Soop's wonderful, warm and welcoming kitchen

Oooh a lot of you have had very blowy and cold weather. Here on the south coast the temperature managed to reach 4 C in the middle of the day, so not bad at all. I hope there are no more power cuts soop and none for anyone else.

Urm glad you’ve got your taste back. I’d really miss taste if I lost it, and I didn’t even lose it when I had Covid last January.
Thank you everyone who’s sent good wishes for my mother. She’s cosy and warm in her care home bubble, so I’m not too worried as the bubbles are tight, no one allowed to cross from one bubble to another, including staff, so hopefully there’ll be no more infections and in a couple of weeks we’ll be able to visit again. I talk to her on the phone instead of visiting for now.
We had a lovely lunch with our son and his wife today, at their home. Roast beef and all the trimmings and pear crumble and cream.
We didn’t manage to talk to our grandchildren in New Zealand this weekend, so feeling sad about that, but lots of pictures came through, and they’ve put up their Christmas tree already, all wearing summer clothes.

Back home after a thoroughly enjoyable if exhausting day out on a coach. So nice that neither of us need to drive and deal with the falling snow, we could both just sit back and relax. I feel more such trips coming on. .

It was windy early today but this evening it was still very cold but no wind. I only opened the front door because I had to sort out the bins for tomorrow. If this is November, what is January going to be like?

Though not a hundred miles from Urms we have had snow most of the day and it is freezing now.
Had a lovely meal out with GD, her friend and her friend’s mum.
Although she is younger than my D she was lovely, we just got on so well.
My GD’s friends are so accepting of me, we are invited out for Boxing Day and New Years Eve, the second a dinner party with her friend’s father, his partner and her parents.
My calendar has never been so full.
I feel very blessed.

‘Evening All’

We had snow here at midday in south Manchester for a couple of hours. Since then it seems warmer out. I had a lovely long phone call with a friend who said ‘c’mon now, enough Netflix and reading it’s time to think about getting out and about’. I’ve known her years. She knows me well. It was good to talk.

Just had text from DD. The PCR test was negative. All clear now for her phased return to work.

Just back from a lovely overnight stay with friends. Took boots and slippers as requested. Amazing couple. They knew MrM was still nervous about getting out, so they hadn't socialised themselves for a full week. Got so many useful ideas for our new build (interior). Mya got a double dose of walks !

Lots of thoughts about everyone suffering from the storm yesterday. Hope today is calmer so everything can get back to normal..

Good evening lovely Kitcheners. The dreadful winds have gone but it is very cold, the thermometer hasn’t gone above 0°C all day! We have had a few light snow flurries but not sticking. Hope you all have power and heat, hugs to any poorly Kitcheners.

I have my first NDPP ‘Healthier You’ zoom meeting tomorrow, a bit apprehensive but I do want the support, I need help with this.

Pretty calm weather here today, but very cold. We rarely get the harsh extremes, so my sympathy with those having lost their power, hopefully not too much damage for you all.
My doctored nose is struggling with having a cold, but not allowed to blow. It’s annoying, but minor compared to others problems.
Just about to switch the oven on to roast some chicken legs, sauce is ready, mash and veg will accompany, well eat after Dr Who.

It has been snowing here since lunchtime too but it seems to be thawing a bit now.

We have cheese topped cottage pie in the oven and I am sitting with a lovely chilled rose reading the papers.

We have, though, done the Christmas list so I feel all is right with the world.

BladeAnnie your description sounds so cosy. Susan I found clearing out my dad's things really difficult. ? For your dh. I've just had homemade lasagne and it was lovely! Blowing my own trumpet I know. Savoury and cheesy. It's icy in Polmont and I nearly fell all my length putting the bucket out.

We have been down in West Wales for a few days,was meant to be one day but due to Storm Arwen we couldn’t get home.We were staying in a lovely hotel so not too much of a hardship!DH spent some time sorting out his dads things,still a lot to do but he made a good start.Sent a wave across the estuary to Lins and Cherry??

Got home to find the fence had blown down.Replacing it was on our to do list so will just have to be done sooner rather than later?

DH has just brought me pie,mashed potatoes and peas so will say goodnight.

A late good afternoon from a snowy mid-Notts. The white stuff has been falling since lunchtime so we have quite a covering. Nowhere to go, the log burner working it's magic in the living room and a tempting smell coming from the kitchen where a lamb casserole is almost slow cooked to perfection. My thoughts are with all if you who have suffered power cuts and property damage during the severe weather. DGD (aged two) has been standing looking at the snow saying "it's Christmas!!". How cute ?. Everyone stay safe and enjoy the rest of Sunday

Urms The disorderly queue is growing by the minute. I bags a handful of Maltesers...okay...that's greedy. Two or three would melt deliciously on my tongue right this minute.

We also lost the internet connection this afternoon. The longest power cut was in the early hours. I had to feel my way to the lavvy in pitch blackness. Mr Soop has located a torch, just in case such a thing occurs tonight.

After our friend visits tomorrow with thoughts on opening a crowdfunding page, I shall report back to you.

It really is special seeing some of our dear friends coming back to the kitchen. Welcome back.
