Morning All. That’s a relief sued, I’m so pleased you are home and warm. Good luck with the bear, I’m sure he will find many things to keep him occupied. A relief for you too nannytopsy, Charlie cat has bounced back, good for him.

Thinking of you all today maddyone. Sad news for you Aldom. flowers.

Hello to benjamina. You’re right, stillearning, women can be the best support to each other. I’ll finally get to the big computer today and will add my bit to soop’s pot.

Oh goodness urms, I truly can’t tolerate pork belly or indeed belly pork. Isn’t it good we are all so different?

Take care everyone.

After convincing us and the emergency vet that he was breathing his last, before a miraculous recovery on Tuesday night, Charlie cat went to our vet today. Blood samples were analysed and he was pronounced the fittest 18 year old she had seen. His results were good enough for a 4 year old! Whatever ailed him was transient!

SueD I am so glad that your home is ok and warming up. Good luck with the bear! Been there, done that and also been on the handing out end!

Welcome back Gaga and DH. Hello to the new posters.
Sleep tight everyone!

Dear kitcheners, I don’t know where I’ve got to in my tale of Storm Arwen woe so forgive if I repeat myself. Power was restored last night and we trekked back home today to check out the house. Glory be, the boiler had restarted! It was reasonably warm and will be fine by tomorrow when we go back home properly.

I had to throw out all the food from the freezers. Five bin bags, all told. ???. However, my house plants had survived, which I was very happy about, even though I can’t eat them.grin

I am looking after 4yo GD all weekend and today I learnt that I am also responsible for caring for the nursery school teddy bear all weekend! I’ve got to give him lots of experiences and provide photographic proof or his adventures! shock unless I can get to the supermarket in the morning, I’m afraid I have nothing with which to feed him, not even porridge. grin

Aldom I’m so sorry, such sad news. flowers

Maddyone I hope the day goes as well as can be expected. flowers

Hello Benjamina Welcome to the kitchen. I agree, York is an amazing city and have visited it myself many times, including the Christmas Market.

Good news about the boiler Jax. I've had an offer to do some voluntary work for CornwallMind. Having a zoom chat with the organiser in a few days.

Sad times Aldon and Maddyone. My sympathies for you and your families.

I've always called it belly pork Urms. Why and when did it change? All recipes I now find say pork belly.

Thank you soop and MrSoop for the messages. I hope some are sharing the donation page across other social media. We need to spread the word. I've shared it on Twitter.

Oh what a lovely surprise it is to hear from you Mr.Soop. I can’t remember if you have joined us before in your dear lady’s kitchen or if this is a first. Whatever, I wish you a warm welcome and would like to take the opportunity to thank you for taking the time to respond personally re; our dear Soop’s fund raiser. It was a pleasure to do whatever possible for her, something I have gleaned over the years, gives you pleasure too. Everything crossed the target is met. Love and strength to you both. ? x

Hi all - your right Urms - women do care about women - in these dark times thats an amazing thing and its something to celebrate!!
Back in the apartment now - ready to have a great tomorrow - hoping lots of us have will - but sending caring thoughts to those struggling - life is flipping horrible at times - thats whats make me cling to the good bits (whilst possible) xx

Urmstongran Thu 02-Dec-21 21:41:10

Oh and hi to you too Stilllearning! What an uplifting thing to say about women. Too right. We care - a lot - don’t we?

‘Evening All’.

Just home after a delicious meal out - literally round the corner from our apartment entrance. It’s new and came highly recommended by friends. It’s called ‘Proost’ which apparently means ‘cheers’ in Belgium. Amazing food. Makes me smile how belly pork, which I chose, is now called pork belly.

? for you Gagagran you have been through so much. And a big hi to you benjamina ? it’s lovely to welcome a newbie to soops famous gaff.

Himself is watching the second half of the Man. Utd match against the Gunners now. He must be a glutton for punishment ....

Stilllearning Thu 02-Dec-21 20:54:01

I occasionally read but have never posted on this thread but wanted to add my support for the challenges soop is facing, I’m a strong believer in the help women give women and have donated.

Hello Benjamina glad you dropped in. Sounds like you’ve had a wonderful day.

Thinking of you and your husband for tomorrow Maddy

benjamina Thu 02-Dec-21 20:37:15

Hi all - I usually just "lurk" but decided to take the plunge and join in - I did intend to be on the good morning thread but am away at the minute in york (wed till sat) and time ran way with me!
This morning just flew passed and we were out early - the weather today has been beautiful - cold and bright - the city has been gorgeous - markets are on - we walked on the walls - and later did lots of christmas shopping - I know from other posts some people have struggles - good thoughts are sent to them - I looked at soops GFM and thats doing well - joined in with that too - every little helps x

Aldom Thu 02-Dec-21 20:04:10

Hoping for a gentle day for you and the family tomorrow maddyone ?
Boiler fixed properly today, hurrah. Lifts for the callers yesterday sorted, my drive for a client to the dentist done. It’s bitterly cold, MrJ cooked tonight (drove to get fish and chips)!, it was lush.
It’s good to see you back safe and PCR’d Grannmarie I vicariously enjoyed your trip, thanks.
Have a pleasant evening all x

Blossoming Thu 02-Dec-21 18:58:46

maddyone Thu 02-Dec-21 17:38:56

Gagagran oh my goodness, what a lot your husband and yourself have been through, but it’s lovely to hear how well he is doing now.

Thank you to Mr Soop for his very kind message. I will look in a minute to see how the fund is going.

Aldon I’m so sorry to hear of your loss. It’s always a very difficult time. Tomorrow is the funeral of my dear mother in law.

Granmarie so glad to hear you’re home safely after an elongated journey. You’ve had a lovely few days, it must have been lovely to see your family after all this time. It’s always a relief when the PCR test comes back negative. Now you can relax.

Now we have arrived safely after a good journey. We’ve settled in at the hotel and are now at my husband’s father’s house. DH is making dinner in the kitchen. Two of DH’s brothers were here but have gone home now. It was a relief to see them before tomorrow. There will be so many family here tomorrow who we have not seen for so long because of Covid.

To anyone I haven’t mentioned, greetings.

TillyTrotter Thu 02-Dec-21 17:25:45
