Nu and Xi were rejected as names, nu because it sounds like new, and Xi because it is the Chinese leaders name

Life of Pi next.

Although they don't seem to be in any alphabetical order - or are there more than I knew about?

I'm just slightly mind blown that there must have been Epsilon, Zeta, Eta, Theta, Iota, Kappa, Lambda, Mu, Nu and Xi, and we haven't heard about them.....

WHO do the naming, I presume there’s been several other variants between delta and omicron.

Wasn't it decided last year? It was better than calling the variants Kent/ UK Varient, South American Variant etc. - a bit Name & Shame.
The Greek Alphabet is fairly international - a good choice I feel, - until we get to Omega ?

They're all letters of the Greek alphabet so I suppose that's the plan. Omicron doesn't strike me as a very good choice (what will headline writers make of it?).

Just wondering how these variants get their names...

So now we have a variant called Omicron which I believe is classical Greek..
