Oh Mick. I do hope you have the best time on your holiday. Thanks so much for the last year of GM posts they have largely made my day each morning. Stay safe my friend and see you back on the 28th❤️

I am off on nanna duties today and as there is no nursery or gymnastics today we have a full day of doing ‘stuff’. That may include eating out, park, or even a trip to the supermarket. They are the only children I know who get excited about a trip round sainsbury’s?
Take care everyone and stay safe ❤️

Have a happy Christmas Mick. Travel safely. Stay safe and well.

Pantglas2 Thu 23-Dec-21 06:15:07

Morning Mick - have a lovely time on your Christmas travels, hope the weather is clement ?

I see we have a full sick bay (me included in the Spanish section - first cold in 6 years and I’m so vexed....??) I Hope a couple of days rest will see us all well enough to enjoy the day itself ?

Will pop in again later and read all your doings....?

NotAGran55 Thu 23-Dec-21 06:18:21

Good morning from West Berkshire.
Have a safe journey Mick, don’t forget your masks too! Have a very Happy Christmas and enjoy your break.

My last food bank shift today . It’s been incredible busy with donations and deliveries to our clients, and hopefully we have managed to make their Christmas a little brighter. Yesterday we delivered to 106 people.
Along with enough food for 7 days we have been giving a big bag of Christmas goodies and treats too.

If you have donated to any food bank then a HUGE thank you.

Have a good day and stay safe.

Don’t post often , but read the thread everyday

Have the best Christmas you can all of you ???

Gagagran Thu 23-Dec-21 06:33:22

Good Morning everyone from a milder south coast. Think the Isle of Wight will be the same Mick. Have a lovely holiday there.

We are off to get the click and collect from Tesco at 7. So glad I don't have to brave the crowds in there. Next visit is 31st December and then I am switching to deliveries in January to see if we prefer that to turning out to collect.

A quiet day planned but it may change, as they often do. Lots of TV recordings, my jigsaw to continue the struggle with (it's quite hard) and the usual household chores.

Safe travels to anyone setting off and hope we all have the best day possible. sunshine

Good morning from Essex by the sea.
Have a lovely time on the Isle of Wight Mick and a Very Happy Christmas to you ?.
We had some lovely news yesterday, my daughter's biopsies came back as clear. As she said last night 'now I can enjoy Christmas '.
We have two gammons to cook today, some ironing that won't do itself and some admin that must be done.
Enjoy Thursday everyone and stay safe xxx

grandMattie Thu 23-Dec-21 06:47:54

Good morning from a dawning E Kent.
Have a lovely time on IOW, Mick.
Too miserable to post. ???❤️?

ixion Thu 23-Dec-21 06:51:40

Have a lovely break Mick
Thank you you for always being here when I start my day!

GrandMattie ?

Ashcombe Thu 23-Dec-21 07:01:24

Good morning all from a very happy Ashcombe and olddudders in Torbay, despite the drizzle. DH has a negative PCR result at last! My first thought was for grandMattie’s DS - I hope he soon has his, too. So unfair. ?

Safe travels to Mick and thank you for being there every morning to help start some dark days and happy ones for this lovely, supportive community. Enjoy your break!

NotAGran55: what wonderful and much needed work you do for the needy! I’m sure it’s rewarding but a sobering reflection of our times that it’s needed at all.

Stay safe and we’ll, everyone. ?????

If your DS’s PCR comes through today you can still go can’t you? It won’t be the first time we might have wished Christmas wasn’t for another three months.
I had to bring my (cooking etc) plans forwards by 24 hours and will be driving over to Norfolk this morning to pick up D and GS plus dog and the Boxing Day ham etc. Their car decided to pack up on them yesterday when they were planing to go home to London and then drive up to Birmingham on Christmas Eve. It’s complicated but because of the dog, their stuff and the ham, they couldn’t get the train back so SIL is going home on his own by train and will visit his Mum in the care home tomorrow morning, then borrow his father’s car and take all the presents etc up to Birmingham. The others will spend the night here then drive up with me tomorrow. There might have been other solutions but I am happy to help out - it’s what we Mums do!
Have a lovely Christmas on the IoW, Mick, as the others have said, do wear a face covering and keep safe.
Keep well everybody!

kittylester Thu 23-Dec-21 07:08:27

Good morning all from a dampish North Leicestershire.

Have a good time Mick - have you nominated a stand in?

Exciting day here - DD3 is getting married!! It will be a very small ceremony followed by a meal in a local restaurant but she and DGD3 are coming here to get ready. As some of you know, she was married to the Idiot and had 2 lovely children. (He was so awful that the wonderful phoenix felt it necessary to write a curse for him) The man she is marrying is a fabulous father to her children and they have added the Wondrous Wolfie to their family.

So a lovely day in prospect - whatever the weather!

MayBeMaw Thu 23-Dec-21 07:10:44

Wishing you and them a wonderful day kittylester - it will be an easy anniversary for them to remember! ??

Good morning Mick, morning all from dark and soggy South Lanarkshire.

Happy Christmas Mick, have a good holiday.

gMattie, I’m thinking of you. I don’t understand why it is taking so long for the outcome of the PCR.

DH has a hospital appointment this morning, he didn’t have to postpone after all as my DDoutLaw has taken time off work to collect the children from nursery. There’s no gymnastics here either Scentia so we’ll have to find something else to amuse them.

Good news about your daughter sar.

Wishing everyone a peaceful day, I'm thinking especially of the many coping with sadness or worries. thanks?

AGAA4 Thu 23-Dec-21 07:23:26

Good morning everyone. Have a good holiday Mick and thank you for this thread.
pantglas I hope your cold is better soon.
I had a very good time with my family yesterday. The restaurant which would normally be packed was not that busy.
Hope you all have a pleasant day. So near to Christmas Day now.

ginny Thu 23-Dec-21 07:35:48

Good morning.
Have a lovely trip *Mick.
*
Plenty to do this morning and then looking after DGS 3 this afternoon.
Hope those travelling have safe journeys and wish a happy day for Kittys daughter and family.
Hope those missing PCR tests turn up.
A Thursday smile for you all.

Pittcity Thu 23-Dec-21 07:37:51

Good morning from a dark, cold, damp Colchester. Yesterday was my favourite sort of winter day, sunny and crisp. Today it reverts to damp and grey.

Foray to a supermarket to pick up veg and a few bits we need and Jay's online quiz tonight.
My inbox is full of cancellations as more and more people test positive. We now have very little that is going ahead in the next few days.

Enjoy your trip Mick and have a Happy Christmas.

Big hugs to Grandmattie and all who need one.

Love to all ? x

Gingster Thu 23-Dec-21 07:38:39

Good morning all and it’s still very dark here in Essex. I’m just waiting for a bit of light and I will shop for the last time ?.

Sar - fabulous news for your family, - it will make Christmas so much better for you all. ❤️

Mick have a great holiday and thanks for your reliable opening for this lovely thread. It’s a great start to every day to see what everyone’s plans are. Always support for those who need it and laughs as well along the way. Thankyou! .

My 2 Gd’s now have Covid along with their mum. It just seems to be like a sniffly cold and hopefully will stay that way. ?. But of course it has scuppered all our Christmas plans. ?.

Yesterday I made more sausage rolls, a lemon cheesecake and a banoffi pie, as everyone else will be coming to us in Boxing Day
, now!

Hoping you all have a good day and safe journey to all who are travelling. ??.

Grandmabatty Thu 23-Dec-21 07:39:04

Good morning all from Polmont. 3° here, still dark and looks wet outside.
Grandmattie ? Mick have a lovely time. Thank you for always opening this thread for us. I appreciate it.*Pantsglas*?. Kittylester that's wonderful news. Congratulations to your dd and her husband to be. What a lovely day for you.
Yesterday's shopping trip with mum was challenging but successful. Then I had a visit from a friend in the afternoon. I haven't seen her for a while so it was really nice to blether.
Today will be busy. I'm off to Tesco soon to get last minute food. Then I have to deliver presents at ten to a friend who is housebound. Then my aunt is coming over to deposit presents and bring a nut roast for ds. I'm not feeling great. A bit achy which is the direct result of the booster and flu vaccinations but I'll soldier on. Have a good day all.

Grandmabatty Thu 23-Dec-21 07:40:11

Sar I forgot to mention the wonderful news about your daughter. Definitely she will be able to relax and enjoy Christmas.

Jaxjacky Thu 23-Dec-21 07:42:35

Good morning all from a mild S Hants, I’ll wave Mick and hope you have a lovely Christmas, I too am grateful for this thread.
Excellent news Sar, thé best present. And you too Ash.
gMattie I’m so sorry ?
Present swop at son’s this afternoon, it will be brief and outdoors. The duck will be out to defrost and my daughter has requested extra stuffing to take home on Boxing Day, so I’ll make that.
For those who can, enjoy your day ???.

BlueSapphire Thu 23-Dec-21 07:44:40

Good morning everyone from a still dark and damp Northampton, 4°C today.

Glad to say my PCR test was negative, got a text and email from them yesterday. I did one
on Monday as I didn't feel 100% last weekend, shaky and shivery, but now feeling relieved.

Iced the cake yesterday, so that's all Christmas prep done. Just got to write cards for the family, and put a little something extra in the DGDs' cards. The present I had ordered for younger DGD has not arrived at the shop yet, so I am glad I got something else to be on the safe side.

Cats are off to the cattery at lunchtime with a bagful of treats, toys, fleece blanket and grooming brushes. Thank goodness they are well behaved and go into their carriers quite easily.

Will have a hoover round once they have gone, and start to get my bag packed for tomorrow. Not forgetting two big bags of presents and one of food!

Hope you have a lovely day kitty! So exciting, a wedding in the family.

Wishing safe travels to all on the road today. Have a good holiday Mick.

GrandMattie flowersflowers.

Beechnut Thu 23-Dec-21 08:00:26

Good Morning everyone from Severnside where it is just getting light.
I have been out shopping already and filled the car with fuel. Not liking the dark driving much. I have an appoint later for my feet.

I’ll go back and read the thread. I’ve only read Mick’s so far.

Have a great day all and Mick enjoy your Christmas away. Now it’s been up and running for a few months I think that was a good idea of yours to include the date ??????
