I have recently heard about this but don’t think I would be keen to try it,have any of you tried it and what do you think?

The bubbles and straws make good gifts - you can add them to your own fruit juice. I don't know much about the hot ones, but the same probably applies.

I can’t imagine drinking something like that ?

lemongrove Fri 12-Nov-21 20:55:25

Perhaps bubble tea is really for those who don’t really like tea.
Just as the popularity of modern cocktails are for those who’s tastes don’t really enjoy alcohol.?brew

Anything with hot milk and tapioca would be vom juice for me, I'm afraid. I hated rice, tapioca and sago pudding at school. The smell of hot milk makes me nauseous and just looking at the skin of hot milk tips me over the edge.

It’s delicious, but definitely not an everyday treat!

Smiffy58 Fri 12-Nov-21 17:26:28

I've not tried bubble tea, but quite partial to an occasional faluda, a similar concept but with basil seeds, that swell up and pop in the mouth! Mr Basil brand from my local supermarket owned by an Indian family.

I dislike it,but my grandchildren like going as a treat

lemongrove Fri 12-Nov-21 16:01:27

Never heard of it.
I don’t have anything sweet to drink, in any case. Will stick to Earl Grey tea in my china mug.?

MissAdventure Fri 12-Nov-21 16:00:07

"Male" tesers, according to my phone!
The mind boggles.

Calistemon Fri 12-Nov-21 15:58:36

What have I missed?!

MissAdventure Fri 12-Nov-21 15:55:57

There is a maletsers hot chocolate already.
Would it be the same, or would it pop in your mouth?

Calistemon Fri 12-Nov-21 15:52:23

I wonder what hot chocolate would be like with Maltesers in it?

MissAdventure Fri 12-Nov-21 15:28:50

Sounds good to me smile

Hetty58 Fri 12-Nov-21 15:25:13

You might as well chuck a packet of jelly sweets in a milkshake!

Bazza Fri 12-Nov-21 15:14:23

I need to get out more, I’ve never heard of it.

I love tapioca. ?

Surely it's not normal to love tapioca? ?

I only put one in my mouth once, never again!
Frogspawn as it was known at school.

I don't think I'll be trying this tea.

Dépends what one’s interpretation of normal is Cali ?

Frogspawn at our school too.

I had first dibs on an extra helping from any girl who didn’t want hers. Wonderful stuff.

GDs quickly tired of this craze, finding it too sweet and too expensive to spend pocket money on. My treat at their age was Creamola Foam.

?
Yes, another girl on my table used to eat my frogspawn and sago too.
I do like rice pudding.

The picture in the OP is enough to put me off; I hope no-one I know orders it when I'm out with them!

Greciangirl Fri 12-Nov-21 15:07:44

What on earth is bubble tea?

MissAdventure Fri 12-Nov-21 15:00:59

I need to try it, I think.
Does it pop in your mouth?

nipsmum Fri 12-Nov-21 14:50:00

I certainly don't want an expensive drink that has Tapioca in it. It has no health benefits as far as I know.

Chocolatelovinggran Fri 12-Nov-21 13:55:47

Well, I've just one question- on which level is this tea??

Joesoap Fri 12-Nov-21 13:21:44

Doesnt sound like my cup of tea at all

Bluecat Fri 12-Nov-21 13:10:33

I have had bubble tea once in a Chinese restaurant. It was OK but nothing to rave about.

There was a recent case of a 14 year old girl in China who was taken to hospital and found to have over 100 undigested "bubbles" in her stomach. Just something to bear in mind if your grandkids drink a lot of bubble tea. Sounds like the bubbles might be hard to digest.

Cornwallandgin Fri 12-Nov-21 13:09:33

My Daughter loves Bubble tea but it isn't for me.
