Good morning everyone from a grey and overcast Northampton, 9°C today. No need to go out as I had a delivery yesterday and got the other stuff I needed earlier in the week.

Tried to wrap the DDogs' Christmas presents yesterday but the rustle of wrapping paper woke the cats and I had to give up before one of them ended wrapped up as well! Will try again today.

A large curry to make for the slow cooker at some time and will be freezing the left over portions. Was disappointed with my last curry so hope this one turns out better. Friday night was always curry night for DH and me throughout our 46 years of marriage, and somehow can't get out of the habit! To have something else on a Friday just seems wrong.

Excitement today for those expecting visitors! Hoping you have a wonderful time with your loved ones.

Thinking of those who have had sad news.

And everyone, take care and stay safe.

What a beautiful picture, Aly!

Alygran Fri 17-Dec-21 08:44:25

Good morning from North Yorkshire. The sun has just popped over the horizon.
Wishing everyone a good day.

Anniebach Fri 17-Dec-21 08:41:00

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

MayBeMaw Fri 17-Dec-21 08:37:56

Good morning all from N Bucks where it looks as if it might be quite a nice day.
Yesterdays PCR was negative as I had sort of expected but it made me realise that being in a public venue or on public transport for any length of time risks getting you “pinged”. I had just heaved a sigh of relief when D2 texted to say she had just been pinged too. Again I suspect a theatre as her latest play opened a week ago and as designer she is contractually obliged to be at performances up until Press (Opening) Night. Fingers crossed though.
Keep well everybody!

Good morning Mick, morning all from full and cloudy South Lanarkshire.

I haven’t read the thread yet as sleep escaped me last night until 5am when I drifted off. I’ve just woken up with a start and will now be running at the coo’s tail trying to get to the shop on time.

Will catch up later. Have a peaceful day everyone. ??

ginny Fri 17-Dec-21 08:31:18

Good morning. We still have a red sun rising here in N. Bucks. Is that good or not ?

Lots of jobs to do today so will be busy .

So pleased for those who will be seeing loved ones for the first time in a long time. Sad for those who can’t and all who have worries and troubles. Hope the day brings a at least a small smile.

BlueBalou Fri 17-Dec-21 08:17:29

Good morning everyone from a dull start in Wiltshire.
Yesterday was spent cleaning up the mess from DH emptying the attic, I honestly think I have never seen so much dust. DDog and I enjoyed a walk with my lovely neighbour and their little dog, Annie towers over her!
Today yet more cleaning then I’m sitting down to try and finish a baby cardigan for my great niece and finish knitting a matching little beanie hat.
My thoughts are with all of those finding things hard ?

cornergran Fri 17-Dec-21 08:10:11

Morning Mick, or Morning All. Another cloudy, dry start to our corner of Somerset.

Good day yesterday, a long chat with our friend and a relaxing catch up with our son. Couldn’t have been better. Mr C is determined to return the car to its rightful colour this morning, mixed shades of mud at the moment. A little admin and a lot of tidying for me before a speedy top up shop and a phone chat with our friend from over the bridge.

I’m pleased you enjoyed West Side Story mick. Eight in a cinema sounds more than ok. Sad news for you ash, I’m pleased your husband is with you. An exciting reunion to look forward to grandMattie. Good luck with the hair cut urms. Enjoy your freedom day brook, there is much sunshine envy here pantglas, a rarity in these parts.

Take care everyone. Special thoughts for those with heavy hearts. Hope Friday is gentle with us all

Grandmajean Fri 17-Dec-21 08:06:50

Good morning all from Cheshire.
Yours was the last post before this Ashcombe so I want to say how sorry I am to hear about your friend. It was the funeral yesterday of a friend and ex colleague. Dithered about attending but got round it by going to the crematorium and remaining outside . Sad to lose good friends. Try to remember the happy times.
Hope your DH's scan brings good news gagagran
Enjoy, GrandMattie
Nannagarra - many happy memories of Infant Nativities. They really make Christmas special.
Lots of busy bees this morning. Wishing you all some flamingos. None on my phone !

Marydoll Fri 17-Dec-21 08:05:39

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where it’s 7°.

GM, lovely to hear your son is on his way home. I'm sure lots of both sad and happy tears will be shed.
GrandmaSue, I hope you are having a wonderful time with your family. I’m sure you thought this day would never happen!

Ashcome, we too received a similar letter from a friend a few weeks ago. He didn't want us to read the sad news in a Christmas card, that his wife and DH's former colleague, had died.
DH had employed both as YTS applicants in the local authority over forty years ago and the two employees fell in love and married. DH had such a soft spot for her and was so upset.

It’s been a difficult week. Both DS1 and DIL have now tested positive for Covid and DS, who is asthmatic, isn’t too well. We are terrified that Dollie, who is CEV, like me catches it. Christmas is now officially cancelled. ?
I cannot believe that we have tried so hard to safe over the last two years and now this. Omicron is running riot here.

DH and I did PCRs, just to be on the safe side, as we saw DS1 on Saturday, if only briefly. Mine has come back negative last night, but DH's hasn't come back at all. I'm now very concerned!

DD has been on the phone constantly, checking on us and making sure I am not out and about, especially after the latest concerns about my health.
To be frank, I have neither the energy, nor inclination.
She has threatened us with disciplinary procedures, if we don’t toe the line!!! I think her new managerial role has gone to her head! ?

Mr Doll and I provided great entertainment for our neighbours yesterday, while we were putting up the outside Christmas lights. There were offers of the names of divorce lawyers and much laughter, as DH was doing his usuaI, ignoring SENSIBLE instructions.
The final straw was when the Ebay Queen came across to offer advice. grin DH’s face was a picture. He just pretended to be deaf, no need to pretend, he is deaf!
Unfortunately our security camera caught all my mutterings gesticulations and facial expressions!! blush

It was all for Dollie’s benefit, now she won’t get to see them.?

Gaga, I hope all goes well for your DH today and for anyone one else with worries, wishing you the strength and peace of mind to get through today.
Barmeyoldbat, I hope you manage to see your family. ?
By the time this posts, I will probably have missed someone, I will come back and read later.

For all those meeting friends and family today, enjoy!

Pittcity Fri 17-Dec-21 07:54:17

Good morning from foggy Colchester. The temperature is back in single figures today.
Christmas haircut this morning and a pootle around the shops.
DH is out this evening so DS and I will have a takeaway.
Love to all and an extra hug for Ashcombe ?x

Ashcombe Fri 17-Dec-21 07:28:29

Good morning, all from a dry and mild Torbay, yet again.

It’s lovely to read about the Nativity plays taking place and the delight of the unexpected with little ones performing. Enjoy these precious moments!

Happy days in Spain, Pantglas2! What a special reunion tonight for grandMattie with DS1’s arrival! Happy landings to him. ?.

I hope the CT scan goes as well as possible for your DH, Gagagran. Family support is such a blessing at such times.

Yesterday was rather sombre here as I received the news from the husband of my best friend at college, with whom I shared a flat for two years, that she had died of a heart attack in January. They live in Cumbria and we are only in touch at Christmas. She was a week younger than me, so 70 when she passed away.

Sorry to put a dampener on the happy mood but I’m still very upset. ✝️

Urmstongran Fri 17-Dec-21 07:17:30

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s dry and mild. We leave in half an hour to mind the grandchildren. I’m to take L’il Miss to the hair salon round their corner if possible for a dry cut. Mum think her unruly hair is looking wild and so far (she’s 5y next month) she’s managed to do her best with it when she’s been in the bath! She hasn’t been keen on going so far but apparently she’s amenable to the idea this morning ha! Wish me luck.

Here’s Matt. Have a good Friday all who can. x

Grandmadinosaur Fri 17-Dec-21 07:14:42

Good morning from dark East Yorkshire. Very envious of that sun pantglas

Yesterday I got a lot of jobs done but time ran away with me so I didn’t get the baking done. Maybe it will get done today.
I need to do a food shop which could be this afternoon. I also want to make a start on wrapping presents. I did some yesterday that I need to post and will get them sent off today.
Good to hear that West side story lives up ti expectations Mick I’m going to see it on Monday.

An exciting day for you GM enjoy your time together.

Take care all.?

Michael12 Fri 17-Dec-21 07:12:51

As to the film , it was a multi screen cinema ,and only 8 in on the time of showing , as to the covid passport , I had my vaccination ready t show but they was not bothered to much , OK as I except a facemask that was there.
Mick

Jaxjacky Fri 17-Dec-21 07:12:33

Good morning all from a dark, dry S Hants, still mild.
The day is here gMattie, hurray!
More ?for your DH’s scan Gaga.
Pleased you enjoyed the film Mick
I had another busy day yesterday, a quieter one planned today, Tesco delivering pm, a few phone calls to make and that’s it, in theory!

brook2704 Fri 17-Dec-21 07:08:06

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s dark and feels a bit chilly.
I’m just a teeny weeny bit jealous pants - enjoy the Spanish sunshine you lucky lady!
I’m so much looking forward to going out today after my 10 day isolation so I’m awake early with excitement! I would have probably gone back to the gym for my Aqua class but that’s been cancelled so I’m going into town this morning and then round to see DGC after school. Oooh and I need to fit in a food shop sometime too
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings ?

GrannyGravy13 Fri 17-Dec-21 07:03:52

Nannagarra Fri 17-Dec-21 06:44:41

Good morning from dark but dry Sefton.
Your excitement at the thought of DS1 arriving is infectious, GrandMattie.
Tales of nativity plays are a joy to read. Are there any more?
?for MrGagagran’s CT scan today.
Cripes, Scentia, you’re such a busy woman!
Cards have been posted, presents wrapped, three deliveries are imminent and if it’s not sorted by now well it couldn’t have been that important, could it? ?
Smiles, flamingos and warm wishes are winging their way to you all.
???

kittylester Fri 17-Dec-21 06:44:06

Good morning all from a chilly North Leicestershire.

The recycling lorry has just gone down the road but we are up early as the tiler is coming again.

DGS5 had his end of term concert on Wednesday but just sat on his teacher's lap looking embarrassed to be anywhere near all his singing classmates. grin

Beechnut Fri 17-Dec-21 06:42:42

Good Morning everyone from Severnside. It’s dark and I didn’t take notice of whether it was dry or damp outside. Not that it matters much.

Off to do my weekly shop and a visit to the farm shop on the way home.

I’m sure you will enjoy the nativity Scentia. As Gaga says it will be treasured memories all the extra bits the little ones put in.
I guess you won’t be going to bed Mattie until your son safely walks through your door.

Have a good day all ?

grandMattie Fri 17-Dec-21 06:41:50

DS was given a special certificate to explain the noise from the metal detectors. Very amusing!
Thank you for all your best wishes. X

Scentia Fri 17-Dec-21 06:31:01

Ooh Mattie exciting times, having your boy home. Hope he gets through security with those pins in his hand!
