We had a hectic day with SiL and family and both DS1 and DS2 and their families. (I should explain that we are not in Scotland, or might not have been advised to meet with so many of us together). We all did lateral flow tests this morning, so following advice from that point of view, and we bumped elbows rather than hugging. And had good ventilation! Once we had (sort of) achieved reluctant acceptance of each other from the two visiting dogs (belonging to DS1 and DS2) we had a very nice buffet lunch (my planning of the menu worked well) and then we exchanged presents with those we will not see at the weekend. My Sil did Bingo with everyone and the children all got prizes. The children and teenagers then retired to the room at the front of the house to watch a film on Netflex. They finally agreed to Nativity 2 after a lot of coertion from me. The adults then spent an hour or so slagging off talking about our MP's in all parties until the film finished and the young ones started jumping over the furniture and wrestling each other and then it was time for our local families to go home. A very enjoyable day!

Wow! I’ve just been on the Calling all Grans thread and discovered we’re nearly there. Only just £130 to go. It’s really marvellous news, so soop you’d better start packing your bag, you’re almost on your way.

I had a bit of a sad afternoon. I visited a friend of mine who’s very unwell. She’s had all the scans and X-rays, and is waiting for the biopsy, but it seems there is definitely a large lump, and the diagnosis is probably ovarian cancer.

At last we have heating and hot water restored, thank goodness. The house feels so cosy again now.

Mum’s care home is closed to visitors again. They opened up after the Covid outbreak, and I managed to visit mum once, and now they’re closed again with a sickness and diarrhoea outbreak. They won’t be open for at least another 2/3 days.

I was supposed to actually see my GP this morning about my recently diagnosed ' sky high' BP, but the receptionist asked me to come tomorrow as Doctor had to go for a test...so glad I didn't go this morning.
I've lost a post or two this week, not sure what happened, going to catch up with Kitchen news now.

Gosh Urms not surprised you’re shattered, a labour of love indeed.
Yesterday we went for a drink and nibbles with part of my family and their dog, a huge puppy, half Newfoundland, half standard poodle, huge at 5 months. Quick foray on the way to the farm shop for spuds, it was empty!
Today the library, quiet (as libraries should be!), house cleaning and general faffing. Between us yesterday most presents were wrapped, I have to wrap his, in secret and vica versa.
Have a pleasant rest of your evening all, so pleased the soop fund is so close.

I don’t know if I’m coming or going today, I went to the post office this morning and queued up for ages to send a last minute parcel and then when I got home there was a card from the post office saying they’d tried to deliver a parcel whilst I was out and could I collect it from the post office. Blummin heck so off I tootled back to the very long queue at the post office to get my parcel. It was from my DS in Switzerland though so I didn’t really mind
I managed to fit in a splash around in the pool at the gym and had two long phone calls from DD2 stressed out with too much to do too in too little time etc and a whinge about her partner who doesn’t do enough to help apparently (although I think he does loads!) I just umm and ahh and agree in the right places
I love your idea of a lunner SueD I actually quite like eating at that time, it reminds me of being on holiday with much later mealtimes. Pleased you enjoyed the panto and the shoogle too!
Let’s hope with everything crossed there’s some very good news from the secretary at the hospital soon soop

I’m too tired to do it all again and I have to be up early tomorrow for the blood clinic. Early night for me. TOYA

‘Evening All’.

Gosh I’m shattered! Round to mind the grandchildren by 8am until mama came home just after 5pm. We’ve eaten. Got a cuppa and biscuits now and I plan to be in bed by 9pm. “Mum sorry to ask as of course I quite understand if it’s too early but any chance you could be here at 7:15am in the morning?”.

Alarm will need to be set for 6:30am. ?. But it’s the last day of minding as she finishes work at her school tomorrow. Yay‼️

#smug gran has cleaned out the fridge! It’s all clean and neat, with everything organised. Until DH gets at it …

Another manic day yesterday. I drove to Perth and popped in to a friend to drop off presents and have a cup of tea. One of her DC and his family arrived while I was there, which was nice. We’d all taken LF’s!

Then onto into town to a restaurant for ‘lunner’ which is what I’ve christened a main meal eaten at 3pm - a cross of lunch and dinner! It was with my dd1 and her 4yo and was at that time because we had a panto to attend at 5pm. As we headed into the theatre GD got upset because ‘I don’t want to go to the theatre, I want to go to the panto!’ We had to explain that the panto was something that happened inside a theatre and luckily she accepted that - melt down averted!

I have to say, it was a very good panto, a modern version of Cinderella. It didn’t have usual Cinders winning the Prince story, it was instead a tale of Buttons helping her get the inheritance she should have received from her father. It was very clever, sophisticated and modern but had all the fun of traditional panto. GD loved it although she has sensory overload by the time we got home and had to go to straight to bed!

I had a wee shoogle with the baby while dd sorted things out and wrapped the last of her presents. We then swapped gifts with each other, wished each other a happy Christmas and I drove off towards home in the swirling fog. Then had a late night phone call with ds2 about his panto outing with his dc and their house purchase struggles. They’ve sold theirs but the new one has fallen through.
