Good luck dear Kitcheners. I seem to have missed quite a few sad posts over the last week or two. Sending love and condolences to all who have lost a loved one [flowrs]

cornergran Thu 30-Dec-21 10:03:03

Trying to catch up with the news I’m sorry to understand there has been more sadness. flowers and my love winging their way to dogsmakemesmile and granmarie.

This super-cold is a major pain in the rear, I felt better yesterday morning, now it’s back to bed and grumble time. The Butler would appreciate your sympathy I think.

Take care everyone. TOYA.

TillyTrotter Thu 30-Dec-21 09:52:08

Thank you Nannytopsy I will have just a small slice of Xmas cake - ours was ‘as dry as a bone’!
I’m sorry Charlie has to go on hols so that Grand-dog can have one at yours ?

Nannytopsy Thu 30-Dec-21 09:47:28

Good morning everyone! It’s breezy with real sunshine here in Suffolk so I must get the washing on!!
Just as everything is settling down, DD & SIL have decided to nip to Spain for a couple of days to see his parents. We shall look after the dog, so I need to book the cattery as respite care for Charlie. Enthusiastic lurcher plus elderly, obstinate cat is not a good mix!
So looking forward to seeing them as they had Covid at Christmas itself and it was cancelled.
There’s a Christmas cake by the Aga and a cafetière of coffee for elevenses if any kitcheners drop in. Have a productive day everyone!
Are you ready to go Urms?

Dogsmakemesmile Thu 30-Dec-21 09:23:34

Good morning kitcheners. Your kind words are appreciated. We have a stunning blue and pink sky here. Will walk to the high street later and perhaps window shop. Still being rather cautious. Soup on (vegetable if anyone wants some) and two washes done. Incredibly mild so may hang things out. Will try to stop eating violet creams today and focus on fresh fruit and vegetables. Lovely meal at my daughter's last night. An Indian takeaway. Beautiful. I have admin to do and may start job hunting. My 2022 diary insert arrived yesterday so dates to write in. Have the best day possible. Stay safe.

Grannmarie Thu 30-Dec-21 08:56:48

Thank you, TillyTrotter.
I'm glad to hear that your plumbing has been sorted!

TillyTrotter Thu 30-Dec-21 08:51:08

Just catching up with kitchen news and sorry some of our ladies have suffered loss of loved ones.
? for Dogsmakemesmile and Granmarie.
Brook wishing you a safe journey and memorable times with your family.
We welcomed a sunny afternoon yesterday and it lengthened the daylight hours until 4.30 pm. Brighter days are ahead I feel, in more ways than one.
My plumbing was sorted yesterday (well the sink’s, not mine) and I can make full use of the room again. Honestly, the pile of washing will reach my waist soon!
I hope everyone can find something to make them feel inner peace or enjoyment today. TOYA. ?

Grannmarie Thu 30-Dec-21 08:26:39

Thank you, Maddyone.

Grannmarie and dogsmakemesmile I’m so sorry for your losses. A beloved Nonna and a beloved father. You will always remember them flowersflowers

Jax thank you for remembering how I struggle with my mum. She’s always been a very difficult person and is not any easier now she’s old. I try to be a good daughter to her, but I struggle with it. My son visited her today, she was in bed again. She rarely gets up now, but stays in bed saying she’s ill. We check with the staff, and it seems she’s not ill. It’s a difficult situation. She told my son she didn’t like the Christmas present he gave her, it was home made coconut ice. But she’s my mother and I must be patient.

Anyway we went to the sea shore this afternoon as it stopped raining. We took the two small boys with us. They wanted ice cream but I told them only if we find an open kiosk, we’re not going in any cafes. The Covid rates are through the roof and I want to avoid it. Well we found an open kiosk and so two happy boys, one chocolate ice cream with sprinkles and one salted caramel ice cream with sprinkles.

Dogsmakemesmile no need to put on a brave face for us. You have had a shock and it takes time to adjust. Hope you get some rest and glad you have support. Take care ?

Grannmarie Wed 29-Dec-21 22:34:18

Thank you, Brook.
Dogs, flowers
Doodle, I might just pop into the Argy at New Year after a drop of Dutch courage!

I have spent a relaxing evening on the sofa, ? reading and ? listening to Gold Radio in the background. I've only discovered it recently but I heartily recommend it for pop music fans of a certain vintage... currently playing Kites, Simon Dupree and the Big Sound..songs that take me back to a time and a place..

Grandmabatty Wed 29-Dec-21 21:45:06

Dogsmakemesmile it sounds like you are having a tough time. I'm glad you have support in real life. I wish I could give you a hug. ?

Dogsmakemesmile Wed 29-Dec-21 21:23:18

I did not mean to distress anyone. Please forgive me. I posted on here about three weeks ago about my father dying and said I would not post for a while. Obviously things have been much more complicated. I do not wish to say anything. Please do not worry about me. I have support. As I said I gained much comfort in reading other people's posts these past few weeks. Life goes on. It must.
Apologies if I worried people. Grief is not linear but I seem to be stuck in the stunned part right now and perhaps my post was unclear.x

brook2704 Wed 29-Dec-21 21:22:17

So sorry to hear of your loss dogsmakemesmile please come back on here when you can and you feel up to it
Also condolences to your family on your loss grannmarie ?

Doodle Wed 29-Dec-21 21:09:36

Grannmarie you would be most welcome in the Argy.
It will be open just for New Years Eve and New Year’s Day then closed again for refurbishment until the next event.
muse will certainly raise a glass to you if you don’t make it in (how we will cope without your pasties I don’t know ?.)
In case I miss you tomorrow morning, Many Happy Returns and hope you have a lovely birthday. ???. I haven’t told anyone…..well except the Kitcheners and the Lockdown Gang. ?

Jaxjacky Wed 29-Dec-21 21:08:04

I too was not aware Dogsmakemesmile and I’m so sorry you have suffered an obviously dreadful loss.
We are here, go as slowly as you need x

SueDonim Wed 29-Dec-21 20:59:54

X-posted. Dogs I am so sorry to hear of your bereavement, I had no idea. sad flowers

SueDonim Wed 29-Dec-21 20:56:29

There are too many posts for me to catch up on, this is such a chatty place! ❤️

I’m back home, having driven home from Yorkshire yesterday. I’d expected to wake up feeling stiff all over after such a long drive but took the precaution of downing an ibuprofen before bedtime. Hey presto, just a little aching in one knee this morning! We had to go out in this miserable weather to forage for fresh food this afternoon. Everywhere seemed fully stocked so that was good.

Dh is tackling the massive pile of laundry while I sit with my gorgeous cat on my lap. He’s been most vociferous since we got back, although I know he’s been thoroughly spoiled by his pet sitter while we’ve been away.

Peaceful dreams to you all. Xxx

Grannmarie Wed 29-Dec-21 20:50:03

Dear Dogs, I am so sorry to read of your bereavement, I'm not completely up to date with GN this week. You sound like you are in shock, be gentle with yourself, take time to rest and keep in touch with people who understand. Ddog will be a comfort, they know when we are grieving.
Thinking of you, ???

Dogsmakemesmile Wed 29-Dec-21 20:35:57

Hello kitcheners,
Many, many thanks for the kindness expressed here and in PMs following my bereavement. Investigations are continuing regarding the death so I would prefer not to say any more. I am in a bizarre limbo.
Despite not posting, I read everyone else's news and events daily. They gave me such comfort. So pleased for Soop.I am conscious that so many of you have borne losses and your posts have epitomised a resilience that I will try to emulate. My main problem at the moment is a complete lack of energy and inability to finish sentences when talking... Thank you all for being part of something good. And yes, Ddog still makes me smile. I am grateful for all I have x
