Thank you for taking us down memory lane Calistemon.

How about Porridge, Citizen Smith, The Good Life. I've been watching Man About The House on TV in the afternoons lately....ohhhh the clothes, the haircuts.....such happy memories.

I like it. It's a nice change to just watch something and just enjoy it and relax. Love all the characters. Nice to see actors I know who they are. To many things I haven't got a clue who some of the actors are and some of the plots are so far fetched I give up watching.

If anyone likes a really good ghost story with excellent actors there's a film on BBC iPlayer called Awakening . Well worth watching. And the Nicole Kidman film on there called the Destroyer. A very different role for her also excellent.

I enjoy it as a bit of fun on a Saturday evening, and the sunshine is lovely.

However, I don't understand why a stray Englishwoman who keeps telling us she is 'not an expert', is taken so seriously by the French police. She's even allowed at the crime scenes.

Like the vicar in Grantchester, NotTooOld! ?

I can't understand it half the time, probably because some of the characters mumble (might be my ears) and there are a lot of leaps of faith, if you know what I mean, but the scenery is gorgeous (ok, it's not France but still nice).

Having said that, I do like watching it because it is sunny and warm and relaxing even with the odd murder thrown in. I wonder if there will be a second series?

Agree totally. Very silly but fun! A bit like “Death in Pardise” without the murders, on the whole…

It's a bit of daytime tut to my mind. The TV version of Haribo sweets. Just the thing on occasion, but you wouldn't make a meal of them.

I know Gozo quite well so I just can't suspend my disbelief and convince myself that we are in France. Even the building interiors scream Malta/Gozo.

Totally agree with the poster who said Sally Lindsay always looks the same. Love her as I do when I watched her in this show I kept expecting Nigel Havers to appear and for them to start talking about country house hotels.

I'm enjoying this series. It doesn't take itself too seriously and is an easy, entertaining watch. It's just a pity they shoot it in Malta and Gozo and pretend they are in the south of France. The village and surroundings look nothing like France and just sticking a few French road signs and shop/cafe signs up fools nobody.

I can’t make out who the target audience is. The first episode I saw contained references to the Song of Roland and its author, Turoldus, and actually prompted me to take my dusty paperback, scribbled on copy off the shelf.

Just wrap yourself in a blanket with a cup of cocoa and enjoy it for what it is. Gentle plot, lots of sunshine and pretty scenery and some nice characters. It makes a pleasant change from all the hard hitting, gritty dramas and will leave you feeling up rather than down.

There’s been another thread on this, when it first aired. I haven’t watched it, the trailers make it look a bit daft and I find Sally Lindsay looks the same in most of her parts.
