harri I can appreciate you will be feeling far too raw to even think about writing Christmas cards. I wouldn’t this year. Everyone will understand why.

Good morning from a brightening Cornwall. Yesterday was a beautiful sunny day and we made the most of it walking in various coastal spots. Its our last day here and we'll be pootling and packing. Rain in the forecast for later.
Love to all ?x

harrigran Wed 24-Nov-21 08:22:06

Good morning from a dry NE.
Successful morning with the financial advisor yesterday, paperwork to go through as he was DH's advisor and now I need to employ him.
Hairdresser will be here in an hour, last hair cut before Christmas.
Not sure about cards this year, very painful for me write.
Thinking of Iris today.

Scentia Wed 24-Nov-21 08:08:11

Urms. I gave him the option of calling them to arrange a return and a new mattress fitting and all too quickly it became no problem at all to be a bit bouncy!!!

AGAA4 Wed 24-Nov-21 08:00:23

Good morning everyone from North Wales. Cold and dry here.
Two year old GS has his swimming class today. He loves it but has missed some sessions due to nursery bugs.
Back to my warm coat now as winter has set in now.
Have a good Wednesday all GNs.

Good morning from a dark Leicestershire. I really hate these dark nights and dark mornings.

Coffee with friends this morning, then an Ocado delivery. I have been very worried about my friend as she has been having lots of tests. Even going private she had to wait 2 weeks for a scan. It turns out it is just gall stones but as she is 80 the consultant is reluctant to take it out.

I hope Iris’s op goes well GrandMattie.
Hope everyone has the best day they can.

monk08 Wed 24-Nov-21 07:52:15

Good morning all from the Black country.
Just passing through, will catch everyone's news later. Overslept this morning and have mums and toddlers and need to put lamb tagine in the slow cooker before I leave.
Have the best day you can and may you all find some ?

BlueSapphire Wed 24-Nov-21 07:52:07

Good morning everyone from a grey but dry Northampton. Have a load of washing in the machine but don't think I will be hanging it out.

Sainsbury's delivery in a couple of hours and then book club after lunch; our last meeting before Christmas, and I seem to remember being promised mince pies....

Apart from that nothing else planned for today.

Good wishes to Iris for her operation today, and to all facing worries and cares.

Marydoll Wed 24-Nov-21 07:49:41

Good morning Mick and all, chilly here in Glasgow.

GM, I hope all goes well for Iris today, it's been a long journey.

The father of the groom is off for his kilt fitting today, I cannot trust him to go on his own, so I shall accompany him. DS2 will never forgive me, if DH gets it wrong!
Normally, I would squeeze in a bit of retail therapy, but our town has become a ghost town, since the local department store shut down. Anyway, I'm very uncomfortable, out and about at the moment.
I have insisted on driving, because the parking spaces are tight for DH's car and we end up going round in circles looking for a suitable space. It usual ends in a few choice words. I however, have my secret parking places, right in the town centre, which saves the pressure my painful hip and foot!
Fortunately, I have left out my running shoes, as he always behaves as if, he is in a sprint.

All moaning aside, my beloved spouse has surpassed himself and more than made up for his recent misdemeanours. I won't mention the spilled coffee grains over the boiled rice
I had been footering about upstairs and came down to find a fully built garden pot stand in the living room. I will gloss over the trail of destruction.
I hadn't got round to asking him to build it, but had devised a cunning plan. When it had been delivered, I left it in our porch, because I couldn't lift it. Leaving it across the front door, meant his lordship couldn't fail to miss it and had to lift it out of the way, in order to get out.
# wily gran!

The best is yet to come. DH had overheard DD and I discussing the merits the new multi function Ninja. My daughter has an earlier version, but was raving about the new one. She thought it would be a good idea for me, since I love to cook, but some days, I'm just not well enough. I felt I couldn't justify the cost, a considered purchase, as they say on QVC and said I would need to think about it.
At 5.30pm, the doorbell rang and on the top step was a huge box, which I couldn't lift.
This is is what was inside! He is indeed a kind and generous man. ?

Wishing you a pleasant day and those with worries find the strength to cope with their burden.

Good morning all. It's only just getting light in Polmont. It's milder this morning at 7° but there's a light rain falling. Grandmattie Iris is just amazing. What a trooper. Ashcombe I hope your health issues are resolved quickly. Well done to all the clever grandchildren!
Yesterday I cleaned all the windows and mirrors in the house. Then hoovered and washed all the floors. It was quite therapeutic knowing it was done. I received a surprise package in the morning. An American author, Patricia Cornwell, who I follow on Twitter, sent me a goodie bag of a bag, official cap which means I can do autopsies ?, and her latest book which she had signed with a nice message. We have conversed back and forth so she knew my address. Wasn't that lovely?
Today I have to go to the pharmacy and visit mum. Then it's off to Stirling to my art class. Later on I'll do a bit of knitting. Not for the new arrival! His great gran on his dad's side does that admirably. I'm using up odds and ends of wool to knit a throw for my bed. Whatever you are up to, I hope you have a good day

Good morning from a dry east York’s where it is 5 degrees today.

Yesterday I ended up going in to the city centre for a short while. DH had to go in for work purposes and asked if I wanted to join him for a coffee. I had a little browse after and bought a couple of Christmas gifts.

DS sent me a delightful video clip of baby. Her face has straightened out if you know what I mean and she was alert and having a good look around.

I haven't any plans for today apart from a few calls to make. I might write my Christmas cards. It’s one of the chores I’m not too fond of regarding festive activities. I am also debating whether to make a Christmas cake or not. I saw a last minute version the other day that looked tasty.

Hoping all goes well for Iris grandmattie
Take care everyone.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s just getting light. It’s dry, seems cold and I can see the Pennines. Slept solidly again last night. Not sure whether it’s because of the virus or because I’m not drinking - anyway such glorious deep sleeps are wonderful. I don’t even get up in the night once. Unheard of.

That said it’s time to put on the new duvet I bought for winter. Even though I sleep in long sleeved pj’s with legs, it’s definitely time to ditch the summer one now. By the way Scentia hows the new mattress? Has your husband got used to it being so bouncy yet?
?

I finished writing all my Christmas cards and they have stamps on, ready to go - too early yet ha! Also I have cards to post to Spain & Australia so for once I won’t be on the last minute. You really made me laugh when you drily said last night “Every cloud, Urms.

Regarding my name on GN I much prefer, when it is being shortened, when Urms is used. Mostly on the politics threads, some posters do refer to me as UG and though that it technically correct I think it’s a subtle put-down (clever really!) as it infers I am Neanderthal.

Another day for rest & relaxation. I don’t seem as wheezy this morning - a good sign. Sorry to hear you’ve health concerns Ashcombe I hope you get sorted soon. And granMattie I’m another who can’t believe Iris had her big operation a full year ago! It’s wonderful that she will be frame-free and even perhaps cast-free in time for Christmas.

Kim19 where is your nearest city? I’m not sure of your whereabouts!

Enjoy Wednesday all who can. x

Gingster Wed 24-Nov-21 07:37:11

Good morning all and it’s another chilly day here in Essex.

Yesterday I completed the stocking filler shopping, so I will continue to wrap these and tick that job off the list. I’ve finished writing the cards so I feel better having made a start for the Christmas season. ?.

Today, I have nothing planned - it’s nice to have a free day. Maybe make mince pies and sausage rolls for the freezer.

GM - best wishes to Iris. A very brave little girl.

Scentia - I hope your charity sale is well attended and you raise a good bit of money. Such a good cause ?

Ash - sorry you have health worries. Olddudders will be back before you know it. ☺️. Well done to your very talented DGd.??. Hope your DGS’s wrist isn’t too painful. ?

Have the best day you can ???

Good morning everyone from a very chilly Inverness ?
I had a lovely busy day yesterday with lots of chatter and laughter with my friend. I got home after dark and then received a message from her thanking me for a lovely afternoon Really nice of her and I felt the same too
Today another busy day as we’re doing the school pick up and then the DGC are staying over.
I’ll be thinking of Iris today grandMattie what a brave little girl and I hope all goes well ?

Beechnut Wed 24-Nov-21 07:32:19

Good Morning everyone from Severnside.
Belated birthday greetings to Mrbaubles. After posting first thing yesterday my iPad was misbehaving, the thingy just kept going round and round.

I’m off to look at furniture today. I don’t want to go but I must after putting the chore off for too long.

Good luck to Iris for her operation today. I know she won’t be far from your thoughts Mattie while you craft.

I’m glad you’ve gone back to Laura LauraNorderr. I’m very fond of Orlins name and missed it. Prack wasn’t the same.

Have a good day all ???

cornergran Wed 24-Nov-21 07:22:09

Morning Mick, morning All from a dark corner of Somerset. Think it’s dry out there, all I can say.

A bit bleary eyed this morning after a local theatre visit with some of the family. Grocery delivery first thing, finish the dust removal and on with some admin. It will all keep me out of mischief today.

Good wishes to iris, she’s a trooper grandmattie, I’m sure she will adjust quickly. Look after yourselves everyone. Hope Wednesday is gentle with us all.

kittylester Wed 24-Nov-21 07:18:17

Good morning all from a still dark North Leicestershire. I don't think bit's raining or windy.

We are out for lunch in your neck of the woods scentia - well in Staffordshire. We are meeting old friends from DH's University days for the first time in 2 years. There will be lots of chat and laughter.

Then we have a Sainsbury's delivery!

Best wishes to Iris today.

Pantglas2 Wed 24-Nov-21 07:10:06

Morning Mick and earlybirds from a cool and dry north Wales where I’m enjoying the chamberpot ☕️ and writing my shopping list.

DH will be a nuisance assist me around Asda and words will be had at checkout when he throws stuff in willynilly and wonders why his sandwiches are mis-shapen...?

Lovely news that Iris is progressing - what a brave lass you have there GrandMattie ?

Will hope to finish with Jack this afternoon and won’t spoil the ending for other aficionados but I’m not enjoying this one as much as t’others- is it because Lee Child has handed over the reins to brother Andrew?

A good day for all even if the weather isn’t obliging....x

Jaxjacky Wed 24-Nov-21 07:09:19

Good morning all from a cold, frosty S Hants.
Best of luck to Iris grandMattie I too am amazed that it’s a year.
Good to see you back Ashcombe sorry to hear about your health issues, may they swiftly be resolved.
Scentia go get ‘em!
It’s my phones voluntary day today and I have some calls to make myself as well as getting out for a walk.
Enjoy your day if you can, hope the poorly are improving ??

GrannyGravy13 Wed 24-Nov-21 07:06:36

Morning all

It’s still dark here in S E Essex. Off to the gym later, my cleaning fairies are here this morning.

Thinking of Iris this last year has flown by grandMattie she is a very brave girl.

Keep safe and well folks ?‍♀️?

Ashcombe Wed 24-Nov-21 06:39:21

Good morning, one and all, from a fine and calm Torbay.

A big day for Iris and I will be keeping her in my prayers. I can hardly believe a year has gone by since the frame was fitted and you were busily altering clothes for her, grandmattie!

Thank you for the kind expressions of concern over my absence. Health issues necessitate me staying here when DH returns to France next week. After the initial disappointment I’m resigned to a couple of weeks apart and will be pleased to welcome him back in mid December.

Last weekend we enjoyed a lovely weekend in Crewe although our journey had to be delayed whilst we awaited the outcome of a PCR test for my DGD, which was negative, thankfully. My DD2 hosted a celebration of my DS being 40 last week. On Sunday my DGD won gold and bronze medals for her modern and ballet dances. Her 11 year old brother has a buckle fracture to his wrist (football!) but we enjoyed hearing him talk positively about his first few months at high school.

Happy hump day, everyone! ?????

Scentia Wed 24-Nov-21 06:30:20

Good Morning all from East Staffordshire where it feels cold ?
A full day of work today and this evening should have been a parish council meeting but the clerk has tested positive so it has been cancelled until next month. I should have been ‘sworn in’ but will have to wait for a month.
My campaign has gone a bit quiet over the last week as I have had my DGC 4 days but I am back with a vengeance today and will be on the phone to all concerned to get them moving.
I have my charity sale on Friday evening in aid of Staffordshire Women’s Aid and have a house full of donations so I do hope people turn up as I will have to take all of this stuff to Stafford to donate in person!
My DD MiL is making me a batch of mince pies for the visitors. ???
Hope it is all good news for Iris GM and she copes well with the changes. She seems to be made of stern stuff from what I read about her I am sure she will be fine❤️
Take care everyone and keep warm and smiling ?

Kim19 Wed 24-Nov-21 06:19:24

Morning Michael and all who follow! Hope you all find your daily peak. I've a lunch with four friends planned for today. Interesting and fun bunch. We met on a further education class (politics) many years ago and simply jelled. Lovely. I'll drive halfway into the big city and then use public transport. My compromise with covid. Weather seems cool but calm and that's fine by me for the end of November. Could have been much worse.
