Happy Christmas from rainy Colchester. I am still in bed as we have no plans to go anywhere or meet anyone today. DH is up with the TV on as usual.
DS will get up about lunchtime and DH will cook turkey and all the trimmings.

We had a lovely family day yesterday with the Covid free ones. Putting DGS into his Christmas PJs and leaving a carrot for Rudolph etc sparked a conversation where we decided that Santa wouldn't need a key as they had a chimney in their new house. Simple things but priceless.

I found my festive flamingos in my jewellery box.

DGD who is 6 has learnt how to ring me which is a delight as she also includes little brother unknown to her mum and dad.
It reminds me of Bellasnana whose GD put her in her pocket. Wonder if she still does that.

Good morning and Happy Christmas from a damp mild rural Oxfordshire! DH, DS1 and I are off to my youngest DS and his family for lunch later, this is the first time in my adult life that I haven't cooked Xmas lunch! Thinking of those who are alone today or those who are troubled or sad.

Happy Christmas from Devon to all the lovely grans on here from a lurker too. This thread always makes me think in the bigger picture that I am just a tiny grain of sand down on the beach. I hope you all enjoy your day Off to let the dog splash through the waves now on his first Christmas.

I also miss all the excitement of an early morning wake up with young children but don’t miss the mess and the tiredness later on.

Safe journey, if you are travelling, for those who are spending Christmas with family, have a joyful time time and for those of us for whom Covid has scuppered our plans, we can celebrate at a later date.
Also, thoughts for those who have lost a loved one this year or are their own. A few of our regulars have experienced such sad and painful losse this year. ?

Maria, I have been thinking a lot about your wee grandson and hope you managed to have a video chat with him today. He is in my thoughts and prayers.

I need to get moving, DD is expecting breakfast, when she arrives and we have a Zoom call with Dollie at 10am. Its so painful, not seeing her, when she only lives ten minutes away! ?
After that, we are off to stay overnight with DS2, it's the first time in forty four years I haven't spent Christmas in my own home, it all feels very strange, to say the least!!

Had a lovely FaceTime chat with DD and some of her family in Australia last night, it was their early Christmas morning, I really wished I was there!

I’m glad I’m not cooking dinner today. Baton firmly handed over to youngest daughter and son in law (they have more space). The grandchildren will be tearing into their presents about now I imagine!

Good morning from the NE, it sounds windy.
My sister and BIL called in yesterday so I had company for an hour.
I spent the evening watching the carols from King's college and the one done by the Duchess of Cambridge.
I did not have the heart to cook for myself so had a cup of soup in front of the TV.
DD will be coming some time before lunch and DS and family will arrive this afternoon.

Today we're out for lunch to DS1 and family, our first time not hosting in forty four years! It will be a nice break. Am taking a few veggie dishes and pigs in blankets, and some homemade Christmas cake.
The only downside is DS3 is still isolating until Monday or awaiting two negative lateral flow tests. He's ok about it and wants to do the right thing. We'll do Christmas dinner with him when he's clear.

At least the roads should be a bit less busy than normal.

It’s going to be bittersweet today, but I shall put my best face on and enjoy the little girls. It’s the first Christmas with them for about 6 years, and over 10 years for DS1! (When he complained about the cold, I told him it was rich coming from him, who had spent Christmas in the Himalayan foothills some years back!) ?

Happy Christmas everyone! It's dark and damp here on the south coast but quiet and calm within our home and DH is still in bed. I managed a lie in until 6.30am which is unusual for me. Glad to see he's done some more of the difficult jigsaw we have ongoing!

Expecting to hear from our family later and hope all is well. DiL was still waiting for her CPR test result last night. I was pleased my LFT was negative and I do feel much better today, thankfully.

Soon be off to the beach for a christmas. Day dip The official one has been cancelled but a few of us will try and keep the spirits up with an unofficial one (I have a Victorian ladies swim costume to go in in) then home for a hot shower and off to my eldests for the rest of the day

Happy Christmas. My daughter and younger son arrived a couple of days ago. Son made the best fish pie for dinner last night. Elder son, partner and their five year old daughter should arrive today by 12 noon. They are staying until tomorrow. I can’t remember the last time all my family were under one roof. Probably before the ‘plague’. I too have typed up a time plan for today’s lunch! I hope you all have a wonderful day.

Good morning and a very happy Christmas to everyone. After a lovely evening yesterday with two little believers and keeping guard while Santa arrived, I seem to be the only one awake in this house. I don’t want to be up before the children erupt so I am waiting for the sound of excited voices before I can get my first cup of tea!

I wish everyone a good and contented day, especially those of us who are alone or have had plans disrupted by Covid. We are still waiting with fingers crossed for a test result, taken three days ago, which, hopefully will allow the only one of my daughters without children, to join family today.

Thanking everyone for sharing their lives this year, it’s been such a good start to my days. Happy Christmas and love to all ?????
