Why are so many old threads being resurrected?

I have noticed over the last few weeks that lots of old threads are suddenly resurrected long after the original poster has gone.
Often the posters adding to the posts seem unaware that they are out of date.

When I went to the bottle bank this morning, it said on the radio that the Queen was not there as she had pulled her back? that may not have been the correct wording...

I would like to raise something. WHO suggested Alma's not normal? It was definitely someone on Gransnet...well....I watched two episodes yesterday with my husband who now refers to it as 'your sex program' He seems completely disgusted grin I told him it was recommended on Gransnet and he said effin hell grin

Very much so Grayling.

I thought he not only looked sombre but seemed very emotional. Perhaps thinking of his late father and also the fact that his mother is having health problems. I felt the tears weren't very far away.

I have no idea whether Boris can sing, but if anyone enjoys choral music I have just listened to four choristers singing "In Flanders Fields" on BBC1 Songs of Praise. So pure, the hairs on the back of my neck stood up!

Going off topic, but I wonder if Boris Johnson has a good singing voice? It’s just I notice he always looks to sing quite lustily at events such as at the Cenotaph this morning.

Of course, he might just enjoy singing hymns or he could be simply miming.

This has made me laugh ?.

Who knows, but it could also be that he is just very confident of his own abilities, or doesn't care if he drowns others out.

There are very few subjects that have not been discussed so they are bound to come around again. If a new one is started someone will point out that there is already a thread about it so it makes sense just to add to an old one.

I always watch that with bated breath Calendargirl in case someone misses their footing.

Made me pause for thought too Namsnanny

Given her age I think a strained back (although painful I’m sure) is a less serious problem than many others which could have necessitated the Queen having to rest.

Very disappointing for her to have missed today’s ceremony but I expect ‘an abundance of caution’ as the phrase goes has been used.

I’m surprised (a bit) that nobody has started a thread about Her Majesty not making an appearance today. I suppose we’re all scared of saying the wrong thing / being accused of saying the wrong thing

There is some wild speculation on MN - feels just a little distasteful to me

Namsnanny Sun 14-Nov-21 12:24:31

Highjacking by me, sorry.

Namsnanny Sun 14-Nov-21 12:23:22

I'm speculating of course, but I think the Queen would have attended the ceremony, if at all possible. It made me pause for thought.

eazybee Sun 14-Nov-21 12:03:46

It was announced that the Queen would not attend at about nine o'clock, I think. She has sprained her back, apparently.
Rather worrying.

I revived the thread 'harry and megan' (sic) because a thread concerning them had been removed with no explanation. The original poster then stated a thread asking why, and sensibly both threads have been allowed to remain and a lively discussion ensued.

Calendargirl Sun 14-Nov-21 11:51:52

I didn’t know the Queen wasn’t going to be there until David Dimbleby announced it. I had only switched on a few minutes before 11. I’m sure she would have gone if at all possible.

Sounding a bit frivolous, I’m always pleased when the wreath layers have stepped back from the task, especially the Royals who have to go up steps. Have visions of them missing their footing and toppling over backwards!

shock

And didn't Prince Charles look very sombre as he laid his absent mother's wreath?

Maybe start a new thread if you think old ones are being resurrected too much ?

She did!
Though I really do wish that more people would start threads

FannyCornforth Sun 14-Nov-21 10:14:47

Wasn’t that thread revived via a ‘Why was my thread deleted?’ thread? Or has that been deleted too?

FannyCornforth Sun 14-Nov-21 10:13:24

I did say that it may be out of boredom, I sometimes read old threads. There are some good ones out there!
She who cannot be named; US former actress and (former?) member of the British RF.

Calendargirl Sun 14-Nov-21 10:12:41

She sometimes features on the Royal pages AGA

AGAA4 Sun 14-Nov-21 10:06:55

Who is that calendargirl? Or is it she who must not be named? I must have missed that thread.

Calendargirl Sun 14-Nov-21 10:01:41

I take it ‘quiet’ is another way of saying ‘it’s a bit boring’ Fanny?

The most interesting thread recently was about ‘she who mustn’t be talked about’ though…..

FarNorth Sun 14-Nov-21 09:54:42

If the new post looks like a genuine reply, maybe the person has googled a topic and the thread has come up & they didn't notice its date.
