Lovely to see Lewis Hamilton knighted, he is a young man who has achieved so much. Great to see he took his mum to the ceremony I’m sure she was super proud. She’s dressed to head to toe in Chanel, I like the outfit apart from the frilly blouse, but maybe that’s just me. Anyone else agree?

I hope shes not on GN - what if one of our lovely darlings received such an award - and ended up on TV for 5 minutes?

Maybe all of them to be on the safe side.

Yes, Jane apparently you have to be "fluffy" in News.
So does that mean we should wear .... fuzzy, fleecy, flimsy, floaty, feathery or furry when posting? The mind boggles. grin

Germanshepherdsmum Sat 18-Dec-21 17:23:41

It’s the chat threads you have to dress up for Jane ?

JaneJudge Sat 18-Dec-21 17:17:54

I always feel I look better in news than I do in politics but I always try to lose weight before I open the news section

Galaxy Sat 18-Dec-21 13:01:41

And I know it should be separate before anyone starts grin

Galaxy Sat 18-Dec-21 13:00:10

I can see why people campaigned to seperate news and politics, the lighter subjects are so much more pleasant hmm

This thread is a depressing example of the way in which women are their own worst enemies.

This x 1,000,000. Why do women derive such pleasure from criticising other women?

Germanshepherdsmum Sat 18-Dec-21 12:56:37

Don’t bother to read them then.

No. Statement of my opinion. Most mothers of a multi millionaire son with a huge clothing budget, beyond the wildest dreams of most of us, would be able to look quite something. She’s the image of our (extremely nice) local checkout lady but with posh clothes on. Maybe like her son, what matters is the label …

Your comments really are very unpleasant.

Germanshepherdsmum Sat 18-Dec-21 12:55:31

I agree Alegrias and it’s one of the reasons I don’t support him. I have only been to Stevenage once, very briefly, years ago so can’t voice an opinion but I expect that like most towns it has good and not so good bits. A six bedroom slum house sounds a tad unlikely to me.

FannyCornforth Sat 18-Dec-21 12:50:50

Goodness knows what he’d think of me, Dudley ex-pat in my two bed semi envy

I've only ever been through Stevenage on the train, so no idea what it's like. But if someone who couldn't wait to leave decided to refer to his mum's six bedroom house as a slum, I'd not think much of them, TBH.

You can take the girl out of Stevenage (and I have no quarrel with that town unlike LH) but .... Wow! Snobbery or what?!

JaneJudge Sat 18-Dec-21 11:47:29

Speaking about her break-up with Anthony, Carmen once revealed: "Lewis was the best thing to come out of my marriage. [The split] didn’t damage Lewis

"He is probably better for it than if we had stuck together in an unhappy marriage

"Tony wanted to be somebody and he has achieved that. I wanted the quiet life and that put a barrier between us. I couldn’t see myself in that busy, hectic lifestyle

"But I didn’t stop him making sure Lewis got what he wanted. Without his dad’s constant, constant work he would not have been able to continue."

She always just seems so nice and dignified. It's a shame people have to be so spiteful

The house had 6 bedrooms and was not a slum as Hamilton said. This put the locals backs up.

Germanshepherdsmum Sat 18-Dec-21 10:10:23

LH was brought up there and called it 'the slums' Alegrias, much to the annoyance of the locals.

MissAdventure Sat 18-Dec-21 10:09:55

Or perhaps she'll look at the photo, shrug her shoulders, and not give a shit. smile

JaneJudge Sat 18-Dec-21 10:06:48

I think there is some Hertfordshire snobbery going on here, which is all par for the course ime

Alegrias1 Sat 18-Dec-21 09:58:59

I suppose it might if you were a royalist who thinks that kind of thing is important.

What is it with Stevenage? grin

Germanshepherdsmum Sat 18-Dec-21 09:57:09

I imagine that attending your son's investiture would trump any other special occasion, and photos would be guaranteed to go round the world and be displayed at home for many years. Maybe she will look at the photo and reflect that it didn't look as good as she thought. Maybe she'll think she looks wonderful. If it were my son I would make the biggest effort known to man for his sake, as I did for my son's wedding, and the photos we've seen prove that just throwing loadsa money at an outfit isn't the way to go. You can take the girl out of Stevenage (and I have no quarrel with that town unlike LH) but ...

Beswitched Sat 18-Dec-21 09:54:42

She looks nice in both photographs. That dress obviously wouldn't have been suitable for Buckingham Palace and her trouser jacket ensemble wouldn't have been suitable for a red carpet event.

Josianne Sat 18-Dec-21 09:40:01

2016
A different occasion, a different outfit, a different hairstyle, but underneath it all a proud mum and son.

Alegrias1 Sat 18-Dec-21 09:34:34

There seems to be an assumption here that for Lewis's mum this was a special occasion beyond anything she's ever experienced before so she should have lost weight and smartened herself up a bit. As the mother of a multi-millionaire F1 driver I don't expect its the first time she's worn Chanel and I don't expect she's spent the last few months worrying about whether some randoms on the internet think she's carrying a few extra pounds. grin
