We need to know what its about before we click on any dodgy-looking links.

Witzend Sun 12-Dec-21 10:19:51

Just what I was going to say, Alegrias.

BlueBelle Sun 12-Dec-21 10:23:34

It’s not a dodgy link it’s an heartrendering story told by an elderly lady
Surely I ve been on here long enough for you to trust I would post anything dodgy up

Alegrias1 Sun 12-Dec-21 10:32:05

With respect BlueBelle it looks like a dodgy link and you could have been hacked.

Also I don't click on links without knowing what they're about or where they've come from. There are things that I can't watch, especially if they are described as heartbreaking.

So I won't be clicking.

BlueSky Sun 12-Dec-21 10:32:56

Sorry BlueBelle but people feel uneasy clicking on links.

Oldwoman70 Sun 12-Dec-21 10:35:11

Perhaps BlueBelle could give a description of what it is about - like many people I don't click on links unless I have some idea of what it contains (even when posted by members of GN)

Germanshepherdsmum Sun 12-Dec-21 10:38:56

I agree with what others have said. Surely you can précis it BlueBelle?

MerylStreep Sun 12-Dec-21 10:42:11

I’ve seen it before.
It’s about the stolen aboriginal children.

Galaxy Sun 12-Dec-21 10:47:06

It's very moving.

glammanana Sun 12-Dec-21 10:55:29

With regard to clicking on links, yesterday I received a link via my FB messenger account from a very trusted friend only for her to e-mail me to my private e-mail telling me she had been hacked, good job I hadn't opened the FB message so I am never going to open suggested links ever.

Namsnanny Sun 12-Dec-21 11:01:49

For future ref. What about this link looked dodgy Aligrias1?

Riverwalk Sun 12-Dec-21 11:03:05

It's a link to YouTube

The Healing Foundation

Alegrias1 Sun 12-Dec-21 11:09:39

Namsnanny

For future ref. What about this link looked dodgy Aligrias1?

For me Namsnanny; no indication of the provenance of the link. Much longer than I would expect a link to be. It says it's from YouTube and there are some very odd things on YouTube.

And sorry about this Bluebelle, but the grammar errors in the title of the thread.

nanna8 Sun 12-Dec-21 11:14:20

I wouldn’t click on it,either. The number of dodgy sites seems to have exploded recently.

Galaxy Sun 12-Dec-21 11:23:26

I clicked on it and am still alive.

Calistemon Sun 12-Dec-21 11:23:45

There are many stories on the internet of the Stolen Generations, some from ABC or National Museum of Australia so if anyone wants to know more then resources are available.
Check out Noel Pearson too.

If there is a lock symbol at the left hand side of the link should that mean it is secure?

Galaxy Sun 12-Dec-21 11:24:37

There are some very odd things on GN to be fair Alegrias and I still click on it smile

Poppyred Sun 12-Dec-21 11:28:07

Aw, sad story.

Calistemon Sun 12-Dec-21 11:30:11

And sorry about this Bluebelle, but the grammar errors in the title of the thread.

I think Bluebelle has been on here for long enough for us to know she's a bona fide poster.
Unless she has been been hacked by a seagull, of course.

BlueSky Sun 12-Dec-21 11:36:51

Exactly Glammanana Same here, I’ve received links on fb and messenger from trusted friends only to find out they had been hacked. Luckily I never open them, so nothing personal.

Audi10 Sun 12-Dec-21 11:40:18

No I won’t be clicking links,

Poppyred Sun 12-Dec-21 11:44:42

The link is safe! Stop making a song and dance………

Alegrias1 Sun 12-Dec-21 11:45:27

I'm not getting at BlueBelle. Like others here, I have received messages purportedly from people I know personally that turned out to be phishing or worse.

You don't see the padlock until after you've clicked on the link.

Germanshepherdsmum Sun 12-Dec-21 11:48:24

Yes Alegrias you’re right about the title of the thread. I hadn’t studied it before. No criticism of Bluebelle but it’s exactly the sort of error you get in the title of a dodgy email.
