Lewis Hamilton and his Mum

Lovely to see Lewis Hamilton knighted, he is a young man who has achieved so much. Great to see he took his mum to the ceremony I’m sure she was super proud. She’s dressed to head to toe in Chanel, I like the outfit apart from the frilly blouse, but maybe that’s just me. Anyone else agree?

This thread is a depressing example of the way in which women are their own worst enemies.

From the “slums” of Stevenage to the Palace. Mum must have felt she looked good in this outfit and with the impressive Chanel name. Sadly IMO she didn’t but does it really matter?

You seem nice.

It happens all the time on GN. Boris, Meghan …. I will say what I want about ‘a stranger’ within the bounds of the law of defamation.

Beswitched Sat 18-Dec-21 08:40:58

Maybe best to keep your thoughts on a stranger's appearance to yourself rather than posting them on a public forum for all to see Germanshepherdmum.

Lewis Hamiltons mother is a person with feelings, and this is a public space.

Don’t be ridiculous Beswitched. My comments are not addressed to you or anyone else. She’s dumpy. A lot of us are. If she wasn’t able to lose weight for the occasion, as I and I’m sure many of us have done for a special occasion, then with the sort of budget her son gave her she could have looked a great deal better. I have never been able to buy Chanel clothes but I do know how to make the best I can of what nature’s given me on the budget I have. And I don’t think the outfit was correct for the occasion. My thoughts entirely and if anyone wants to feel insulted on her behalf feel free.

Dumpy and mummy was one comment.

Ok so I’m childish. That’s not unpleasant …..

Beswitched Fri 17-Dec-21 21:50:08

You've ignored dumpy and mumsy. Also justifying unpleasant comments with "well people comment on Meghan..." is a bit childish.

Lucca Fri 17-Dec-21 21:41:20

OTT.”extraordinarily unpleasant”

Some of us have said we are not that keen on the outfit , hardly a crime, meanwhile everyone has said how proud she must be etc etc.

Funny when poster comment on Meghan’s attire it’s fair game…..

Chardy Fri 17-Dec-21 21:07:53

Some extraordinarily unpleasant posts here

We can’t always do a lot about the raw materials but we can always do our best to present them to best effect, whether our budget is M&S or, as here, Chanel and Dior. I make no apology for voicing my opinion that she looked dumpy, mumsy and about to burst at the seams.

Well you should apologise. She did not ask or seek your public opinion on her outfit, and does not deserve to be described in such an unpleasant and nasty tone.

Niobe Fri 17-Dec-21 20:06:31

This lady is of an age to be a member on Gransnet or have friends who are. Just remember that when you post some of your comments.
I am disgusted by some of the comments on this thread about someone who is not a public figure just a proud mum whose son did her the honour of asking her to accompany him on an important day in his life.

Josianne

If Lewis's mum liked it, that's great.

Quite smile

Now I know how critical some GN’ ers are about their own fair sex, neither would I …………. unless I looked like Chanel in
Josianne ‘s picture ?
Surely feeling good is just as important as looking good? Lewis’s mum would have been very happy with what she saw in the mirror on that Special Day - and so she should.
I wouldn’t want anybody else “dressing” me to look elegant Germanshepherdsmum ;
I am how I am. (Some would say dumpy - I definitely have short legs).

Lucca Fri 17-Dec-21 12:56:52

I would never post a photo of myself on an open forum.

Germanshepherdsmum Fri 17-Dec-21 12:20:31

Given the money the outfit must have cost, I could have come up with something that made her look more elegant and much less dumpy. The jacket looks too tight and wearing the same colour (better fitting) jacket and trousers, if she had to wear trousers rather than a dress, would have made her look much better.

Deedaa Fri 17-Dec-21 12:10:42

Well I thought she looked very stylish and just right for the occasion. I can't wear a blouse like that myself but she does it beautifully.

Still rather doubtful how spending your life doing something you love while earning millions is really worth a knighthood. He wasn't even driving for a British team.

vegansrock Fri 17-Dec-21 12:00:06

I would be happy to post a pic of myself at an occasion and you can say you don’t like a minor aspect of may outfit. I wouldn’t be offended.

Lucca Fri 17-Dec-21 10:07:27

lemsip

It's a lovely photo of a mother and son!

don't pick holes in someones dress unless you provide a photo of self at some occasion is my advice.

Goodness me how holier than thou….

vegansrock Fri 17-Dec-21 09:42:52

MOnica all I said was I didn’t like the frilly blouse but that was just my opinion , which I am entitled to. It was no slur on the lovely lady or her fabulous son of whom she is rightfully proud. Honestly some people take offence at an honest opinion which was just a shallow style comment.

FannyCornforth Fri 17-Dec-21 08:56:42

grin I’d forgotten about love bites! What an odd thing! I remember that you were advised to put toothpaste on them

Josianne Fri 17-Dec-21 08:54:10

FannyCornforth

I’m not a fan of a ruff, but they must hide a multitude of jowl and neck related sins!

Mine hid love bites so my mum didn't see in the late 70s!

M0nica Fri 17-Dec-21 08:53:04

Just reread the OP and she commented adversely on the frilly blouse!
