Thank you pantglas for the recipe. I might give that a go.
What do you find yourself avoiding more as you get older?
Good Morning Wednesday 29th April 2026
It’s been a while so I will start us off…….whats for supper and why?
Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark, dry and cold here in brackley this morning , today besides normal bus trip out to Bicester .
I will continue to do some more housework before I go out.
The coach firm I use seem to be planning more day trips to shows and other events for next year .
Take Care,
Mick
Thank you pantglas for the recipe. I might give that a go.
Pants. mine looked nothing like that!
I might give it a go! DH has been complaining about shop bought, pickled beetroot, so I have started bottling my own. Very successful and half the price into the bargain!
No spoilers for Jack Reacher, please. I'm waiting for it to come out in paperback next year. I have all the others in paperback too. hugs
Pleased to hear you have less back pain GrannySomerset hoping this means you will now have much needed interrupted sleep.
Nothing you could possibly do to stop the progress of your DH’s Dreadful disease, take heart that he is now in the right place for all his needs. ?
Here I am goddessing domestically??, efficiently (1hr from peel to pot) and economically (£2 for ingredients and gas) and my feel good factor is brimming ?
Time to settle down with Jack for the afternoon ? will let you know how we get on tomorrow....
Oops Miss Marydoll?♀️ I neely forgotted the resipee!
2 kilo sliced red onions, half kilo brown sugar, half litre red wine vinegar together in large pan. Boil furiously until onions soften and reduced liquid (10 mins), stir in 4tbsp golden syrup, then pot and label! DH has added ‘Don’t give away’!
So sorry GrannySomerset, it is a cruel disease and you did all you possibly could.
Grey and cold here but back no longer making me ouch every few minutes so progress of a sort. Visit to DH not a success yesterday - he has gone downhill so fast and so much and is now not speaking to anyone, not just me, and unable to feed himself. Doctor will see him today to ensure that there is nothing going on other than Parkinson’s and that he is expressing himself in the only way left to him. I feel dreadful but know I had no option. Just wish I had the energy to tackle the admin pile which grows daily.
Good Morning all from crisp but bright Harrogate
Lovely to see you back LauraNorderr
Today i decided I would be up with the larks to get a Xmas slot with Sainsburies. My body had other ideas, so I woke at 4 am bright and bushy tailed, decided to try for a slot, to find they are only doing 20th December today, which is just a tad early. Took a few hours to get back to sleep, but will no doubt be feeling a bit tired during the day. Will try again on Thursday morning to get a slot.
I also have enjoyed a Jack Reacher book (can't remember the title). Normally I read John Grisham or Harlan Coben.
I have an appointment a for an Xray this pm, also our wee man is coming to fit in the new integral fridge. He's actually about 6ft 5, so I shouldn't describe him as a wee man!!
It will be nice to have a sensibly designed fridge
You have to make your DH think getting the pot stand was all his idea Marydoll then he will take responsibility for assembling it?
Have a great day folks, hugs for those who need them!
Good morning from chilly Glasgow where the sun has been attempting to break through but without much success.
Whatever bug I have seems to be clearing, however the persistent cough is still present and interrupting my sleep. Yet more honey and lemon drinks on the menu.
What beautiful knitting AuntiFlo especially your jumper but baby clothes are so sweet.
Hope you are doing ok GrannySomerset
We had a lovely long catch up via FaceTime with DD2 and SiL in Australia. Thank goodness for social media nowadays meaning we can stay in touch with the click of a button/key. I am longing for a cuddle and can’t wait until they are allowed to travel to the UK it can’t come soon enough for all of us.
Have a pleasant day and take care.
Happy Bithday to your DH Baubles ??
What lovely and clever knitting Auntiflo an area I have no skill in.
We love a Jack Reacher Pantglas I’ve just finished a Baldacci, the next one isn’t out yet ?.
Good luck Mick and all. Another chilly day, but no frost as the sky is overcast. Still some blue patches visible and the sun is peeking through at the moment. Today we are planning a little more garden work, then Mr. B will be sorting and cutting some old pallets for bird box construction. This is rather noisy and messy so I will hide indoors. I’m starting the Diabetes Prevention Program next Monday and they have sent me some info on what to expect so I shall look through that.
I’m glad your son and DiL are sorted Scentia . Pleased you’re feeling better Urmstongran but sorry you now have the lurgy Marydoll.
Have a peaceful Tuesday all and watch out for those ???
Did you ever manage to find EVs number Urms?
Whoever mentioned missing posters you’re absolutely right. Looking back through the good morning threads many good kind regular posters seem to have disappeared in August, so quite a while ago. Such a shame.
Good morning from w/York's I have got my operation date so I won't be seeing family over Xmas ?but it is what it is .Take care ?
Good morning from Sefton where it is quite mild. Yesterday was bitterly cold.
No Tai Chi for me today: instead I’ll be recumbent on my dentist’s chair catching up with her news and laughing…oh, and having a check up. She’s a total breath of fresh air.
Glad Scentia’s son’s household is getting back on track.
I, too, am aware of many regular posters who are sadly missing. If you’re reading, I hope you’re in good health. To you and to those here today I send a hug, a smile and the sighting of a flamingo.
???
Oh, and Auntieflo, what beautiful knitting! You are so clever…
BlueSapphire, you will love “the Snowchild”. I read it sometime ago, then happily re-read it for my book club.
Good morning Mick, Annie, and all, from a cold and frosty bit of Berks.
Using my Ipad this morning, is like wading through treacle, sooo slow.
DH is off to Prayer group this morning, and I will go with him into town to return a purchase that was a bad buy. The trousers would fit a very tall elephant and the top would make me look like a deconstructed sand castle.
I have finished the cardigan for our GGD, just the buttons to sew on now. I had yarn left over from a jumper I made for myself. Then I had a request to crochet another Minion.
Pantglas2, do let us know how you get on with the new Jack Reacher book. I didn't like the last one I read, found it a bit too cruel.
Sending love and hugs to all those that are unwell and feeling down.
Have a good day one and all.
Good morning everyone from a bright and chilly Northampton (2°C today).
Remembered when I got back from yoga yesterday that I needed to cook the Christmas ham requested by DD. It was too big for the pressure cooker, so found a Mary Berry recipe for long slow cooking in the oven in orange juice. So, three hours later it was done. Had to be cooled in the cooking liquid, then popped it in the fridge to chill. Then triple wrapped and into the freezer. And that's all my Christmas cooking done! Only got the cake to ice now.
Sat for about four hours after lunch and finished my book club read, very saddened by the ending. Have just downloaded next month's, The Snowchild. Then my new Saints rugby shirt arrived and I very excitedly pored over it looking for my name. The club have had season ticket holders' names printed into the fabric as a thank you for sticking with the club during the pandemic. Found mine in yellow on the left sleeve!
A morning of pottering, then a health walk after lunch.
Take care and stay safe everyone.
Good morning Auntyflo and all x
Pleased to hear that your son is going home Scentia, you must be relieved.
Good morning Mick, morning all from cloudy and damp South Lanarkshire.
Yesterday was such a gloriously sunny, frosty day, everything sparkled as I walked down to the dentist. The fact that I was a week early for my appointment didn’t detract from my good mood which can be a little weather dependant. Gloomy weather pulls me down.
DH’s birthday today so we’ll go out for lunch somewhere local so we can walk there and back. DD had organised a cake yesterday, it was a joy to see DH’s happiness as he sat with her four children gathered around him, all excitedly wishing him a happy birthday.
Wishing everyone a peaceful day. ?
Good morning from a dry NE where the sky is bright.
Financial advisor is visiting this morning, I do hope he can explain everything to me in a language I understand.
Long phone call with my sister in Germany yesterday, she is not in a good place. She has terrible sciatica and lives in a block of flats without a lift, her very kind taxi driver carried her shopping upstairs for her yesterday. My DD supported her last year when her DH died but DD is now here with me.
Hoping all the poorly people are improving
Good morning all. Polmont has a mixture of blue skies and clouds and is quite chilly at 3°. Scentia I'm glad your son seems to have sorted out his difficulty. Gingster that's a pity about your lunch being cancelled. I have never eaten at Nandos so I don't know what it's like.
Yesterday was a lovely day. I picked up dgs from playgroup and we had fun in the house. He had a bowl of leek and potato soup for lunch or as he calls it, "grandma's soup." When I took him home, I had another cuddle with the littlest. The midwife had been and all is well. At home I had an unexpected nap which meant I didn't sleep well last night.
Today I have nothing planned. I will visit the fish man as I fancy making fish cakes for tea. I might go to the pharmacy to pick up a prescription. A quiet day ahead. Have a good day all.
