Personally i feel he should go as cannot stand to keep hearing all the stories and footage that emerged overnight!

Ian Blackford is a hypocrite who broke the rules himself last year so I cannot listen to a word he says about anything.

He does not have the decency or courage to resign! He will only go if there is a party coup as they did to Thatcher! Don’t forget , we cannot vote for a PM !

We cannot vote for a Conservative leader, that is done by their MPs and finally by party members .
We can and do vote for a Prime Minister.

We don't vote for a Prime Minister.

We vote for our local MP.

Which is why we could end up with Gove, Sunak, whoever...

A 24 year old alone on a Saturday
in foreign office fielding all desperate emails from Kabul airport. That tells us all we need to know about this lot.

I have always voted Cons but as I look around the only people I might go for are Yvette Cooper and Ed Balls. I probably wouldn't agree with all their ideas but I think they are genuine and to be trusted.

Only his word for that.

There is not one mp in any party I would like to run the country I have never felt so disappointed and let down by any government before God help us all I fear for the future of our country

I would vote for Jeremy Hunt and hope he'd kick out all the Boris yes men in the cabinet. I might consider Rishi Sunak too.
We were warned about Boris by those who knew him, and his lies and disloyalty were there to see in his personal life. No wonder we see the awful Tory behaviour that we do. Boris hasn't a leg to stand on when confronted with it. He's surrounded himself with sycophants and has already been there and done that. A Christmas present to the nation might be his resignation, but I think he'll wriggle his way out and be there for a while.

Was Boris at the alleged 'party'? Did it go on without his knowledge? I'm not certain from the coverage so far if he was there or learned about it at a later date.

Are people saying that he, personally, is in the wrong? Are they saying he was horrified to learn about it but then tried to cover over it? Or are they saying the whole of the conservative party should step down?

I'm not sure what the actual truth is in all of this.

Nobody is Susan
Probably best to see what comes out in an investigation.
Totally the wrong time anyway for the Party to choose a new leader. If needed, then sometime in Spring/ Summer would be better.

He should resign.

Minerva Thu 09-Dec-21 11:40:42

He should but he won’t.

Calistemon Thu 09-Dec-21 11:39:27

Is it just the Parliamentary party who get to vote?

Alegrias1 Thu 09-Dec-21 11:36:16

If he did resign who on earth would take his place? Can't see anyone of any Party, including all the 'Raving LooneyParties' I would vote for. They all seem tarred by the same brush, and I wouldn't trust any of them!

Unless you are a member of the Tory Party, you don't get a say in who would replace him if he resigned tomorrow.

That’s just silly.

He should. He won't. He'll throw everyone else under the bus first.

Jess20 Thu 09-Dec-21 11:26:05

Why do I keep thinking about the film of Animal Farm.....all the animals slogging away working and the pigs up there in the farmhouse breaking out the brandy.....

Riggie Thu 09-Dec-21 11:25:13

IMy MP (labour) has tweeted that he should resign.

She has previously tweeted that she doesn't feel safe in the commons as people are not wearing masks.
Yet this week she was at The MOBO Awards, and has posted pictures of herself maskless, mixing and posing for pictures with numerous groups of people and celebs.

Sigh

VANECAM Thu 09-Dec-21 11:24:33

Yes he should resign or otherwise be replaced.

leeds22 Thu 09-Dec-21 11:22:50

Wish he would resign but see little hope of that. I can't imagine who would succeed him as PM. Rishi is quite a good constituency MP and does extend his influence into the Red Wall constituency bordering Richmondshire but whether enough MPs would select him is anyone's guess - I think he may be too much of 'his own man' for some of them.

spabbygirl Thu 09-Dec-21 11:12:17

they'll see how the north Shropshire by election goes next week, all the tories are bad, they provide NHS services via private companies which have shareholders to pay so when they say they are spending more on the NHS that is why, its not for better services they are cutting services cos they want us all to go private & they can ditch the NHS to have lower taxes which is what the billionaires want
