Happy as can be (in the circumstances)
All GOOD friends and jolly GOOD company.

Welcome. The buffet is waiting. Our retreat is warm and cosy. There will always be a comforting virtual arm around the shoulder for those who need one. flowers

Soop, where are you? Calling plaintively. I'm hoping it's just tinternet issues. I'm having a very blue-woe-is-me day so I've cleaned the windows and glass, changed the Christmas bedding to new dusky pink stuff and washed clothes. I would have (not) gone for a walk but the weather is horrible, all wet, cold and windy. I hope you are having a good day kitcheners.

Hellogirl1 Thu 06-Jan-22 15:35:14

Belated birthday wishes Kitty, sorry to be so late.
I went to an acupuncturist yesterday about my foot, she asked lots of questions about aches and pains, I ended up with needles galore sticking out of my back, arm, both legs and one foot, must have looked like a pin cushion!
Keeping all things crossed for you Anno, you do live dangerously.

Grandmabatty do you ever take photos of what you do/play with your grandson. I did with mine DGC and now they look back on them and say oh I remember doing that or making that. We spent a lot of time playing and crafting when they were young. I loved it. ?

Grandmabatty Thu 06-Jan-22 16:12:51

Doodle thanks to modern technology, I film him playing with his toys, inside and in the garden. He asks at various times for a film. He'll watch it and laugh. I send them to his mum and I have kept them all. It would be lovely if he wants to watch them when he's bigger

Great idea Grandmabatty. Mine are grown up now (we advanced teenagers) and they still talk about the things we used to do.

Good afternoon dear Kitcheners. It’s awful weather here so no walk today,I spent an hour on my exercise cycle instead. I think I overdid it yesterday as my leg gave me a sleepless night. Safe journey Dogs. Hope your day went as well as such a sad occasion can Urms and fingers crossed for a smooth journey to Malaga tomorrow. I hope soop is able to update us soon. TOYA

brook2704 Thu 06-Jan-22 17:31:53

An awful weather day here too, I’ve been out in town most of the day but pleased to be home now in front of the fire and keeping warm. I popped into see DD2 and the DGC for a quick visit, my highlight of the day.
Hope the needles were worth it hellogirl and your foot is a bit better soon
Sounds like you’ve been busy grandmabatty and hopefully your blues have scuttled off somewhere else. Like you I hope all is ok with soop and we get an update soon
I really dislike these long winter evenings with nothing much to do, roll on springtime
Well done with your exercise bike Blossoming and hope you sleep better tonight

Good evening Kitcheners it is an awfully chilly and dismal day but we don’t have the snow that many areas have.
I cannot start “dry January” until after DH’s Birthday (then we will do it for a month) and I am looking forward to a Rhubarb G&T as an aperitif this evening.
I hope soop is still enjoying a G&T in an evening and I will think of you as I slurp mine soop ?
To all feeling a bit under par - be kind to yourself. ?

‘Evening All’

Thank you for so many kind comments concerning the family funeral we attended in Oldham today. It went well and it was comforting to be there with my relatives. Tears were shed, quick hugs were given occasionally (I found it hard not to hug my uncle and cousins) but we sat at the edge of the room, used hand gel after handshakes and pre-buffet and we did turn to reminiscing with happy smiles listening to ‘old tales’ as you do.

Tomorrow is a new day. As my stepfather poignantly said this afternoon, ‘it’s part of life’. x

Grandmabatty Thu 06-Jan-22 18:30:27

Safe journey tomorrow Urms

Jaxjacky Thu 06-Jan-22 18:35:23

Cold, wet and dark early, generally yuk, so admin and washing ruled today.
Safe journey Dogs I expect it’ll be tomorrow with this weather, I hope you’ve cheered a little Grandmabatty as Urm’s stepfather said, tomorrow is another day ?.
I too assume soop has technical problems, possibly caused by the weather, hoping all is safe there.
Dinner is about to go in the oven, glass of dry white here, so cheers Tilly
Have a peaceful evening all x

Urmstongran Thu 06-Jan-22 18:40:40

Hank you Grandmabatty I’m really looking forward to going now. This weekend is 20°C in Malaga! Taxi to the airport will be booked at lunchtime so I plan to post on Mick’s in the morning.

brook2704 Thu 06-Jan-22 19:29:22

Pleased that today went as well as it could Urms and have a good trip tomorrow ?

Dogsmakemesmile Thu 06-Jan-22 19:52:14

I am home. The weather promised did not materialise. It was grim but bearable. I must say Dh did a great job in changing routes fast. Have never seen so much of the United Kingdom in one day. Wales, England, Scotland. Stunning. I went down as was asked to by staff as they were concerned regarding my mother. As things turned out , she is doing well. I so wish I could turn back the clock for her. I believe she recognised me. She screamed with joy at my arrival. My mother "lost" her mother to dementia and I am losing her now. But I am clinging on to what I can. I feel cannot succumb to grief yet. I must look for the fragments of the woman I know. Anyway I am walloped (?) by exhaustion. I thought of you.x

Dogsmakemesmile Thu 06-Jan-22 19:53:01

Apologies for errors..I feel I cannot ..

Darling you lovely lot, I am so sorry to have neglected you for what seems like an age. It has been a troubled, frustrating and sad few days for a variety of reasons and I simply could not share my "down time" with you. It isn't fair.

I understand that some of our Granspals have had tough times to deal with. My heart goes out to you all. flowers

Also, I wish a happy belated birthday to dear Kitty. smile

Mr Soop has returned from having posted a parcel of some of my precious "treasures" to our eldest granddaughter. As I was undressing the Christmas tree, I thought about what might become of my late Nana's ancient decorations that have pride of place every year. They were purchased from Woolworths long, long ago and are very different from today's baubles. Anyway, the idea came to pack them up and post them to Hannah. Then...I started to search the cupboards for other precious items that I wished her to receive. I know that she will take good care of everything. In the end, what was to have been a small package, morphed into a large carton. The postage has cost rather a lot! wink

Pittcity Fri 07-Jan-22 15:56:06

Soop you have been missed. Your cheeriness in the face of multiple tribulations is an inspiration to us all.
We are all here for you to lean on in good times and bad. There's enough love in this kitchen for everyone and loads to spare.

TillyTrotter Fri 07-Jan-22 16:15:05

Hear, hear Pittcity. ? for soop
And also for Dogsmakemesmile and her beloved mum flowers

Grannmarie Fri 07-Jan-22 16:22:26

Dear Soop, I hope your troubles and frustration and sadness are soon resolved, you are so supportive of us lot.
Sorry, I don't know how to do italicssmile.

soop Fri 07-Jan-22 16:43:46

Dogsmakemesmile For your Mum - flowers sunshine smile

The parcel containing my so-called treasures cost an eyewatering £26! Mr Soop insisted on sending it in the most secure way, even though the contents are not exactly valuable, they are irreplaceable. Fair do's.

Good news to share with you. The appointment at Ross Hall to discuss all the pros and cons of the Colostomy was confirmed this afternoon. The finance department has been short staffed during the holiday period. We feel confident that the fund, (in many respects *thanks to your support*) will be all that we shall need to go ahead and get the drop bot dealt with once and for all.

The water colour portrait was looking very promising. That is until I tiddled with it and consequently it lost it's freshness which meant only one thing...another sketch is in progress. My silly fault. hmm

My virtual hugs are being shared with you all. I am so pleased to be back with you in our kitchen. Until tomorrow. Stay safe and keep warm. smile moon
