Good morning from Misty Leicestershire - the toilet was fixed yesterday so DD and SiL (and dog) are on their way!

Oh grandMattie I do hope that test result comes soon.
Maw we were prepared to cart all the food to London if the plumbing problems persisted. As you say it is what Mums do.
Mick hope you have a lovely Christmas and kitty hope your day is full of joy!
Lins good to see you back and great news Sar.

Thinking about you all and hope you have a good day.

Nannagarra Thu 23-Dec-21 08:59:34

Good morning from the Sefton coast.
Have a brilliant time in the IoW, Mick. Thank you for opening up each day.
Great news from Sar53, kitty, Blue and olddudders. Your turn next Mattie. ? In fact if I could advance time today for the PCR result you await and for muse who is to have a double MRI I would.
Sending wishes for a speedy recovery to Pantglas, Grandmabatty and our very brave hulahoop.
‘Carry On’ Marydoll. That made me chuckle!
Today we’re taking our DGD to see the reindeer* in the local garden centre. If only I could post videos on here! Instead you’ll have to imagine them singing carols. They are naff but miniGarra and I love them.
*Can you spot the difference?
Whatever you’re doing, have the best day you can.
?????

Morning all

Mick enjoy your Christmas on the IOW, thank you so much for opening this lovely friendly thread each day.

Sar53 wonderful news about your DD’s biopsy, something else to celebrate.

kittylester I hope your DD has a fabulous day, a Christmas wedding is so special (my DD had an idiot, know how you feel)

Gingster sorry your Christmas plans have been scuppered by Covid, I guess you will have to smile and carry-on like many others this year.

MayBeMaw mover over International Rescue for mums to the rescue

We are picking up the Turkey and gammon this morning then it’s general pottering.

We had a phone call from DD at 5ish last night to say she had a puncture on a narrow, dark country lane. RAC were next to useless even though she had The Imp crying in the car. We dashed out to assist, she was also helped by a passing dog walker and the man in a house down the road when he arrived home. The dog walker has just rang to check she was ok, how kind.

Happy Christmas Eve Eve ??????

Keep safe and well folks ?‍♀️??

Good Morning all from a considerably milder S Welsh coast. It has been a very difficult time in the Lins family so haven't felt like posting for some months. Our pregnant dil caught covid in October despite being double vaxxed and super careful. She is a sweet girl and I felt so sorry for her, naturally she couldn't take any medication because of the baby which is due next month. We are travelling to our son and dil's tomorrow and they are coming to us on Christmas Day. The local butcher is delivering a turkey crown this morning.

Very good news for your DD Sar, she and your family will certainly enjoy Christmas now.
Congratulations to your DD and new sil kitty.
Safe journey Maw as you say, it's what Mums do.
Good news Ash.
grandMattie ?
Hope Susan's daughter is better.
Sorry to hear about your DD and dgd's Gingster hope they will be better soon.
Marydoll only you can make an MRI a comical episode, I've had several over the years so I did laugh.
Lovely to have EV back.

Take care everyone and have a good day.

Nannytopsy Thu 23-Dec-21 08:47:44

Good morning Mick and all his followers. Grey and damp in Suffolk again after a lovely day yesterday. This looks set for a while. Let’s hope New Year brings a change in the weather.
Enjoy the wedding Kitty and best wishes from DH to his ex colleague, your new SiL.
Hope things improve GM - there are lots of good wishes here this morning for you.
Good news on the negative PCRs and commiserations to those who can’t make the planned Christmas, like us.
DiL brought us two grandchildren and two bags of washing ( all sheets and towels ?) last night. Their tumble drier has died. I have only just cleared the last lot! As Maw says, it’s what we do!
The DGC want to bake today and there is crafting to do. I had better get started then!
I hope the day is kind to everyone!

Grandmajean Thu 23-Dec-21 08:44:30

Late this morning.

harrigran Thu 23-Dec-21 08:38:14

Good morning from the NE where it is dry and not too cold.
Going shopping with DD and SIL, fridge is empty as I have been unable to shop for a week.
Gifts for GDs wrapped yesterday and they will get money for clothes, adults do not get gifts.
Had a phone call from an ex neighbour, she said she thought I would appreciate someone to speak to rather than a card, what a lovely gesture.
Take care everyone, the infection rate is soaring.

Susan56 Thu 23-Dec-21 08:35:55

baubles Thu 23-Dec-21 08:25:59

Happy wedding day to your DD Kitty. I’m sure you’ll all have a wonderful time.
I well remember your tales of the idiot!

Marydoll Thu 23-Dec-21 08:25:49

Oh Kate, you have reminded me I need to contact you. I lost your address, but will email you! Between the Covid warriors and medical appointments, the last few weeks have gone in the blink of an eye.
So sorry to hear about the boys.

We received an unexpected video call from Dollie yesterday. She wasn't her usual, chirpy self, but not complaining about missing school and a few birthday parties. sad. ?

monk08 Thu 23-Dec-21 08:21:42

NanKate Thu 23-Dec-21 08:19:16

Hello NannyJ ?

NanKate Thu 23-Dec-21 08:18:28

Good morning Mick and All.

After an absence of a few weeks from GM I thought I would pop in to say how pleased I am to hear about the wedding celebrations at the KittyLester household. Have a wonderful day ??❤️

We were supposed to be setting off to our DS’s for Xmas today but we got a phone call yesterday to say he had just tested positive for COVID I’m so disappointed that it is the second year we won’t be with our DGSs. This scenario must be happening all over the country.

You did make me laugh Marydoll your visit to hospital could be a scene from a Carry On film.

Have a great hols Mick I love the Isle of Wight.

NannyJan53 Thu 23-Dec-21 08:18:12

Good morning from a dark and damp Black Country.

Spent a pleasant afternoon yesterday with my friend who lives nearby, and who I have known since we were 18! Sampled one of her mince pies made with orange flavoured pastry.

Good news Sar53 so happy for your DD

Hope you all have a lovely day kitty and every happiness to your DD.

grandMattie flowers

Have a lovely break Mick

cornergran Thu 23-Dec-21 08:11:06

Morning Mick, morning All from a windy, chilly corner of Somerset. Sky looks heavy.

A successful day doing ‘stuff’ yesterday. Admin, sausage roll making and an early afternoon cuppa with a friend on today’s agenda.

Oh grandMattie, I’m sorry you’re so down flowers. Safe travels maw, as you say it’s what Mums do. Good news sar, I can feel the relief. Enjoy every minute kitty, an exciting day for you all. Happy Christmas mick, enjoy your break.

There seem to be so many families impacted by covid and other health issues, get well wishes to all. Take care everyone. Hope Thursday is kind to us all.

Marydoll Thu 23-Dec-21 08:09:44

I forgot the wedding was today, Kitty, I don't why I thought it was after Christmas,
Have a wonderful time, your daughter deserves happiness after being married to that idiot!
The mention of the idiot made me think of Phoenix and her curse!

Gwenisgreat1 Thu 23-Dec-21 08:03:10

Today we are cleaning the house, getting the Christmas tableware out and collecting our prescriptions. I am also hoping to see GS at some point. I haven’t seen him since last Thursday as they’ve had a visitor. We might do some baking.

Take care everyone.

Marydoll Thu 23-Dec-21 08:02:21

Good morning all from a chilly Glasgow.
Safe journey Mick, enjoy your break and thank you once again for your thread.
In case we don't hear from you, I'm sure they have wi fi on the aisle of Wight, Merry Christmas from me! Try and pop in and let us know you are ok.

Dear GM, you sound so sad, I hope things improve for you. Its been a very difficult year for you. ? Hoping all those PCRs are back.
Sar, great news! What a relief.

My turkey is being delivered today and also a Tesco order.
Who knows what is coming, DD kept making changes, now I haven't a clue what I have ordered.

Yesterday's hospital trip went well, ONCE we eventually got there. It was pitch black when set out and I am convinced a wee man ?‍? has been going around Glasgow, during lockdown, painting new bus lanes. I spent the whole journey, shouting, bus lane bus lane!!!!
When we eventually got there, we could see the hospital, but couldn't find the way in. We kept going round and round in circles, with the sat nav, repeating , Re-calculate, re-calculate over and over again! ? I'm sure MrMDoll's bp was through the roof. It was so dark, we couldn't see a thing.
However, we eventually got parked right at the door with my blue badge.

Pleasantly surprised, I saw the scanner was an open ended one, rather than the usual one which feels like being a ⚰. My big nose usually touches the roof!! ?
The radiographer inquired as to where I usually went for MRIs and was most impressed by my list of various venues, some which no longer exist! .At the end, she asked how many ? I was giving her. ?
She awarded me ????? for being a model patient, I suspect that was actually because I had nodded off and couldn't possibly cause any mayhem, even if I wanted too! ?

Even better, was the fact that I didn't need to change into a hospital goonie, only having to take off my bra.
Inside, what can only be described as a cupboard, struggling to put it back on with no help, trying not to remove my dress, (stupid woman) there was a power cut and the tiny room became a black hole.⬛
I was stuck, with the dress on my head and no glasses! I couldn't see a thing. I initially thought that the light was on a timer, so I started feeling my way along the wall. When power came back on , I found my hand hovering above the red emergency switch! ?️
The last time I had an MRI, the fire alarm went off. I was oblivious, but DH said that there were firefighters running about. What a missed opportunity! ?
Muse has a double MRI today, I hope it goes well is stress free. ES, I hope your day is much improved from yesterday. ?

On returning home, I decided to phone my GP about some tests. The good news was it looks as if my usual heart problems aren't the cause of my very low oxygen levels, my RA is. ? When I told DD, she messaged, So it won't be your last Christmas after all Cheeky wee besom.
She hasn't understood the implications of this and at the moment, I have no intention of enlightening her.

I will love you and leave you all, as my mum used to say. For all those struggling, have a gentle and peaceful day. A special shout out for Auntieflo and also hulahoop, hoping she is recovering well.
I will now go and read all the posts.

Beechnut Thu 23-Dec-21 08:00:26

Good Morning everyone from Severnside where it is just getting light.
I have been out shopping already and filled the car with fuel. Not liking the dark driving much. I have an appoint later for my feet.

I’ll go back and read the thread. I’ve only read Mick’s so far.

Have a great day all and Mick enjoy your Christmas away. Now it’s been up and running for a few months I think that was a good idea of yours to include the date ??????
