesterday. Instead I made a huge pot of lentil soup and bunged in the remains of the ham which I’d slow cooked in cider on Sunday, we had that with some gorgeous seeded bread from the local bakers and really didn’t need anything else. Just as well really, I seem to be lacking inspiration for meals at the moment.

Finished my Lost Souls shawl at last. It took an age as I kept putting it down and forgetting where I was with it. No idea when it will ever be used but I just took a notion to see if I could do it as I’m fairly new to crochet.

DH has just broken the news that we are out of coffee beans - disaster! He’s about to make an emergency dash to the supermarket, it’ll be yon time before I get my caffeine fix which normally gets me out of bed in the morning. Hey ho, I’ll just have to get up and wash my hair while he’s hunter gathering.

Wishing everyone a peaceful day. ??

Good morning all from a dry and good looking day here on the east coast of Fife. That’s himself getting ready to strip the bed with me in it.hmm He just loves a dry day when he can get the washing out on the drying green. I’ve a fairly busy day ahead too. A zoom in the morning, making mushroom soup in the afternoon, And contemplating what to get himself for his Christmas. He’s been very special to me these last couple of years and many many more in previous years too thanks must get rid of the smell of fish which I had for tea last night it’s permeated throughout the house and no one else seems to smell it angry

Thinking of all who are worried this morning hugs all around flowers

Good morning from Shropshire.

Like Ash I had a bad reaction to my booster yesterday.Felt absolutely awful and my arm was so sore.Feeling better this morning, arm still tender so will have a quiet day #lazygran!

Scentia we bought a new bed and mattress from Dreams last year.As Ginny says, really good service. We had to lie on a bed while a computer scanned us and then recommended a number of mattresses that should suit us.We spent ages choosing but are pleased with our choice.DD2 bought one of the mattresses in a box last week and so far they are pleased with it.DGD has an IKEA mattress which again is very comfortable.Definitely try before you buy!

Lots of missing friends it would be good to hear from again on this friendly thread.Lins hope you are ok?

Take care and stay safe everyone.

Good morning and it feels very mild here in Essex. Very still again out there. I like a bit of ‘weather’. Dh will go fishing today so I will walk up to town with my trusty trolley. Hills on the way but a run back down with trolley hard on my heels ?.

Yesterday we painted the hall and the wall up the stairs. It looked awful when we had finished but now it’s dried it looks good. Fresh and clean. We will attempt the largish lounge next (when we feel energised) . Always takes longer than you think it will.?

I’ll buy fish from the market for tea. Skate is—our— my favourite. ?

Enjoy your sewing class Sar.
Hope your DIL is ok GG.

Scentia my DS1 bought a new mattress which was uncomfortable so bought a topper made from bamboo. Very pleased with it. Lots of things made from bamboo these days.

Enjoy your day, all. Whatever you are up to. ????

Good morning Mick and all from a chilly Glasgow, its only 3°C and showery.

Scentia, and Beechnut, that's not good, there is nothing worse than lack of sleep, caused by pain, everything seems somuch worse during the wee small hours.

Yesterday seemed to just disappear. My sewing machine is acting up, I can't work out what's wrong, but I am unable to find anyone locally to service it.
My solution, strip it down and give it a good clean. However, when I tried to print the troubleshooting page from the online manual, neither my wireless printer nor DH's were working.
Another hour was spent troubleshooting, then uninstalling and reinstalling. Blooming Virgin Media are too blame, our internet was on and off all day, which put the printers offline and nothing I did, could get them back online.
Unfortunately, as he was still wallowing and at death's door, MrMdoll, was reluctant to call Virgin Media, he would do anything, but that!

I seemed to be away with the fairies discombobulated yesterday: thought Soop was going into the hospital near us on Monday, wore two odd slippers, without noticing, found the missing pockets on my dress, it was on back to front all day and posted a message to Soop on the wrong thread! I am an eejit!

Hoping to see DS2 today, a rare treat, followed by a trip to the hairdresser's, late afternoon, when there will be no-one else in the shop. The staff are so kind to me. Looking forward to catching up on all the local gossip and may even catch a glimpse of Borrheid's Mum.

A special mention for Georgesgran and any who are struggling.?

Enjoy your day, whatever your plans.

Good morning from a dry North Leicestershire - as Dragonfly said -but it does look a bit overcast.

Carer's course today and then I have to complete my Sainsbury's shop.

Yesterday I bought new bras - it must be a long time since I last did as I was shocked at the price.

We have just bought a new mattress, Scentia, a John Lewis Hybrid. It's lovely. It is also no turn just swivelled. Our previous bed, a Tempur, was 19 years old.

ginny Wed 10-Nov-21 07:44:27

Good morning all.
Scentia we bought 2 new mattresses last week from Dreams. Great service and lots of advice.
I have baby Charlie for a couple of hours this morning, so a walk is probably on the cards
This afternoon I shall start swapping over all the bedding so that I can use the new bed linen and curtains bought for my room
Hope Wednesday is good to all and there are a few smiles in your day.

Good morning all from a grey skied East Yorkshire. It is very mild though as was yesterday.

We had a good laugh about various topics at my coffee morning. I think it was just the tonic one of the ladies needed as the inevitable outcome for a problem her husband is suffering has been decided.

Fingers crossed neither me or DH had any reaction to our booster jabs we had in the afternoon.
After school we had dgs. Since starting school he has taken an interest in drawing and he set grandad and me tasks. I had to draw a cat. It isn’t one of my assets but I had a go he came and looked at it and said “Mm not bad” ?

I have no plans for today . There are a couple of places I might go. Depends how early I get myself sorted!
Haapy Birthday to your granddaughter Sar

Take care.

Pittcity Wed 10-Nov-21 07:29:16

Scentia we are fans of pocket sprung firm mattresses.

Pittcity Wed 10-Nov-21 07:28:08

Good morning from a grey skied Colchester. It seems mild.
Usual Wednesday morning coffee meetup in town. I must pop into the bank beforehand as my app is playing up and apparently I need to contact them. Metro Bank will help me reset it there and then with no faffing with passwords etc over the phone.
Will pop into Sainsbugs for inspiration foodwise too.
Love to all ?x

Good morning from Essex by the sea where it is at least dry.
I have my U3A sewing group this morning, more chat less sewing, and I need to buy some embroidery thread on the way.
It is DGD3's 10th birthday today, I will ring her later to wish her a happy birthday. I won't see her, or her sister's, until Boxing Day sad
DH will be home late this afternoon.
Have a wonderful Wednesday everyone xx

dragonfly46 Wed 10-Nov-21 07:17:11

Good morning from a dry Leicestershire.

Dog walk, coffee with friends, dog walk and Scrabble with other friends today.

I have aJohn Lewis mattress with a down topper and it is very snuggly Scentia. My DS has one of these new mattresses on his guest bed that you buy in a box which seems very comfortable at first but gives me backache.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Ashcombe Wed 10-Nov-21 07:16:34

Good morning, one and all, from a wet but mild Torbay.

Like others here, I’ve had a reaction to my booster, which was Pfizer. I struggled through the guided tour of the theatre I’d promised to do then collapsed at home with flu like symptoms for much of the day, very glad that olddudders was here. By the evening. I was fine again.

Scentia: I have arthritis and bought a new mattress about four years ago, which is the firmest sold by Benson's. When I ordered it, the salesman encouraged me to lie on a special one which could be set at seven different levels of firmness. He was surprised that I chose the hardest setting but it’s been ideal, even moreso since DH has had his back problem. He’s just volunteered to look for the manufacturer’s label but without success. Having looked at their website, I should think it’s an orthopaedic one.

Happy hump day, everyone! ?????

Beechnut Wed 10-Nov-21 07:16:15

Good Morning from Severnside where it is damp.

I woke about 5am and was hurting with the kind of hurt you know won’t go away so I got up and rubbed in some Voltarol and nodded off for a few hours.

I’ve some sorting to do today and Beechnutella will be coming later to pick up some stuff.

I always think of EV when I buy crumpets.
Take care all ???

Jaxjacky Wed 10-Nov-21 07:08:00

Good morning all from S Hants, looks cloudy but dry. Sounds like a good holiday Kim safe journey home.
New mattress ASAP Scentia, lost sleep is not on.
Wednesday is my day on the voluntary phone, , so I won’t be going far, but do need to tidy my clothes up.
Enjoy today ???

monk08 Wed 10-Nov-21 06:58:37

Good morning Mick and all who follow from the Black country. Curtains still closed so don't know what weather is doing. Mums and toddlers this morning with Dil. I mainly keep an eye on Dgs as Dil is the organiser, also supply teas for the mums and clear away afterwards.
Nothing else planned so will catch up on some tele and my reading.
Thoughts with missing posters and virtual hugs where needed. Enjoy your Wednesday and may you all find some ?.

Pantglas2 Wed 10-Nov-21 06:37:04

Oh Scentia poor you suffering with poor sleep, I know I couldn’t bear it and we have a very firm mattress both here in Wales and Spain to alleviate a tendency for backache.

I’m happy with the Ikea ones which you simply swivel (no flipping) and ours are deep sprung rather than the foam. I do think you need to lie on a few before buying but I believe they do a 90day trial in case you’re unhappy.

I’m sure others will be along shortly with their own suggestions of what’s worked for them so best of luck ?

notgran Wed 10-Nov-21 06:31:34

Here in NE Hampshire, it's so dark still, I'm not sure what the weather is doing. I have to be off in an hour or so to drive for a swim then an Aqua Jog session. I am trying to lose weight and I do enjoy swimming. I am a slow swimmer so I try to go 4/5 times a week. Started this in July when a new Leisure Centre opened up in a nearby town. Then Slimming World tonight. The regular weigh ins help me to eat sensibly for part of the week smile

grandMattie Wed 10-Nov-21 06:26:30

Scentia, we have a pretty firm mattress for our backs but I’ve put a thick, cheap duvet on top. Now we are both snuggly and comfy!

Pantglas2 Wed 10-Nov-21 06:25:07

Morning all from a dry and dark north Wales and the chamberpot ☕️is warming while the tea brews and I do my necessary yoga stretches to keep a wayward back from wandering ?

A titivating day for me - pedicure and facial all done with my own fair hands and a pork and apple casserole to be prepped in the slow cooker - how busy am I!

Will think of missing posters this morning, too many - and one in particular as I munch my sourdough crumpets and sea salt crystal butter!

A good day for all x

grandMattie Wed 10-Nov-21 06:24:06

Good morning from a grey E Kent. No rain, but it rarely rains here - all round us but not here, oddly enough!
Got an appointment for my feet at 0800, so need to scamper a bit. I’ll probably breakfast on my own as DH doesn’t get up - as a matter of principle - before 0730! I’m all dressed and ready having left my stuff including my earrings (!) in the spare room.
DGD was thrilled with her bags. I suggested that if she wanted to give some away, she should putin an order. The idea was picked up immediately and she’s sending me the pictures to be appliquéd.
A van is coming this afternoon to pick up furniture for DD. She decided she wanted a couple of pieces, When we cleared Philip’s house, and it’s been in the garage since. DH likes to stable his little car and is getting fed up waiting for the garage to be cleared - DGS is the main culprit, but his stuff is more books, DVDs and CDs by the million. Honestly!
I hope you all have a day free of pain, sorrow or anxiety. Carpe diem. ???☀️☀️???

Scentia Wed 10-Nov-21 06:18:56

Good Morning all from East Staffordshire where it is actually quite mild.
I was up at 3am this morning as once I wake I am in pain with our stupid mattress and can’t drop off again. I was at work at 4.00am and had to knock on the unit next door so they would move their cars as they were parked over my front door. I think I frightened them, he was very reluctant to come out?
I can’t see me lasting a full day so we will see how the day pans out, and woe betide DH if he dares to question me going home early or purchasing a new mattress. We are not poor people and our mattress is 20 years old, the new one I bought 7 years ago is horrible and lives on the guest bed. I have read you should change them every 7 years anyway. I would like some recommendations on a mattress for a chubby old lady with arthritis!!
Have a nice day folks❤️

Kim19 Wed 10-Nov-21 06:09:34

Morning Michael! I've livened up the IoW for you and kept a couple of lovely eateries ticking over until you get there. Today is departure and an overnighter in London before I head back north. Have seriously enjoyed the warmer temperature here as well as all the other stuff. However, as always, it will be nice to be home. Enjoy your Wednesday everyone!

Michael12 Wed 10-Nov-21 06:00:14
