Sleepless at around 3.30 this morning, I came down and scoffed most of a packet of clotted cream fudge that was supposed to be for dh’s stocking.
There are 4 pieces left.
I can’t see those lasting very long, either.

Join the club! Skydancer I have always thought there is something slightly worrying about someone who eats 1 square from a slab of chocolate.

Gosh yes! I am always mystified when I see the instructions on a bar of chocolate telling me how to seal it and keep it......why would I want to do that? I ate a chunk of fruit cake at 5am when I got up for a glass of water blush. In my dubious and pathetic defence, it was sitting out on the island, I didn't open the cake tin

Wish I’d never opened this thread. My thoughts are now on the landing hatch, please distract me.
I do love your logic TeacherAnne. Works for me.

I can’t resist glacé cherries, have never used them in cake making as there are never any left.

Oh god, me too!

Calistemon Fri 03-Dec-21 14:59:45

Brazil nuts are very good for you grin

Calistemon Fri 03-Dec-21 14:59:19

That's why I haven't bought any chocolate, fudge, shortcake, made any mince pies yet!!

Chocolate brazils - my MIL used to leave a box of them on my pillow when she'd been to stay. No-one else buys them for me sad

I love this thread, good one Witzend. Chocolate sultanas do it for me. I buy a stonking great container of them and munch through them in a couple of days. Still, it is better than boozing, isn’t it ?

I'm another chocolate raisin (maybe sultantas?) fan. I find Iceland do the best ones.

I now have an advert ‘find your vice’ ???

For some reason my appetite for chocolate has waned, I used to eat a lot every night but gave it up over 24 hours. I don't like milk choc anyway so Quality St etc can sit there forever. My husband can wade through it at a rate of knots though.
I do sometimes have 2 fingers of dark choc KitKat. No idea why I suddenly went off chocolate.

Mamma66 Fri 03-Dec-21 12:20:06

Fudge = devil food, yuk.

Chocolate on the other hand…

Christmas goodies have to be hidden from Mr.B, especially cheesy biscuits and gin! I’m afraid I am another weirdo who can eat 1 square of chocolate a day, but as I’m now on the Diabetes Prevention Program I am avoiding all sources of sugar. I will allow myself a few treats on Christmas and Boxing Day though.

Teacheranne Fri 03-Dec-21 12:12:32

I work on the basis that, rather than have a small piece of cake every day for a week, it is just the same number of calories if you eat it all in one go!

LauraNorderr Fri 03-Dec-21 12:11:37

Me too. Definitely a founder member of this club.
Have so far eaten a full tin of roses, one of quality street and a tin of celebrations. The replacements are now in a locked upstairs wardrobe and the key has been placed on the edge of the loft hatch. Extreme I know, can’t stop thinking about them.

The other day I saw a White Forest Meringue dessert, to serve about 6, in the Co-op freezer and decided to buy it for Christmas, when I shall be alone for the day. Well, it never made it to my freezer and I ate it gradually over the same day! I shall therefore go without a dessert on the big day as I daren't buy another.

That’s me Sarnia! But then I do have a reputation for being weird!

I used to have to put the children's Easter Eggs in the freezer when they were young. I couldn't keep blaming the Easter Bunny!! blush

allsortsofbags Fri 03-Dec-21 11:15:14

Oh I feel better knowing it's not just me that is afflicted by the lure of extra goodies in the house :-)

A couple of nights ago I started on the big tube of Smarties I'd put aside for DGD stocking, I finished them off last night.

Oh well I will be shopping again before the 25th.

I'm blaming the very cold weather but really I know it's just my lack of will power.

Peasblossom Fri 03-Dec-21 10:56:16

Daughter-in-law brings the Christmas fudge on Christmas Day.

She’s says the first batch was quite good but she’s workng on improving ?

Peasblossom Fri 03-Dec-21 10:54:29

The special Winter selection from Aldi disappeared last night. There’s one sad Orange Cream left in the box.

(The first one was a bit disappointing)

Lincslass Fri 03-Dec-21 10:53:02

Nice to know we all do it. Have done this in the past, so far this year, I have not succumbed, yet !!!

OnwardandUpward Fri 03-Dec-21 10:51:57

I bought some fudge for a present and have eaten it all as well! LOL

Next time I buy it, I must wrap it straightaway! grin

Skydancer Fri 03-Dec-21 10:51:23

DH came home with some chocs on special offer. I've eaten most of them already though I didn't even want them. Then I scoffed 2 rock cakes and felt sick. This morning, full of resolve, I'm a new woman...... no more chocolate, no more cakes, no more alcohol. This new me will possibly last till teatime at the latest. It's just hopeless. I had a friend who used to keep chocolate in her fridge and eat one square a day. How can anyone do that!

Witzend Fri 03-Dec-21 10:46:22

Glad it’s not just me!
Just as well nearly all the goodies for other people are safely wrapped now. Safe because however piggy I might be feeling, I really can’t face wrapping that lot up again.

OTOH there’s still an unwrapped box of M&S chocolate Brazils in the bag of things for dh’s stocking….
