Good Morning Friday 10th December 2021
(71 Posts)Good morning from the north west. This weekend we’ll be celebrating our ruby wedding anniversary in a favourite hotel. Whatever you’re doing, I wish you happiness and peace. ???
Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s still dark, looks mild but is damp. The train into Oxford Street Manchester is just pulling into Platform 1. The station is well lit up this time of year, quite safe.
We are going over to mind the grandchildren at tea-time whilst their parents scoot off to the Trafford Centre to do a bit of Christmas shopping. I went to Liberty’s once with a friend years ago when we spent a few days in London (tickets to see Wolf Hall and Bring up the Bodies at the Aldwych Theatre) and oh my, what a gorgeous store! I was in heaven mooching in there. Enjoy your day Sar53. That boat certainly keeps your fella occupied one way and another!
Enjoy Friday all who can. We’re having Burford Browns and crumpets later EV! Funny how we all associate you with them now! Are you loving being back?
Here’s Matt. x
Good morning Mick, morning all from dark South Lanarkshire, I think it’s damp and drizzly but it’s hard to tell.
Your day worked out well Mick, isn’t it pleasing when things go to plan.
I’m delighted for you Mattie, to have your son home will be such a comfort and I bet Iris enjoyed that bath.
So lovely to hear about people’s to-ing and fro-ing, lots of fun being had.
Usual Friday for me in the charity shop, I do enjoy all the mini chats with people throughout the day, we are usually super busy.
I’ve no idea what we’re eating this evening as that’s down to DH so it may very well be fish and chips.
Wishing everyone a peaceful day. Happy Friday ??
Good morning all and it’s very dark and windy here in Essex.
Little gd stayed overnight and slept with me in our big bed. I’d forgotten how little children wriggle and lay diagonally acrosss the bed. Her legs and feet were all over me until I got up, moved her over and put a pillow down the middle of us. She’s still soundo now - I’ll get her up soon and we’ll get ourselves breakfasted, washed, uniformed and set out in the weather for school. It’s only 10 minutes away.☔️☔️.
Her mum is on the way to hospital - I will worry all day! ?
Sar - have a wonderful day with your girls. It sounds lovely! ❤️❤️.
GM - I bet Iris is really enjoying her baths. What a great waterproof thingy for her leg. ?
So pleased for you that your DS will be able to come over. ?
Pants enjoy your sleepover ??
Have a good day, everyone ???
Lovely to read lots of good news this morning.
Notagran, what a beautiful wreath! ?
Good morning from NE Hants. Lots of lovely cheerful messages to read this morning. I have a list composed last night and hope I can get through most of those to-day. Husband is waiting results of his COVID test from yesterday. We are isolating until results arrive but are fairly confident he hasn't got "IT". I spent yesterday afternoon making my own Christmas wreath from a kit, when it's daylight I'll check the front door to see if it's blown away or fallen apart. Enjoy your fish and chips folks, wish I could join you but we are trying to avoid fried food at the moment
Pic of my wreath as it was yesterday and as I hope it is to-day.
Good morning Mick and all, its 2° here in Glasgow. I can't decide whether to put out the washing or not, showers are predicted!
If anyone is in the least bit interested, the solution to yesterday's puzzle is at the end of yesterday's GM thread.
Well done Jax for being top of the class! ⭐
The golfer is out and about today, but a night disturbed by pain and some pretty weird dreams, means I will not be doing much.
Usually, I'm so organised, but my cards aren't even written. An enforced rest will sort that out.
The good news is I found the missing gin in a place, I had looked twice already!! I think I am going mad.
In addition I found DD's missing Christmas pyjamas, which I always give her on Christmas Eve and the After Eight sticks I bought to put in Dollie's favourite chocolate mint ice cream! It is gran's favourite too, we are indeed sympatico
I can now rest easy. ?
Yesterday's visit to the asthma clinic didn't go too well. I was in for over an hour and given a gentle reprimand from the new, but very thorough asthma nurse for not seeking help, was given a GP appointment for Monday and advised to phone 111 or 999 over the weekend, if I get any worse! That was a shock!
I have been unable to secure a face to face appointment for nearly two years, now have been given one, without even asking! The nurse was quite right to tell me off, I am my own worst enemy!!!
I'm permanently breathless, it looks like something isn't quite right with either my lungs or heart. I'm sure it will be resolved, well I hope it will!
I haven't read the posts yet, I'm waiting for my manservant to bring my cuppa, then I will read at my leisure. He really isn't too bad a husband, despite what I say about him. ?
Sending virtual hugs to all who are struggling and hoping that those with family in the sick bay are improving.
Wishing you all as pleasant day as possible.
Good morning all from a dark S Hants, think it’s dry!
Gagagran I must be fairly near you, can you please pop in and nag me to write some cards too? Bring yours, we’ll do them together!
The best news grandMattie ‘flying home for Christmas’, I’m happy for you ?
Tesco delivering later (hope so with strikes mentioned), then picking GC’s up from school, they’re staying tonight.
We’ll watch A boy called Christmas. A very good friend sent it to us.
Solved MD’s mystery present, a sink tidy.
Have a good Friday all, thoughts with those in a tough place ??
Good morning all from a dry Torbay.
It’s heartening to read some good news stories this morning, especially from grandMattie regarding her DS being able to travel and Iris having a bath!
Unusually, I’ve woken up with rather a headache and I had no alcohol last night! (DH would say that's why!) I hope it subsides as I’m due to meet my (lockdown) friend for lunch at Pierre's Bistrot.
Enjoy whatever the day brings. ?????
Good morning from a very wet and windy Essex by the sea.
Today I am meeting up with my two girls in London. We are going to Liberties, finding somewhere nice for lunch then going to Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park. It hasn't been just the three of us for a very long time so I'm quite excited.
DH is going to his boat and then I'm sure he will be having fish and chips for his tea.
Have a fabulous Friday everyone xx
Wonderful news Mattie
I give up!
Good Morning everyone from a dark and wet Severnside.
I’ve got enough cards made now. I just want to do a few more though to try out some ideas before I pack it all away and tidy the craft room for Christmas.
Off to do the weekly shop and top of the list will be crumpets to celebrate EV’s return. Lovely to see you too Grandmafrench.
This afternoon I will probably watch one of the Christmassy films where someone falls in love and they kiss with snowflakes falling around them ?
Have a good day and thinking of you all ??
Good morning from a wet E Kent where I t has rained most of the night.
Got wonderful news…
1. DS is allowed to fly home from India for Christmas; the pins in his hand will be removed when he gets back - we are beyond happy;
2. Iris has had her first bath in about 13 months. DD had found a gizmo that hermetically seals her plaster making it waterproof for a bath. A very joyful event!
The dentist has sourced the pain to a leaky filling - looks like this week will end better than it started.
Visiting my old friend this morning, then pottering for the rest of the day.
Have a gentle day full of ????. Carpe diem. ???☀️☀️☀️??
Good Morning all from East Staffordshire where it is still dark and could be cold, but I am boiling at the moment!
Off to work shortly and then we are off out with friends early fours at 3.30pm to have a drink and a bit of tea. I will then spend the evening listening to DH snoring on the sofa as he will have had 1 or 2 too many? means I can watch what I want on TV though, as long as I turn it up!!!
I spent yesterday evening helping DD get her house sorted for her DH coming hime, he is only here for two days then off again until Christmas Eve. It is so hard for her at this time of year but needs must, if they want to live in a posh house in a posh village, that costs a lot of money?
I do hope you are all feeling the best possible under you own personal circumstances and find a chance to smile today?
Morning all from a slightly milder (9degrees) south coast.
Had a great time at my WI Christmas meeting yesterday with a finger buffet, tea, and entertainment - some of it by yours truly. Must have gone down well because I was asked to book a repeat performance for next year's event. (I think some of it is down to their liking my northern accent!).
A quiet day planned for today but I must, I MUST write some cards. Just can't seem to get going with them.
Fish and chips here too today. It seems like a popular Friday treat.
Have the best day you can everyone.
Good morning Mick from a dark and dry north Wales- thought you’d overslept on your lovely new mattress!
I’m so impressed with folks Xmas preps so far....I’m still a few parcels short but they will be finished this morning for delivery over the weekend?.
Off to friend’s this evening for cut (hair), cocktail ? (Long Island Iced Tea since you ask ?) and a curry (Thai chicken - her forte). Will stop over so DH will have an empty....snooker and a snifter ? no doubt!
We will re-engage over a Full Monty at brunch tomorrow so enjoy your weekend peeps if you can x
Good Morning Mick and everyone else!
Sounds like things went smoothly for you yesterday Mick, it's always great when you don't have to spend half the day waiting for people to turn up.
It's windy here this morning, hope it drops a wee bit so I can take the dogs to the beach for a walk.
I have my granddaughter for a sleepover tonight, so fish and chips for us too!
Hope everyone stays warm and well ?
Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark , but dry here in Brackley at the moment .
Yesterday went better than I thought ,, the chiropodist arrived a little earlier than the time given, and the mattress was only a few minutes later than its time of delivery .
Today, I plan on having a couple of hours in Bicester, then get some Fish & Chips on return, and then a quiet afternoon.
Take Care,
Mick
