Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark , but dry here in Brackley at the moment .
Yesterday went better than I thought ,, the chiropodist arrived a little earlier than the time given, and the mattress was only a few minutes later than its time of delivery .
Today, I plan on having a couple of hours in Bicester, then get some Fish & Chips on return, and then a quiet afternoon.
Take Care,
Mick

Thankyou all for your very kind wishes and thoughts for my DD. It’s lovely to think you all care. Xx

Just about good morning all from a sunny W Kent. Been laid out for days with a cold caught from DH, neither of us have had one like it for years. DDIL has gone down with the Covid and DS and GD have rushed off to get tested, I can feel another difficult Christmas coming on.
Very happy memories of trips to Liberty's fabric sale. I bought ends each year and mum and I made up dresses for my daughters when they were pre-school.
Hope all those out and about have a happy day

mrswoo Fri 10-Dec-21 11:42:56

Just popped in to say how lovely it is,to have EV back where she belongs. I was on a train returning from a visit to Stratford on Avon catching up on GN when I read of her return. (Lovely Christmas Market at Stratford by the way!)
notgran the wreath is lovely and you are way too modest about your achievement!

ginny Fri 10-Dec-21 11:41:54

Good ( just about) morning.
I’ve not posted for a couple of weeks as life has been rather hectic for various reasons but hopefully easing a bit now.

I am sitting waiting for DD3 to pick me up from the hospital where I have just had an x-Ray. I’m out before my appointment time ! Very efficient.
We, plus little Charlie will pop in somewhere for a quick snack and visit a couple of shops.
Later I’ll be decorating our dining room in preparation for a surprise birthday party for DD2 tomorrow.
Not had time yet to read all the thread and catch up with everyones news but best wishes to you all. Hope you can all find a smile in your day.

A late good morning to you all,

I’ve had a busy few days so haven’t posted but have read through your posts and am very pleased to see that EllenVannin is back with us ?.

I’ve made a start on trimming the house, as it takes a while to put everything up, so it’s a gradual process. The tree will go up tomorrow. It’s nice to have a bit of festive cheer.

Sorry to read of so many having family members testing positive for Covid.

Hope you get the problem with the asthma sorted very soon, Marydoll. Make sure you take things easy.

Take care everyone.

Nannagarra Fri 10-Dec-21 11:32:30

Thank you for the best wishes for our WA. We’re looking forward to raising our glasses with you. Cheers! ?

Kalu Fri 10-Dec-21 11:03:36

It’s so nice to read your posts again in the morning EV. Rotten luck covid has struck DD and the children. I hope they are not too unwell. Hope you have a good day.

You are really have a run of one thing after another just now Marydoll. Good to know the asthma nurse is on top of things which will hopefully help your breathing problems. ?
Don’t forget to put your feet up or I will be on your case. ?

A late Good morning from sunny County Durham.
Notagran I do love your wreath. It looks spectacular and I will take away some ideas from it for my own next year if I may. Mine tend to be quite plain with holly collected locally. Maybe next year I will look towards adding more decorations.
Yesterday's trip to the Christmas Tree Festival was wonderful, although not quite up to the 100 decorated trees of 2019. My favourite was the afternoon tea tree. It was created by a local WI group and I thought it looked amazing.
On a sad note my youngest grandson who is 7 has become infected with covid. A PCR test confirmed this earlier today. He's suffering from headache and fluctuating temperature. Fingers crossed he recovers soon and his parents are OK. It's all such a worry.
On a brighter note at least this has happened now and not over the Christmas holiday.
Have the best day you can everyone.

aggie Fri 10-Dec-21 10:55:10

Sar 63 years ago I was in London doing an exam , we did a quick whirl of the shops , I got to Liberties and bought some Chinese patterned brocade , rich blue with gorgeous colours , I made a dress for a Christmas dance , last I saw of it was last week , granddaughter was wearing it for a party ! I was rather sturdy in those days , it was far too big on her , but she is only 12 !

Beechnut Fri 10-Dec-21 10:46:47

Wishing the Nannagarras a lovely Wedding Anniversary and weekend away ?

A lovely wreath notgran. Now you’ve made one you’ll be fine to make others, all individual.

muse Fri 10-Dec-21 10:37:02

?? good morning all. Now I’ve dipped my toe back into GM’s waters again, I’ll pop back occasionally with the odd bit of news. I’m back on the house build project. Power companies are being sought.

Yes- EV it must be Lurpak ? Yum.

Thank you for the daily Matts Urms ?

Congratulations nannagarra on your anniversary.

It is sad just how quickly covid is spreading again. My DD was due into work yesterday. She is doing a phased return. Two had had covid so the company did a deep clean throughout but then Wednesday three more were tested positive. She is so scared about catching it as there’s no help if she had to isolate plus she has a flat in the top of a house. Shared stairs and main door!

We have a dry day. Cornwall has been rather boggy of late. Mya will enjoy her walk. ???

Beautiful wreath notagran. Well done. I made my first one this year.
?? have a safe day all.

LauraNorderr Fri 10-Dec-21 10:32:11

my covid warrior message was to EV

Kalu Fri 10-Dec-21 10:24:47

Good morning all. I have no idea what today’s forecast is here in Glasgow but a crimson sunrise earlier isn’t a bad start.

So happy to hear your DS will be home for Christmas GrandM also it’s so nice to see Iris has now progressed to a soak in the bath. Well done your DD in finding the waterproof protector. I had no idea such a thing existed.
Best wishes to your DD Gingster
Happy Ruby anniversary Nannagarra ?
That’s a very professional looking wreath Notgran beautiful.

I was a bit ahead of myself with my dental plan. Over an hour in the chair, preparing gums and two screws inserted but I have to wait another ten weeks until it heals before the final step.

Have a good weekend and best wishes for those in the sick bay.

Blossoming Fri 10-Dec-21 10:23:06

Good morning Mick and everybody. I’m glad your day went well Mick and I hope the new mattress is comfy. The sun is shining once again in my corner of Lancashire, although we had some heavy showers during the night. My plans for today are going to the hairdresser, then later tidying up my sewing bag and stash. The usual physio exercises and cycling (indoors) later.

Wishing you all a peaceful day. Healing thoughts to all who are under the weather. ???

LauraNorderr Fri 10-Dec-21 10:21:04

Sorry to hear that your family have joined the army of covid warriors and hope they all recover soon.

Gwenisgreat1 Fri 10-Dec-21 10:11:23

Good Morning all from Harrogate with wall to wall sunshine - I have optimistically hung out a wash!!
GrandMattie Iris will enjoy her bath - WOW 1st in 13 months!! Glad your DS can come home for Xmas, that will be a great relief.
Notagran that wreath is lovely, you've obviously followed instructions well.
Congratulations Nannagarra on your wedding anniversary - have a lovely time.
Enjoy your time out Pantglas
I'll say a wee prayer for your daughter Gingster
I hope to get into town for a bit of shopping, haven't been for ages, but it will probably be busy.
Glad there wasn't a clash between your chiropodist and mattress, Mick
Hope everyone has the best day possible

EllanVannin Fri 10-Dec-21 10:07:16

Good Morning All x
Dry and cold this morning but nice and bright for a change.
Plenty going on with everyone I notice and it's good to see that I'm not the only one lagging behind with the writing of the cards smile Why do I keep glancing at them then scurry off to do something else ?

As you may or may not have noticed on another thread yesterday I wrote about the " big day " arrangements being dashed. One of the GG children tested positive, so it calls for them all to isolate-----all 6 of them ! Then there's my D of course, for the next 10 days.
I'm not taking any chances and will stay put. What's new ? We all had to do it last year so what's another year ?

I'll still have as much grub to feed an army grin
D sounded a bit hamstrung on the phone though as she wanted to continue shopping etc. but can't, plus her frustration at not being able to come and help me but fortunately I can muddle through okay.

Just seen a face at the window----the old Tom has ventured out of his kennel for breakfast. How he keeps going beats me but boy does he love his food and still has a Sunday dinner grin

How brilliant has Iris done, bless her. It's so heartwarming to see the progress that she has made and she'd have felt so good after her bath too.

Marydoll your strength to keep going amazes me. It's your sheer determination in not letting anything beat you which I admire, plus your great humour of course even at your hardest times. You know your limits, so rest yourself when needs be.

Urms I'll be ever so grateful to you for bringing me into my " second home " . It's now something extra to look forward to each day, plus over the festive period should things here go awry.

Thoughts to those who are worrying right now as they're magnified so much more at this time of the year. x

I'm sitting tight as usual waiting for a volley of parcels, but I'm pretty well organised, it'll just be a matter of wrapping them later and remembering what I've wrapped and for who------without poking a hole in to have a look hahahaha.

Just taken a lump of cod from the freezer to thaw for my dinner later. I thought I'd have that for a change and do some creamed potatoes and parsley sauce. I'll probably have an audience of the cats watching begrudging every mouthful grin

Crumpets are well down the hatch as I can always think straight once I've eaten them. What's not to like about them brimming with Lurpak and it running down your chin ?

Here's hoping that everyone's in fine fettle to carry on with the day whatever you do. A big thankyou to all xx

Auntieflo Fri 10-Dec-21 10:02:30

Good morning Mick, Annie and all. It is sunny and bright but it looks as though there was a frost earlier.
I thought that I had written all our cards yesterday, but still need a few more, so when I drop DH in town later, I shall go and find some.
My back is painful this morning, so I am having a lazy time and slowly getting myself organised.
GrandMattie what lovely news from you this morning. DS coming home, Iris in the bath and painful tooth sorted.
I thought Marydoll's gadget, was a sink strainer/ colander. Nearly right.
Last night I finished a hat and mittens for GGS. Don't know what he will think, but he does love dressing up ?. Do they still have strings on their mittens these days?
Off for a shower and hair wash now.
Have a good day one and all.

Oopsadaisy1 Fri 10-Dec-21 09:24:47

Good morning everyone from a cold but beautiful morning in Oxfordshire.
I was going to do so much today, but a sleepless night means that I’ve only just woken up after falling asleep when it was time to get up.
So much good news on here this morning! GCs to stay, crafts being done with excellent results and family coming back to the U.K. and an Anniversary as well. It’s so good to read.
I might just put the Christmas decs up today and call it quits, have a good day everyone and a hug for those who aren’t so chipper this morning.

LauraNorderr Fri 10-Dec-21 09:18:04

Meant to admire your wreath notgran, it's lovely.

aggie Fri 10-Dec-21 09:17:42

Good Morning everyone, it’s lovely and bright with sparkling frost
My Sister is calling today , I got my cards finished yesterday so I have started writing them , sis can get hers , save on stamps ..
I have some to post to South of the Border , so in the EU ., so cost a small fortune to post !
Marydoll I love Lakeland , full of gadgets you didn’t know you needed ! That tidy is great , I might look for one for my bits and pieces!
I was sorry to read that GrannySomerset is sad , it is hard xxxx
I am away to tidy my table , the place is covered in bits , which I daren’t put away yet in case I have forgotten a card for someone
Lovely to see so many posting

EkwaNimitee Fri 10-Dec-21 09:16:21

Good morning Mick and all from sunny Carlisle. I haven't been outside yet but I can see my car windscreen is well frosted up. I'm not going anywhere so I'm not bothered. Tesco are coming to me instead at midday. I'm hoping the ground isn't frozen as I'm wanting to lift more turf and complete another border. As for the other border, wire netting has gone over my poor crocuses, the cats' toilet is now closed for business!
I have a little light housework to get on with and I might do some baking plus I have a book to finish.
I'm happy for you, grandMattie, your DS managing to get home will be a real lift for you and your family.
And congratulations to Nannagarra and DH, have a good time away.
And a good weekend to you all.

LauraNorderr Fri 10-Dec-21 09:14:15

Top of the morning all from Anglesey. Bits of blue sky, white clouds, grey clouds and a big dark one in the shape of a poodle, but it's dry and only a bit breezy.
Flying home for Christmas, tra la la... great news grandMattie, at last a big hug coming up, glad his hand can be sorted a bit later.
I'll bet there were shrieks of delight from Iris, splashing about in her bath, the simple pleasures that many of us take for granted.
How lovely to have your little granddaughter in your big bed Gingster. I know what you mean about the wriggling and travelling all over the bed. Hope your daughter's op goes well and she's home soon.
Happy anniversary nannagarra hope you heard the chink of champagne glass. Can't get emojis on this old laptop and my iphone seems to have taken on a life of its own this morning.
It was lovely to welcome back EV yesterday and to see some other much missed posters pop in to join the celebration.
Hope all the covid warriors big and small get by with mild symptoms and a quick recovery.
Still holding your hand GrannySomerset and anyone else who needs it.
Wishing you all a random pink flamingo and a good day.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 10-Dec-21 09:07:37

NannyJan53 Fri 10-Dec-21 09:03:02

Good morning from a rather damp Black Country.

Making mince pies this morning with Mums homemade mincemeat which everyone loves. She gives loads of jars away. We are invited to MrJ's Nieces house tomorrow for a family drinks and nibbles get together in the late afternoon, early evening. Not seen most of his family for over 2 years. Two babies have been born who we have never met!

We will take my Mincepies, and travel there on the train as she lives 5 mins walk from the station, and we have our senior pass which gives free train travel in the West Midlands smile

Audiology appointment this afternoon, as apparently I need new moulds (discovered Wednesday when I went for a tube change). So off on the bus to Merry Hill shopping centre later, for a mooch before my appointment to have impressions made.

Welcome to all the new posters, and wishing you all a lovely day.
