The rumours say that she tried to get out of the marriage once she found out that he had fathered yet another child during the time he was with her. She even went to the South African embassy in Monaco for sanctuary, but was unable to leave the country and in the end apparently agreed to a deal that she could leave once she had provided an heir. There are photos of her crying throughout her wedding.

These are rumours that have been in the press countless times without being sued so I assume there's an element of truth in them.

I feel so sorry for her. She is clearly desperately unhappy (shaving part of her head, and being photographed looking very thin) and she is trapped because of the children.

He has got 3 or is it 4 illegitimate children, another one coming to light after the marriage.

My heart goes out to her.

I remember reading about how unhappy she was a while ago and now she has the children she will find it hard to leave because she will never be able to gain custody.

What an arrogant, selfish man he must be.

I think I also read somewhere she tried her best to get out of it and do a runner pre nuptials but the palaver surrounding these types of weddings was well under way and as Diana was allegedly told "your face is already on the t towels" when she was having second thoughts. Once the merchandise is ready to go it seems it's a done deal!

She does seem a very troubled woman, but coping with lots of clandestine affairs and children coming out of the woodwork maybe she didn't realise what she'd signed up for.......also she has to live in pink palace

It is very strange. She looks very unhappy in photos and if smiling looks put on. She also looks like she has anorexia. She could possibly have any number of mental health problems but as we know Royalty don't admit these exist!

I have read a few books about Princess Grace of Monaco and it seems that even she struggled to be happy. It must take a very special kind of person to assume these kind of roles.

I just hope the poor woman doesn't see pictures of her children, holding up notices, saying they miss their mummy. Who on earth thought that was a good idea

It has been so clear how much this poor woman is struggling, not surprisingly as she eventually realised she has no freedom and must be obeyed by a playboy who is still playing the part.

My heart goes out to her and I feel, now that she has produced the necessary heirs, Albert has no further use of her.

Reminds me of Diana’s unhappy marriage into royalty.
