Happy as can be (in the circumstances)
All GOOD friends and jolly GOOD company.

Welcome. The buffet is waiting. Our retreat is warm and cosy. There will always be a comforting virtual arm around the shoulder for those who need one. flowers

Productive day here, I’m amazed grin. Curry was put in the slow cooker, grocery order was received on time in spite of the dense fog outside. The cleaning was accomplished before I took a deep breath and tackled an important password change so we can access some funds. Then it was on to a letter asking advice from a specialist physio who kindly offered me an open appointment. He may live to regret that. hmm. All before lunch!

This afternoon with a clear sky and no wind we wandered the beach before sitting with a cuppa looking out at the sea. Back home a long phone chat with a friend before curry was consumed. In between two calls from our elder son who is job hunting. Goodness, I’ve been doing little or nothing since Christmas and am in shock.

Early start tomorrow as Mr C has an eye test before the streets will be aired. Not sure then, there’s admin waiting which I shouldn’t ignore. May well though grin.

Pleased it was an IT glitch and not a health glitch charley, good to have you back.

Hope you’re better soon grandmabatty, best to let the cold take its time, the wretched things won’t be rushed.

Time for sleep here. Sleep well everyone. TOYA.

Tilly your amaryllis in a hurricane vase is an inspired idea! Why have I never thought of that? Also, why had I just taken two hurricane vases to the charity shop yesterday afternoon and then came home and saw your photo? ? I’ll have to go and buy them back!

Welcome back, Charliegirl. Aren’t these things just the most annoying annoyances? Glad you’re fixed for now.

I hope your non-covid germ disappears soon, Grandmabatty.

I’m sorry you had unpleasant health news, Blossoming. flowers

Maw I love your doggy - she’s splendidly spotty! I’m also glad to see that my cat isn’t the only pet with his own toy basket. blush

Yesterday I did more book-culling and now have two more full boxes to give away. I also keep finding more dvds, I don’t think there’s a cupboard or a drawer that doesn’t have a movie stashed in it.

No decluttering today, I’ve been doing some life admin and then met a friend for coffee and a post-Christmas catch up. It was just us and one other table in quite a big cafe. Was it something we said? ?

The person who does our regular covid research tests came today and took swabs so that was fun. Not. They seem to have made the swabs bigger, I swear you could sweep a chimney with them. hmm

A quiet evening on the cards (is there any other type?) and I wish you all a peaceful night. Xxx

Just popping in to say hello and welcome back Charleygirl ?. Duncan is most perturbed '- Mr BA is replacing the kitchen flooring so His Lordships bowls are in the back hall. Very convenient for his basket in the bathroom but that's where they go when small people visit.....??

brook2704 Wed 12-Jan-22 19:49:46

Nothing wrong with a PJ day grandmabatty and I hope you feel better soon
Today I’ve been splashing around at the Aqua class at the gym and then sitting with a friend for most of the afternoon in Costa having a good old catch up. Then a bit of shopping and home for tea - no curry for us tonight but fish with roasted veg and red cabbage -yummy
Lovely picture maw Rosie or Rosy looks soooo comfortable in her soft little bed!
Enjoy your trip out to Wensleydale Blossoming
It’s been quite mild here today, about 10 degrees but very windy so that took the edge off the warmer weather but I did hang some washing out, very well pegged on and it got a good blowing
Hoping your DS and his GF are better soon Jaxj and good to see you back charley

MayBeMaw Wed 12-Jan-22 19:35:10

It must be national curry day!
I had an “easy cook”, chicken curry from Waitrose. They suggested cooking it in coconut milk but have you seen the calories in coconut milk? No way! A dollop of fat free yogurt on the top instead.
That might compensate for the TWO custard tarts I had for pudding blushblush
It’s been bitterly cold here today but bright and sunny with another flaming sunset sky. Infinitely preferable to the non-stop rain we seem to have had since before Christmas. Good to see Charleygirl back, Rosie has missed you
I may have to rename her Rosy with that pink tummy- I do wish she had more fur , if only to add a little warmth!

Good evening lovely Kitcheners, I have slept for quite a lot of the afternoon. I managed to deal with some paperwork and made a few phone calls earlier and did some laundry, but have really struggled to keep my eyes open. Mr. B has promised to take me away from all this tomorrow with a trip to Wensleydale. TOYA

‘Evening All’

We’ve had a quiet ‘twosome’ day today following yesterday’s socialising. The sun came out from noon so we went out for a good long stroll along the paseo for a couple of hours. The sea was busy with waves building and crashing to the shore. It’s usually like a millpond. Most of the shops, bars and hotels are shut. It’s very quiet over here. Hardly any visitors about really.

? Charleygirl you were missed.

Jaxjacky Wed 12-Jan-22 19:10:50

Hurray, Charleygirl is back.
Hope the new bp medicine sorts the problem Grannmarie, tiresome!
A busy day on the voluntary phone, son not feeling too bad with his Covid, GF a lot rougher, sleeping a lot, ? both ok soon.
A cold night looming, thank goodness for central heating, I can remember as a child in Scotland not having it.
Enjoy your evening those who can x

Grannmarie Wed 12-Jan-22 19:09:36

Charleygirl, Hello! ?

Grandmabatty, a big mug of toddy is prescribed...purely medicinal!!

Grannmarie Wed 12-Jan-22 19:06:57

Thank you, Marydoll. I hope your appointment went well too.

Grandmabatty Wed 12-Jan-22 17:56:06

Welcome back Charleygirl. You were missed. I have had a jammies day today and I don't care! I've been coughing like one of the Brontës*, and there's been a tsunami of snot which usually hits about three in the morning so today I retired to bed like Elizabeth Barret Browning. I'm up now and about to heat up beef casserole with dumplings and the remains of apple crumble. I might even have a can of cider. Have a good evening Kitcheners.

soop Wed 12-Jan-22 17:41:37

Dear you lovely lot, I've a confession hmm, I have spent the entire afternoon glued to the snooker between Trump and Alan. Naughty, I know. However, it was a cliff-hanger and I so wanted Mark to win but ultimately it wasn't to be.

Tomorrow morning we are helping pals out as their car is being serviced. This means that I shall be late popping into our kitchen. Please accept my apologies. My absence doesn't mean that I have lost interest in the happenings of my Granspals. I believe that you know that I do care. I send my love to you all. Especially those of you with health troubles to deal with.

I must hasten to the kitchen. I have stuff to attend to. A good housewife would not be needing to feel guilty. I blame my convent upbringing. wink

smile moon

Marydoll Wed 12-Jan-22 17:39:08

Glad to see you back. Miss Charleygirl. Youf pals were worried by your absence and no contact. GranMarie, fingers crossed the new meds help.

TillyTrotter Wed 12-Jan-22 17:38:44

Great to see you are back in communication with us all Charley. ?
Take a seat by the fire and I will pour you a coffee - you’ve had a frustrating few days. ☕️

Charleygirl5 Wed 12-Jan-22 17:34:42

Thanks to tanith for letting you know I was okay. Last Thursday Plusnet decided I need a new router, the fellow told nobody, switched me off in my prime and did not bother to send a new one.
To cut a long story short I picked it up today- the postman did not bother to ring my doorbell yesterday. My friend and neighbour put it all together for me but he is coming back on Saturday because Alexa has defeated him. At least I have email access but it will take me a day or two to read through all the threads.

Good evening, Soop and all lovely Kitchen people ❤

Thanks, Dogs, my appointment went well this morning. My lovely GP, all masked and PPE'd, met me promptly at the surgery door. She is always very pleasant and professional, although she is short staffed as both Practice Nurses are off with Covid.
My kind childhood friend drove me to the surgery, later we had lunch at the garden centre, with a good catch up blether, then we picked up my new prescription on the way home. It's another tablet to add to my HBP medication ?, I've to return in a fortnight, I hope it stabilises things soon!

Hoping everyone has had the best Wednesday possible, TOYA, take care.

Dogsmakemesmile Wed 12-Jan-22 09:29:03

Morning everyone. Lovely breezy and warmish (10-12 degrees apparently) here. Two washes out. Soup made and bread too. Will copy Jaxjacky and make a curry for tea. Off out soon to buy pair of boots. Think the sale is still on so may get a bargain.
Admin and tidying day.
Hope Granmarie and Blossoming have as good a day as possible. Muse your plans sound very exciting. I am going to track down a decorator today for various rooms...TOYA

Grandmabatty Tue 11-Jan-22 21:14:05

Sounds like a good evening was had, Urms. Enjoy your cuppa. I've retreated to bed. Night night kitcheners.

Urmstongran Tue 11-Jan-22 20:51:50

‘Evening All’.

I’ve had a lovely day. A hair wash ‘n’ blow at the salon downstairs then an afternoon at Ladies Who Wine. There were five of us this session. This month it’s been 7 years our little group has been meeting every week. Time certainly flies when you’re having fun.

We 3 ladies from here then joined the men in Pedro’s corner bar as you do.... 5 of us ate a good meal this evening with drinks and coffee. I took this photo as our table was being set by Nelly (Argentinian, great cook) for dinner. I ❤️ spontaneous get-togethers - they’re often the best aren’t they?

Came back up here at 9pm. Kettle’s on now.

Grannmarie Tue 11-Jan-22 19:57:02

Thank you, Jaxjacky. Enjoy your curry! ?
Wishing all you lovely Kitchen people an early NNGB.

Jaxjacky Tue 11-Jan-22 19:17:12

Good luck tomorrow Grannmarie.
My son rang early today, he and his GF +ve, fortunately haven’t seen them for 8 days, tested anyway, all good. Then another call at 4:30, supplies needed, battled rush hour, international Mum rescue.
Did two drives today, grey and drizzle all day, hopefully a glimpse of sun tomorrow, which is my day on the voluntary phone.
Anytime Blossoming we’re always here.
Dinner, chicken and spinach curry and I have a cream top on, a bin bag may be required.
Enjoy your evening all x

muse Tue 11-Jan-22 18:32:35

Hello Blossoming . Daren't offer you my Wonder Women knickers are they are rather large. I can offer a shoulder and an arm though. After 20 years of on and off worries with kidney problems you have my sympathies.

Thank you for the photo Urms. It has me hoping that the new fews days will be the promised blue skies I've been told are on their way. Very cold tonight. I'm making paella so will imagine myself somewhere warm as we eat. The log burner needs to show a little more promise than it is currently doing.

Today, we received an image from the kitchen company of one of the ideas for our open plan living, dining and kitchen area. ?MrM said "Hmm". He was hoping for a more realistic image. I think he's hankering after wearing one of those virtual headsets.

Thinking of all those struggling.

Dogsmakemesmile Tue 11-Jan-22 17:59:22

So sorry Blossoming. Look after yourself.
Spent the day with my soon to be two Dgd. I shall call her The Squidge from now on as she is completely adorable with a will of iron. Like mummy, like auntie. Tomorrow I can have a lie in (til Ddog awakes and DH takes him out) and nothing planned til Friday pm. Working and taking a bus to get there. All unknown but while I will take every precaution Covid wise , I have realised I have lost a lot of confidence and need to do more. Thinking of you all. My brain/memory poor with lack of sleep and stress so tend not name people .Sending therefore a collective hug. Thank you for being there.

Grannmarie Tue 11-Jan-22 17:19:27

Thank you, Brook.?

Aww, Blossoming, fingers crossed ? that this can be dealt with promptly.flowers

Blossoming Tue 11-Jan-22 16:48:30

Thank you all for your kindness. It’s not a new condition but it has been stable, unfortunately there has been a significant change in the space of 2 months. I shall done the ‘Wonder Woman’ sparkly knickers tomorrow, but tonight I’m hibernating.
