? for everyone
Good afternoon from me, I have had my hair chopped, visited a friend whose DH is receiving palliative care and cobbled together a lunch while waiting for Tesco’s to deliver.
It’s blooming cold outside and I want to hibernate....

Good morning all, I managed to get up early today as I needed to go and have my blood pressure taken. Freezing cold here in N Somerset but dry so I can’t complain. We have been away to Barnstaple for a few days cycling and I was dismayed to see just how few people wore masks. One woman in a restaurant made a remark to me about mask wearing and was also an anti Vader. My reply was so when you are in hospital, extremely ill with covid and wishing you had been jabbed, you will tell the medical staff who are treating you that they are stupid and masks do t work. Ended up telling her to leave off the drink. Anyway didn’t do my blood pressure any harm as the nurse told me I had a reading she could only dream of.
Out into the garden now to put up two new hazel fences. Have a lovely day everyone and keep safe. Glad to hear you are recovering from your bout of illness Urg and that you sleeping better.

Kalu Wed 24-Nov-21 11:45:41

Good luck with your blood results today Gwen ?

Don’t give away your fair isle secret Auntiflo? I was so impressed with your knitting skills and how patient you must be to knit fair isle. Doesn’t take away the fact your work looks so good though.

Good morning from a dampish day in Glasgow, chilly too.

All best wishes to Iris today. Such a big day for her.

Your DH is surpassing himself Marydoll Constructing your plant holder and a surprise gift. Have you decided yet if he is a keeper? ?

I am a huge fan of Patricia Cornwall Grandmabatty I too feel qualified to perform an autopsy having read all her books and now, GD1 is enjoying them. How thoughtful of her to send you a gift of a goody bag and signed copy of her latest book which I will have a look for.

Feeling a bit more back in the land of the living as this bug is noticeably clearing off. Phone call later from the practice nurse as my BP was shockingly high recently, Ramipril has lowered it but I am still being monitored and will report my daily readings when she calls.

DH is out doing a Waitrose shop so I have an empty for a while to footer and faff.

Have the best day possible all and hoping all with struggles and worries have a better day.

Gwenisgreat1 Wed 24-Nov-21 11:07:32

Thank you for your god wishes!

Auntieflo Wed 24-Nov-21 10:34:22

Good morning Mick, Annie and all. I woke late this morning and it has been a slow start.
Sending best wishes to brave Iris, today for her operation. It brings back memories if when our DD had an operation when she was 7. She was in plaster from her waist to her tip toes, with a bar between , so she looked like a big A frame, and used to scoot around on a sort of skate board.
What a lovely surprise from Patricia Cornwell,Grandmabatty
I haven't read her books for a long time.
I see the brown garden waste bags have been collected, and I didn't hear the lorry coming. They are so much quieter that the bin men.
Last night I put the Christmas Cake fruit to soak, so will make the cake later on. It does smell good.
Thank you for all the kind comments on my knitting yesterday. It was the clever random yarn that makes the sort of Fairisle pattern, not me!.
Nothing exciting going on today.
Have a good day one and all.

LauraNorderr Wed 24-Nov-21 10:32:24

Yes good luck with bloods Gwen and hope you post some of your artwork.

Urmstongran Wed 24-Nov-21 10:28:40

Good luck with your blood results GwenIsGreat.

LauraNorderr Wed 24-Nov-21 10:26:08

Good morning all you lovely people, I’m looking up at a half moon in a blue sky and a mix of grey and white fluffy clouds. No idea what it means weather wise but is very pretty.
Thanks Beech, Ekwa and stillearnimg. I’m more comfortable with it too. Prack sounds a bit harsh for a man who brought me pain au chocolat in bed this morning.
Speaking of Orlin, he has treated himself to an exercise bike and is cycling behind me. Just as well it isn’t moving or he’d be in Lands End by now. At least the locals would be comfortable with the double rr.
Wishing Iris all the luck in the world grandMattie if anyone can find a random pink flamingo we know it’s Iris. Brave little trooper that she is.
Good wishes to you all whether in sick bay, suffering aches and pains, with worries, just feeling low or getting used to a bouncy bed.
Have a good day ???

Gwenisgreat1 Wed 24-Nov-21 10:14:25

Good Morning all from bright (at the moment) Harrogate
Optimistically I have put a wash on which I hope to partially dry outside.
Your Iris is so brave GrandMattie, she will probably love her 'new' leg when it is set free. Hugs from me.
Wow! Marydoll your DH is a treasure.
I have a GP phoning later this am to let me know the results of all my blood tests last week. This pm I shall have to get my pictures ready for our art club exhibition this weekend, always exciting.
Have the best day you can, folks!

Good morning Mick and all. It’s very cold and cloudy here in Lancashire. Mr.B is just back from the supermarket shop. I was up and dressed early this morning as I had a delivery due, and it arrived bang on time. I must go help him put the shopping away, so will pop back and read the rest of the posts later. Hoping all goes well for Iris today Grandmattie and that there will be plenty of ??? coming her wat.

Anniebach Wed 24-Nov-21 09:30:42

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Good morning from a wet South Ayrshire, I am just about to leave for my exercise group followed by my first Christmas lunch. It's going to be a bit of a rush, coming home, showered and dressed in other than leggings and T shirt. Then if I have the inclination, later in the afternoon, I will make a few more Christmas Cards.

EkwaNimitee Wed 24-Nov-21 09:17:22

Good morning Mick and everyone from dark Carlisle where it has just started raining. No gardening today I think.
Today I will do the ironing and then it's a bit of admin plus I ought to write the Christmas cards for the Australian contingent. It is still looking good for DS2 coming over for Christmas and us meeting up with DS1 and family in Surrey. Fingers still crossed though. This morning I see that the New Zealanders are opening up. My holiday there has been cancelled 2 years in succession so I might now dig the relevant brochure out and re-book. I'm not getting any younger and maybe one day soon I won't want/be able to make a long haul flight.

I wondered how you were Ashcombe, I hope you are soon sorted.
I thought PollyTickle was a witty handle LauraNorderr but not quite as good as your previous. Can't manage rolling my rrr's at the end of the new version though!

Thoughts with all of you with difficulties, I hope you have the best possible day.

Stilllearning Wed 24-Nov-21 09:03:20

Morning from S Lanarkshire where it’s been raining but still now.

Hope things go well for Iris grandMattie, like others I was stunned to realise it is a year since we were all so concerned about her operation, I’m sure she’ll cope with this bit too.

I was relieved this morning to receive a text from my DBiL who had a minor heart attack a few days ago. He is in Inverclyde Hospital where he says the care has been excellent. Today he’s being taken up to the Golden Jubilee, a private hospital used by the NHS when necessary, for an angiogram and hopefully will be sorted and home by the end of the week.
We all feel very thankful.

I am going to a memorial mass today for a friend’s elder sister who died a just over a year ago, during lockdown. She had a very interesting life as a nurse working in Africa for many years until she had to be evacuated during the Biafran emergency. She never talked about what happened but took a long time to recover and during her latter years when she had Alzheimer’s she often got agitated about ‘saving the children’ and had to be reassured that they were all safe. God only knows what actually happened both to her and to them.

You must be disappointed Ashcombe but good that you DH will be back for Christmas and we’ll done to your talented granddaughter.

I prefer LauraNorder too!

Good wishes to everyone ???

Grandmabatty Wed 24-Nov-21 09:00:37

Nannagarra ???

Nannagarra Wed 24-Nov-21 08:56:53

Good morning from the Sefton coast.
Sending lots of hugs to brave Iris and belated birthday wishes to your DH baubles. Hoping for a swift departure from sick bay for Ashcombe, Urms and others. How delightful to receive a surprise parcel Grandmabatty. Patricia Cornwell must hold you in very high regard to have made the gesture and to have been so generous. Please ignore Joe Cocker singing, “You Can Leave Your Hat On” ? ?
I find I’ve double booked myself for this afternoon. Fingers crossed that a phone call at 9am will extricate me from this pickle and limit the number of people who discover my mistake! ?
Thinking of you all. ??????

Greyduster Wed 24-Nov-21 08:55:58

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. It’s dry in South Yorkshire this morning, but that is about all you can say about it. We are planning a walk later and a bit of sun would be nice! The gas fitter came yesterday to clean and service our gas fire (did you hear me cheering?) and it was lovely to have it on last night. I must speak to DD this afternoon about GS’s Christmas presents, to make sure we are singing off the same hymn sheet. Hope everyone has a good day.

aggie Wed 24-Nov-21 08:55:46

Good morning, dull cold and still here , we are forecast gales .
I have a crochet project to finish , but sitting too long I stiffen up !
Iris has a lot in front of her , but she will cope with her indomitable spirit , positive thoughts for her

Forsythia Wed 24-Nov-21 08:52:52

Good morning all from south London where we have a cold dry day with frost on the cars and rooftops. A day to wrap up warm. A Lidl shop for us at our new store nearby, a gentle walk and some decluttering is what is in store for us here today. Hope everyone has a good day where they can and thoughts with those who are going through it at the moment.

Good morning from blazing sunshinesunshinehere on the east coast of Fife.it’s probably freezing cold outside but I’m nice and cosy here under the warm duvet. Soon be time to get up the cleaning lady comes in this morning. Methinks she’ll have her work cut out today, she’s having to limit her time as she’s got a full time job elsewhere a very hard working young polish lady, I like her a lot. Exciting news my dh will be home today after a short spell in hospital ?????

dragonfly46 Wed 24-Nov-21 08:42:50

Wow that is a great present Marydoll I love mine!
