Apologies Peasblossom it looks as though I've paraphrased your post.

Namsnanny Sun 12-Dec-21 20:49:42

Theres a lot about links and whether they're safe, and a lot of posters getting cross. A comparison by those who've already watched Rabbit Proof Fence (I havent). A couple who talk about Australia, Oh and a bit about farts

Sounds like a typical GN thread if you ask me grin

Bytheby, I hope you're not seriously thinking of leaving Bluebelle?
It would be a shame if you did.

Here is a link to more testimonies from The Stolen Generation if anyone is interested:

After 80 plus posts, is it not obvious what the subject is?

It's about the Stolen Generation of native (Aboriginal) Australians and their testimonies.

I have posted a link which I think is safe but don't follow it if you're unsure.

I think Bluebelle must have got the message by now. ?

Peasblossom Sun 12-Dec-21 20:33:13

Well no not really.

There’s a lot about links and whether they’re safe and a lot of posters getting cross and a bit about farts.

Comparisons by who’ve already watched the Rabbit proof fence. (I haven’t).

And just a couple who talk about Australia.

So if you already know what it’s about, you know.
And if you don’t you don’t.

I can’t think it’s an effective way to get people interested in looking at something the NEED to know.

Germanshepherdsmum Sun 12-Dec-21 20:29:35

I made my request early on, if you care to look back, when no-one knew if it was a bona fide link. If that had happened then it would have been sorted out much earlier. Of course I know what it’s about now, what a silly comment. Perhaps read earlier posts before wading in?

I did ask for a précis but no reply.

I did ask for a précis but no reply.

Peasblossom Sun 12-Dec-21 19:34:25

Why not repost with a short intro title.

You might get a lot more interest?

Delila Sun 12-Dec-21 19:15:35

BlueBelle, I can always tell from your posts that you’re a very compassionate person.

BlueBelle Sun 12-Dec-21 19:01:36

I m so sorry I irritated you peasblossom and I ll not bother again I ll ask HQ to take this down

The lady in the video doesn’t deserve this so I m off

Peasblossom Sun 12-Dec-21 18:57:59

“I didn’t consider I needed to add anything”

But how would I know if I was going to be interested unless there was something in the title.

Or was the mystery supposed to draw me in to clicking?

It didn’t work. I still havent clicked on it.

Sorry I just found it irritating and it put me off.

Children from other ethnic backgrounds such as British, Eastern European etc also had harrowing tales to tell about life in the Australian orphanages run by Christians - or not tell, in some cases, as they buried the memories deep within.

I couldn't give a silent fart who clicks or doesn't click on links, mine or anyone elses.
I just don't enjoy reading 15 pages of people casting doubt on a long term member.

... I got the impression the doubt was about the link, not the poster.

I'm fairly new, so everyone is a long term member to me.

A quick nod to the nature of the video might have had more people watching it.

I just did. And am going to buy the book "Rabbit-Proof Fence" from Amazon.

MissAdventure Sun 12-Dec-21 17:01:45

I'll have to read that a good few times, thanks chestnut. smile

MissAdventure Sun 12-Dec-21 16:58:55

Erm.
No. smile

Alegrias1 Sun 12-Dec-21 16:58:20

MissAdventure

Where are you going?
Can I come? grin

To cook dinner. Nowhere exciting. Can you cook pasta? wink

Chestnut Sun 12-Dec-21 16:57:08

MissAdventure

And the url I posted about a dishwasher was about 3 miles long.
I don't know how to shorten them. smile

To shorten them paste the link into the post. Enter [[ at the start. Write a title like Lorry Drivers on Strike after the link and then ]] but leave no spaces (I have left spaces or it will come out as a link!)

The link and the title will be included together but you will only see the title. Use the 'preview' button to check it before posting.

MissAdventure Sun 12-Dec-21 16:56:02

Where are you going?
Can I come? grin

Alegrias1 Sun 12-Dec-21 16:55:10

I have to go in 5 minutes. You'll be pleased to learn wink

Nobody is casting doubt on a long term member. None of this is personal. Which many people have said.

However we are not going to click on dangerous looking links links and I for one don't appreciate being told I have to toughen up.

Alegrias1 Sun 12-Dec-21 16:50:31

Indeed, we all do make all sorts of grammatical and spelling errors. I certainly do

That's why its an art, not a science to know if links are safe. And why its nothing personal if people decline to click on your links.

MissAdventure Sun 12-Dec-21 16:49:41

Well, I'm glad we have that sorted. wink

Chestnut Sun 12-Dec-21 16:49:29

It would be much more acceptable to personalise the post by writing a few details and maybe an opinion, then insert the link. That would give people confidence it was something the poster genuinely wanted to share. A link on its own with no comment is a leap in the dark that people may not wish to take.

MissAdventure Sun 12-Dec-21 16:48:46

And we all make grammatical errors.
It's a chat forum, not a dissertation. smile
