Here we are again
Happy as can be (in the circumstances)
All GOOD friends and jolly GOOD company.

Welcome. The buffet is waiting. Our retreat is warm and cosy. There will always be a comforting virtual arm around the shoulder for those who need one. flowers

Tilly so pleased to hear you have persuaded a plumber to visit although it is a tad early for me these days. I am sure you would not notice if I added my pile of washing. I think you have a cat so I could sit and stroke the cat while my washing was being attended to. Happy me and delighted cat.

I have not seen the sun for many days and I have rarely opened the curtains it has been so abysmal and dark.

I agree, very soon the drop bot will be sorted.

TOYA

Crossed posts Muse, I don’t type very fast! I’m glad you’ve been able to enjoy some sea air and sunshine too.

Blossoming Tue 28-Dec-21 18:05:41

Good evening dear Kitcheners. We have had such a good day. After a morning pottering indoors due to the rain we had a lovely seaside walk at Lytham. The sun came out for us and the chilly wind put some roses in our cheeks! The air was so fresh and bracing and lovely after being shut up at home so much. I’m feeling very sleepy now.

Soop we are all keeping our fingers crossed that next Christmas drop bot will be a distant unpleasant memory flowers

I saw some too TillyTrotter. It wasn't going to last long so Mya and myself headed for a coastal walk. My favourite beach was nearly empty which meant I was able to drive, without stopping, down the narrow Cornish lanes to get to it. Bliss ?

I walked around the headland to the next beach, one the family love to visit. It was very blustery and the waves were being whipped up, much to the delight of some kitesurfers. I can imagine my DGD1 doing this on her next visit. Oh to be young and brave again!

Fresh air did me good too soop. It was lovely to see people out and so many with their dogs. I enjoy MrM's company but I hope Christmas 2022 can be celebrated with our family gatherings again. I've missed it. My daily chats with DD have kept my spirits up along with messages from friends.

I have roast parsnip soup to tend to, so take care all kitcheners. Very little cake to offer but there's a box of After Eights (3/4 of one). I couldn't resist a few with my coffee earlier on.

It’s already warming up here on the south coast, it’s been about ten degrees today. It’s forecast to be warmer later in the week. I’ve been up to the care home to see mother, she was quite crotchety again today, but I chatted along and tried to cheer her up. It’s quite hard work really. She was in bed again, had refused to get up, refused to take her medicine for the third day running. Says she needs a doctor for a headache, but was showing no signs of being in pain. The staff say she’s fine, not ill, she just says she’s ill. It’s very hard work with her. The home is absolutely gorgeous, we looked at some awful ones. This is lovely. And the staff so patient with her. It’s the best I could do.

Lovely soop, I’m glad you managed to get out for a little walk and a bit of fresh air. It will have done you good. It won’t be long before your appointment and then surgery will follow. Next year will be a better year.

I’ve included some pictures of my daughter’s dog Callie, all the way from New Zealand, just to cheer anyone who’s feeling low. She’s such a sweet dog, with a lovely, gentle nature.

Sweetpeasue Tue 28-Dec-21 16:56:18

Hi Soop
So sorry you've had a challenging few days. Hoping that your letter will come very soon with a date for your surgeon and op. The holidays, whilst can be a welcome distraction, can delay post too. Crossed fingers you'll hear soon. ?

Feelingmyage55 Tue 28-Dec-21 16:27:57

soop ? for you, just because.
A lovely sunny day in the north of Scotland and lots of families out enjoying the fresh air. Very fresh at minus 2.
A light meal here before another celebration at New Year.
annsixty. Hope you are having a better day.
I have left some chocolate log on the side.

soop Tue 28-Dec-21 16:24:04

We have made some thank you cards of one of the fabulous Kintyre sunsets. I need to thank four people who kindly donated Nike sportswear for the raffle that enabled our grandson to raise extra funds for the drop bot surgery.

After which, I shall log off and sup a refreshing brew.

I continue to feel blessed to have such dear friends as you lovely lot. smile moon

Good afternoon everybody in the kitchen. It’s still icy cold here in Inverness, not really got above freezing today and the roads and pavements are very slippery. I think our warmer weather is due up here from about midday tomorrow so looking forward to feeling a bit less chilly. The garden is frozen solid so I’ve not been out to potter since before Christmas
I’ve got a big pan of lentil and spinach soup on the hob so will be having that with some warm crusty bread soon. Then I’m settling down in front of the fire for a cosy evening in watching the TV
Soop hoping for very good news for you soon

GrannyGravy13 Tue 28-Dec-21 16:13:14

Sorry to hear you are suffering soop let’s hope your operation will be early in 2022.

annsixty (((hugs)))

Will try to catch up with your news, I have been limiting time on GN over Christmas in order to catch uo with my reading pile along with visiting family.

TillyTrotter Tue 28-Dec-21 15:24:51

There has been a thing in the sky this afternoon. Oh yes, I remember, it is called the Sun ☀️
Please come again tomorrow ☀️

TillyTrotter Tue 28-Dec-21 15:23:47

Good afternoon. soop as well as deserving your operation you deserve a medal .
Grandmabatty I have done a lot of tidying in my head but it hasn’t told my fingers to get to it IYKWIM?
There is always tomorrow. First thing the plumber is coming. Once the washing machine can be used there will be no stopping me ?
I hope you peeps are feeling nice and relaxed today after the business of Christmas. TOYA.

Grandmabatty Tue 28-Dec-21 14:48:08

Good afternoon Soop. It's such a buggeration for you. ?
I walked to Aldi and back this morning for bread and milk. I've superficially tidied the spare room, tidied the kitchen and put my presents away. I'm going to watch Evil under the Sun shortly.

soop Tue 28-Dec-21 14:40:59

Good afternoon darling you lot. The sun is shining. We had a brief stroll but I couldn't wait to return home. The "drop bot" is awful and, as hard as I try, I'm finding it difficult to cope with the ongoing-ness of it and all it entails.

I appreciate having you here in our kitchen. It is a great comfort to be able to off-load my frustration. Any day now, the letter will arrive that will boost my morale. Not too long before we get to meet with the surgeon and have a date for the surgery. In the meantime, in-between time (hugs) unlimited to be shared with every one of you. flowers

SueDonim Tue 28-Dec-21 00:16:40

flowers for Soop, Annsixty and everyone else feeling under the weather.

Our little sojourn in Yorkshire is almost over. We trotted off to Harrogate today, which dd loved, despite the gloom of fog and then Misty rain. I couldn’t believe how many shops they have - it’s like High Streets used to be! Some beautiful Christmas trees were on display in the windows of some beautiful houses on the way there and back.

We rounded off the evening by watching Mary Poppins Returns.

Sweet dreams, everyone! Xx

maddyone Tue 28-Dec-21 00:03:09

We had a quiet day here too. It rained hard all morning and all evening, but we managed to get out for a walk in the afternoon. Dinner was the end of yesterday’s ham, fried potatoes, cauliflower cheese, and sprouts. We finished off with a lovely bowl of the blackberry and apple trifle that I made for yesterday, although we were ten yesterday, we only ate half of the trifle.
Sleep well everyone.

Urmstongran Mon 27-Dec-21 20:37:21

Lucky you. Stop rubbing it in. ?

Doodle Mon 27-Dec-21 20:02:07

In recent years , Boxing Day has been the day after Christmas Day but traditionally it couldn’t fall on a Sunday and would be the following Monday i.e. Today. I’m just a throwback to ancient times. ?
Urms no, but I have had a glass or two of wine ??

Yiayia4 Mon 27-Dec-21 19:04:39

Kind thoughts to annesixty. So pleased to be a small part of a much better quality of life for you very soon Soop
Arrived home after a very long 5 hour drive but a fab time was had by all, lots of fun and happy memories will last forever.
Take care all keep safe.

Jaxjacky Mon 27-Dec-21 18:39:00

I was going to say Urms, do you have Boxing Day mk2 Doodle?
Another quiet one here, MrJ ventured out to change my socks for the right size…and pick up my son’s Birthday present, ordered online.
We went for a late walk to see all the lights and got drenched. Cold meat with the last of the bubble for me, with chips and gravy for him, I do love leftovers with a range of pickles.
Hoping laundry white goods start behaving soon.
If I had to endure your condition soop, well, I would not be any way as self deprecating as you are, you have my admiration and ??.
I do hope if there’s a need to rustle up a few more ££ after your quote, you’ll let us know.
Meanwhile annsixty may your days improve, little by little.
XX to all ?

Nannytopsy Mon 27-Dec-21 18:38:31

They have been, raided the cupboards for snacks ( 8 yo boys have hollow legs!), left their washing, then gone again!
Enjoy your evening! Are you watching Saints BlueSapphire?

Urmstongran Mon 27-Dec-21 18:20:35

Boxing Day Doodle? Have you been hitting that sherry bottle again?
?

Urmstongran Mon 27-Dec-21 18:19:04

‘Evening All’

A lovely quiet day had by us. We went out for a stroll mid afternoon which did us both good, nice to stretch our legs. I wore my new pink teddy coat and was toasty. Mind you, caught sight of myself in a shop window and it’s bulkiness doesn’t do anything for my shape (or lack of). I looked like a pink Pooh Bear in my leggings and boots!
?

Himself will be watching Man. Utd on SKY at 8pm. I shall find a film to watch on Netflix.

Doodle Mon 27-Dec-21 17:43:10

No need for any apologies soop. If I had to cope with half of you put up with I would be a right moaning Minnie (apologies to any Minnie’s out there who have be tagged as moaners) and you weren’t moaning anyway.
I too spent some time in the bathroom but in my case it was self inflicted over eating so no one but myself to blame. ?
annsixty hope things are ok with your DD . Not surprised some tears were shed at Christmas, it’s an emotional time.

Come on everyone, budge up, I want in on the group hug ? too . ?

We have had two lovely days with DS1 and DS2 and their families. Today we are resting (our stomachs) and reading and watching TV. Wishing you all a happy and peaceful Boxing Day x
