Smoking weed

Tried it for the first time a few weeks ago - probably old enough to know better by now, but the opportunity presented itself and I’d always been curious. Didn’t like it. I discovered it made me feel paranoid for a while after the high. So I’ve done it now and curiosity is satisfied.

At university, yes, a bit. Not for over 50 years. Quite fun.

My mum had MS and in her 70s she took it to help her. She said it helped.

Just couldn't get past the disgusting, lingering smell of weed or cigarettes.

It was something that my first husband was into as a teenager. For him it became something he had to do every day and also progressed to cocaine and LSD. For me it was something I tried in our last few years together to try to please him and save our relationship. That didn't work but I did enjoy it, smoking it and making hash cakes. After we split I would acquire a bit from time to time but my second husband doesn't approve and I don't think I could cope with it now just as I can't drink as much alcohol as I could at one time. I still like the smell though. We have some young neighbours who the smoke wafts over from in the summer and whenever we go to concerts or large gatherings I can always smell it. It brings back memories, some good and some bad.

I love the smell of pure weed. In Spain, some people grow it on their balconies, for personal use! In the UK, whilst dog walking, it's amazing the number of houses I walk past, and smell wafts of it coming out of windows etc. It's everywhere, it's not just young people. It's very helpful for aches and pains, muscular issues etc. I have it in cakes and stews etc, but I wouldn't want to smoke it. And huge huge difference between the real green plant, and a lump of brown chemical.

No I never have,but I would now if I knew where to get some just to ease my pain

Back in the day most people I knew did, tried it a few times and was sick to my stomach. Decided vodka and tonic and twenty B&H were my drugs of choice. (Spent a lot of time with people drooling and laughing at nothing though!) When I was diagnosed with chronic and painful disease friends suggested I should take the edge off with it, but my more streetwise kids pointed out that today's skunk isn't the old time grass and would probably give me worse problems, so haven 't. So these days I would pass even the strictest tox screening with flying colours.

Lesley60. You don’t need to smoke it for pain relief. I’m hearing lots of good reports about cannabis oil from people I know that take it for pain relief.

Yes,as a teenager a number of us had a few sessions and some found it agreeable, just made me feel sick and disoriented. One person's personality changed and later committed murder, and more recently a younger family member who had quite bad habit has been badly affected by it and is now almost incapable of living a normal life.

No, I made a vow when I was younger that I would never, ever take any kind of illegal drug and I have stuck to it. I might give it a try if they legalise it and I am in great pain. However, given my body's response to any drug (I get every side effect known to man), I can't imagine it would be a happy experience. I can't even drink a small amount of alcohol without suffering!
I have used CBD oil but haven't found it particularly helpful although my grandson started talking within days of taking it and when he is particularly anxious, he still is given a small amount for a couple of days until he settles again...the health professionals are aware btw.

No have never had it; it never appealed to me. Always had/have a fear of the unknown, I suppose ! I was always quite happy with a glass or three of wine, when I drank (can’t now due to health problems). When I was at uni I wasn’t really aware of it being a big thing-maybe just the people I mixed with who seemed to be in the Students Union bar all the time! . Stuff you can get now really is a lot stronger, although the milder weed is still out there I believe. Many smoke it for ‘medicinal purposes’. This really may be true as I know of a 24 year old man, sadly dying of cancer, who found it his only relief in his final days when even the strong painkillers he was given no longer cut it.

Yes I have tried it 3 or 4 times many years ago. Doesn't agree with me as I hallucinate and feel dizzy and really ill. One friend tried it and she vomited and wet herself. I hate the smell too.
I know quite a few people who smoke it occasionally and it just relaxes them but it's not for me.

Yes a few times in the early 70s. Had a few evenings listening to Pink Floyd and drifting away. It’s ok but makes you feel sick at first and then zones you out for hours. Soon gave it up as well as smoking, if you don’t generally smoke it’s even worse as you have the tobacco to contend with. I hate the loss of control so I don’t drink alcohol now either and haven’t for years.

Getting wed late teens, I missed out in this era. But not sorry at all.

I tried it in the 80's. Didnt like smoking it as it made me cough and I hated the smell so I had a small nibble. That spell didnt last long as I became pregnant. I still dislike the smell. Would not dream of it now, I work with too many clients who are on it and it can induce paranoia in those that are susceptible, although I can appreciate that some people choose to take it to alleviate some symptoms and it makes you relax.
My two boys have both tried it - I set them up chairs in the shed and that didnt last long either. I expect they have tried it in their uni days but luckily have had no long lasting effects.

I have very mixed feelings about it and they have changed over the years.
I tried it once and hated the way it made me feel but I also dont drink cos I like my head to feel normal.
One of my sons smokes it occasionally as it works better for pain than his prescribed meds.
Now where my feelings changed. Just over 20 years ago I met a man who had smoked daily since he was 16 and was now 35.
At this time he was a very clever and interesting person.
Now 22 years later he is a wreck, cannot function without a smoke, often waking in the night for a smoke. He is completely paranoid about everything, cant remember what hes talking about from one sentance to the next but will also talk, repeating himself about nonsense.
He has been medically checked and it has been confirmed that it is the weed that has caused all his problems.

Nope. It stinks. It's destroying young peoples lives and anyone who thinks otherwise wants to do my job.

Yes I have in the earlier years. Just zoned me out and I got the munchies. It wasn’t for me , so I didn’t do it again.

Smoked a bit - well, more than a bit - in the seventies and early eighties. It didn't seem to have much of an effect on me and I never bought it myself; just had a puff or two on a shared joint to fit in.

I understand modern strains are much stronger and more vicious so I wouldn't wish to try them, but I might be up for retrying the stuff from my youth to see if it would help my various aches and pains. I don't smoke and haven't since 1989, so I would have to eat it instead; gluten free hash brownies?

I have I waited till I was 36 to try it. I didn't feel any different and I hate the smell

I tried a normal cigarette with my friend and her brother in their shed when I was 11 ,I had 2 puffs and felt sick and hated all the smoke...it was a good lesson for me as I have never had the desire to smoke anything after that.
