Here we are again
Happy as can be (in the circumstances)
All GOOD friends and jolly GOOD company.

Welcome. The buffet is waiting. Our retreat is warm and cosy. There will always be a comforting virtual arm around the shoulder for those who need one. flowers

Grannmarie Fri 14-Jan-22 08:12:57

Thank you for the flowers, Tilly, much appreciated.
Great news, Soop, things are certainly moving along now!
So sorry to hear about Charlie, Nannytopsy. flowersHe had a long and happy life with you.

TillyTrotter Fri 14-Jan-22 07:48:15

Charlie cat is beautiful Nannytopsy . I feel so sad for you losing your lovely companion after 17 years.
Grandmabatty I truly hope you get better soon. I re-read my post yesterday and I am sorry it sounded flippant and insensitive when you are suffering and feeling so poorly. ?

I peeked outside and it is even frostier and even foggier than yesterday. Bbrrrrrr.
Wishing some sunshine for us all later. X

Kalu Fri 14-Jan-22 01:56:46

Good luck for your appointment on Monday Soop. A date for your surgery may well be discussed too!

SueDonim Thu 13-Jan-22 23:16:35

I’m so sorry, Nannytopsy. It hurts so much to lose a pet. sad flowers

brook2704 Thu 13-Jan-22 22:46:52

Awww so sorry to hear about Charlie nannytopsy ? sending hugs

Nannytopsy Thu 13-Jan-22 22:29:46

Good news soop - nearly there!
Charlie Cat made his final journey tonight. He has deteriorated over the last week but was content but tonight he had another turn. Our lovely boy had been with us for nearly 18 years.

muse Thu 13-Jan-22 21:01:03

That's is such a big hurdle you've got over soop. Looking forward to hearing the news you will receive on Monday.

NanaandGrampy What a suprising present and hope that awning goes up easily for Grampy ??

Hope you improve soon Grandmabatty. ?

The kitchen is certainly warmer than our bedroom annex TillyTrotter ?. Having no bathroom in the cottage, we use the ensuite in the annex for all our ablutions. I went across this morning for a little contemplation and a shower. The annex was as cold as it was outside❄️. Boiler was silent! I let MrM have his usual fiddle look at it and he shook his head. I have to give a huge, massive thank you to Baxi. An engineer will be with us tomorrow. 5th of our 7 year warranty so no bill.

Take care all Kitcheners.

SueDonim Thu 13-Jan-22 20:41:17

That’s such good news, Soop!

Labyrinthitis is truly awful, it put me in hospital twice about ten years ago. You have my sympathy, Grandmabatty. flowers

I seem to have had a busy but fruitless day today. Have done various things, spoken to various people but not actually achieved anything useful. Baffling. confused

Oh well, tomorrow is another day! Sweet dreams! Xx

Aldom Thu 13-Jan-22 20:30:30

Such good news Soop. I hope it won't be too long until you are telling us how well you are feeling post surgery.

Grandmajean Thu 13-Jan-22 20:26:42

So pleased to hear your newsSoop

Jaxjacky Thu 13-Jan-22 19:01:32

Labyrinthitis is horrible Grandmabatty I had it four years ago, unfortunately it briefly returned Christmas of that year, just for a couple of days though, my GP diagnosed it.
Marvellous news soop, that’s made my evening.?

Urmstongran Thu 13-Jan-22 18:44:45

‘Evening All’

Im about to get ready to meet friends in an hour. (We are an hour ahead here and are meeting them at 9pm). Bit late for my tastes but I must say I’m hungry now. I fancy rosada a la plancha (white fish with garlic). It’s chilly out so I shall wrap up warmly!

brook2704 Thu 13-Jan-22 18:07:43

Oooh nanaandgrampy that Spa sounds rather delightful ….. hopefully grampy is less stressed now too! When are you having the inaugural dip? You lucky lady!
Labyrinthitis is awful grandmabatty you have my sympathy and I hope it settles down soon, take care. Thanks so much for the apple muffins they just hit the spot ?

brook2704 Thu 13-Jan-22 17:57:53

That’s really great news soop so very pleased for you ?

soop Thu 13-Jan-22 17:33:35

Good afternoon my darlings.
Good news to share with you all. Letter from Ross Hall delivered as we were leaving home this morning.
THANKS to the many generous and thoughtful contributions to you know what, we have sufficient funds to cover the surgery and immediate after-care costs. Should I have an extended stay in HDU that will cost extra. We also feel that we can meet those unforeseen costs, providing I do not "dilly dally"/languish in luxury for too long. wink
The appointment with the surgeon is on Monday. After which, we shall have more facts and figures.
Today we helped our pals as they needed to leave their car in Campbeltown for a service. We were treated to a lovely lunch at a hotel we used to visit every Friday after supermarket shopping. The last visit was almost two years ago.hmm

Maw Your Rosie appears to be greatly stressed. I hadn't realised that she has a brindle coat. She's very "with it" and her bed must be the envy of all her four-legged pals.

Grandmabatty Labrinthitis is, I've been told, a horrible, discombobulating affliction. Stay at home and keep well warm.

No need to prepare a meal for later. The haddock and chips and calorie rich pudding are still in the process of being digested. I have lost a little weight. Nothing to crow about but hey ho, it's a start.

Night night for now, dear Kitcheners. Until we meet again TOYA smile moon

BladeAnnie Thu 13-Jan-22 17:15:24

Good afternoon dear kitcheners. A busy day for me today - hospital appointment this morning, home and immediately on the work laptop to sort out a problem I came across late yesterday then off to see DD1 and DGC. Tomorrow will be a day of rest ?? TOYA

NanaandGrampy Thu 13-Jan-22 17:14:32

Evening all,

I am way out of touch so later this evening will have a read back and see al I have missed.

Sorry to see some people have been feeling poorly , I know that feeling - so hope you all feel better soon.

I have had a stressful day! Grampy bought me a spa for our anniversary and today was assembly day. Well!! Light blue touch paper and retire !! There was much stamping and growling going on. I stayed out of it until I asked that time old question ' Did you read the instructions' !!

I had to run for my life, Sam overtook me on the home straight and we hid in the kitchen while 'Shrek' stomped round. Apparently, he read 'some' of them !!!

I rest my case M'lud!

Anyway, the darn thing is up and warming up....i dare not mention when is he going to attempt the awning that goes with it :-) , I'll leave that for another day !

xx

Jaxjacky Thu 13-Jan-22 16:55:24

Thank you Tilly they’re recovering, that’s youngsters for you, sun here today, very cheering and it’s just getting dark now, sorry for your fog, we’ve had days and days of grey though.
Hair coloured, gosh it was cold in the en suite, I had that window open as well as the bedroom one for fumes, I think they smell worse than they are. Dropped cold/flu stuff to covid cave, sorted out lifts requested from phone line yesterday and there’s a chilli bubbling away.
Enjoy your evening all.x

TillyTrotter Thu 13-Jan-22 16:28:05

Good afternoon to the kitchen, is it warm in here? If so I might stay. I have been washing this morning but it has to be dried indoors as it is so foggy. Just as the days were lengthening too.
I have the lights on in the sitting room this afternoon.

Grandmabatty my mum had a saying for anyone out-of-sorts as you have been “you need putting in a bag and shaking up”. In the nicest way of course. She simply meant it would ‘put you right’. I will send you ?
Your apple muffins ? will not last long here Batty - thank you, I’ll enjoy one with a cup of peppermint tea.

Granmarie Jaxjacky , Blossoming and soop you deserve some better luck and so flowers for you too flowers
TOYA

Grannmarie Thu 13-Jan-22 13:46:31

Thank you, Grandmabatty, I hope you feel better soon too. It's a good sign that you're baking, I will enjoy an apple muffin, thank you, when I return from my wee walk.
I can't keep delaying it. Our meet up time of 1 has been moved to 2, I must extricate myself from GN and put my boots on!
TOYA.

Grandmabatty Thu 13-Jan-22 13:40:14

Good afternoon kitcheners. Soop I think you are having a more than difficult time and are keeping it to yourself ? Grannmarie fingers crossed that your medication kicks in soon. Maw you have such a beautiful dog, I'm quite jealous. This virus I have is the gift that keeps on giving. I've developed labrinthitis, I think. Almost completely deaf in one ear and now I feel very dizzy and unbalanced when I move around or stand up. It's nothing compared to what some of you have to put up with, but it's very annoying.
I'm making apple muffins this afternoon so I'll leave some in the kitchen. I might make chocolate chip cookies too. Have a good day all.

Grannmarie Thu 13-Jan-22 12:12:56

I don't understand why those symbols appear, I only clicked on three walkers ??

Grannmarie Thu 13-Jan-22 12:10:56

Good afternoon, dear Soop and lovely Kitchen people!
Thank you, Jaxjacky and Doodle, I'm hoping and praying that all this medication will soon restore 'normal service ', I do miss feeling normal.
I hope your Dson and GF recover quickly and fully, Jax.
Blossoming, enjoy your day out,I'm sure it will do you a power of good.
Rosie looks very contented, Maw.
I'm meeting my sisters soon for a gentle park walk, it's cloudy but dry and mild .?‍♀️?‍♂️?
Wishing you all the best Thursday possible.

Charleygirl5 Thu 13-Jan-22 11:01:10

Maw Rosie knows how to spread herself out because there is not enough space on her bed for me also. My bed would be fine for both of us.

Having switched me off in my prime, Plusnet apparently has kept me informed of their actions online. How they expected me to read is beyond me and I have written to them asking that question!

A tenner will come off my next bill-also I will not be charged for the £6.99 router postage. Please do not be too envious, I will be very careful where I spend the money.

Doodle Wed 12-Jan-22 23:38:39

Not been in the kitchen for a few days and was reading back over the thread thinking to myself, what lot of new posters we have …..then I realised I was reading the wrong thread blush

Been a bit busy here with this and that so can’t catch up with everyone just saying hello ? to all. Blossoming sorry you’re results have knocked you back a bit. Hope things improve soon.
Muse good news the build is progressing well. Lovely happy macaroons. My DIL would eat the lot.
Granmarie hope the new meds help.
Glad you’ve been re-routed Charleygirl ?
Maw Rosie looks so cosy on her fluffy dog bed,
Soop you just look after yourself and take it easy please.
TOYA ?
