OLD AGE THINKING.

LYING AROUND, PONDERING THE PROBLEMS OF THE WORLD, I REALIZED THAT AT MY AGE I DON'T REALLY GIVE A DAMN ANYMORE. IF WALKING IS GOOD FOR YOUR HEALTH, THE POSTMAN WOULD BE IMMORTAL. A WHALE SWIMS ALL DAY, ONLY EATS FISH, AND DRINKS WATER, BUT IS STILL FAT. A RABBIT RUNS AND HOPS AND ONLY LIVES 15 YEARS, WHILE A TORTOISE DOESN'T RUN AND DOES MOSTLY NOTHING, YET IT LIVES FOR 150 YEARS. AND THEY TELL US TO EXERCISE? I DON'T THINK SO. NOW THAT I'M OLDER, HERE'S WHAT I'VE DISCOVERED:

1. I STARTED OUT WITH NOTHING, AND I STILL HAVE MOST OF IT.
2. MY WILD OATS ARE MOSTLY ENJOYED WITH PRUNES AND ALL-BRAN.
3. FUNNY, I DON'T REMEMBER BEING ABSENT-MINDED.
4. FUNNY, I DON'T REMEMBER BEING ABSENT-MINDED.
5. IF ALL IS NOT LOST, THEN WHERE THE HECK IS IT?
6. IT WAS A WHOLE LOT EASIER TO GET OLDER THAN IT WAS TO GET WISER.
7. SOME DAYS, YOU'RE THE TOP DOG, SOME DAYS YOU'RE THE HYDRANT.
8. I WISH THE BUCK REALLY DID STOP HERE, I SURE COULD USE A FEW OF THEM.
9. KIDS IN THE BACKSEAT CAUSE ACCIDENTS.
10. ACCIDENTS IN THE BACK SEAT CAUSE KIDS.
11. IT IS HARD TO MAKE A COMEBACK WHEN YOU HAVEN'T BEEN ANYWHERE.
12. THE WORLD ONLY BEATS A PATH TO YOUR DOOR WHEN YOU'RE IN THE BATHROOM.
13. IF GOD WANTED ME TO TOUCH MY TOES, HE'D HAVE PUT THEM ON MY KNEES.
14. WHEN I'M FINALLY HOLDING ALL THE RIGHT CARDS, EVERYONE WANTS TO PLAY CHESS.
15. IT IS NOT HARD TO MEET EXPENSES . . . THEY'RE EVERYWHERE.
16. THE ONLY DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A RUT AND A GRAVE IS THE DEPTH.
17. THESE DAYS, I SPEND A LOT OF TIME THINKING ABOUT THE HEREAFTER . . .
I GO SOMEWHERE TO GET SOMETHING, AND THEN WONDER WHAT I'M "HERE AFTER."
18. FUNNY, I DON'T REMEMBER BEING ABSENT-MINDED.
19. IT IS A LOT BETTER TO BE SEEN THAN VIEWED.
20. HAVE I SENT THIS MESSAGE TO YOU BEFORE??? . . . OR DID I GET IT.

I thought it was funny. Terry Wogan used to quote the whale one...always made me smile.

Thank you Maywalk. My DH and I were talking about age over the weekend, and feeling fed up with the ailments we get. Read your post to him. We love it.

AGAA4 Tue 23-Nov-21 19:52:32

Most of us love your posts May so keep them coming. It can be good to laugh at ourselves sometimes.

Differing opinions on a subject are normal, How boring ife would be if we all agreed with each other all the time.

As far as I know there has been no friction on this thread. I merely expressed a different opinion to other people. You ought ot be used to me doing that by now!

Germanshepherdsmum Tue 23-Nov-21 18:59:23

Please carry on May. Your posts are wonderful.

LauraNorderr Tue 23-Nov-21 18:43:26

Don’t stop posting Maywalk, the majority of us enjoy the fun in your posts.
I love your poetry too,

FannyCornforth Tue 23-Nov-21 18:38:55

PS it’s highly unusual for a rabbit to live for 15 years!

FannyCornforth Tue 23-Nov-21 18:35:50

Maynot at all, please keep posting!
I be was just agreeing with Monica, not necessarily disagreeing with you!

Maywalk Tue 23-Nov-21 18:29:38

My goodness if a post like the main one on here is going to cause friction among folk I wont bother putting any more on.

God Bless All.

FannyCornforth Tue 23-Nov-21 18:14:44

Fair playMonica
You most certainly are not ‘grumpy’, yet another stereotype

M0nica Tue 23-Nov-21 18:08:23

No, not a grumpy post. I simply have a different reaction to these posts to other people. They have the the same effect on me as a fingernail down a blackboard.

There are not many of them about so I rarely even think of the subject, but grumpy? No I just have a different opinion

Thanks ladies.

To have a laugh helps the meds go down and I very often get the above sent to me from around the world from those I have been in contact with for over 16 years through my WW2 website.
Having a laugh at life, be it old age or anything else, is the mainstay of my daily life.
Cheers everyone.

Sweetpeasue Tue 23-Nov-21 17:27:55

Monica, what a grumpy post. Hope you find your sense of humour soon.

Mapleleaf Tue 23-Nov-21 17:01:33

Brought a smile to my face Maywalk. Keep them coming, don’t worry about stereotypes - I think we’re old enough and wise enough to see your post for what it is, i.e, a bit of fun in these drear times - goodness, we need it ?

Lincslass Tue 23-Nov-21 16:53:47
