Oh dear, I have slept for far too long, must be making up for late nights and broken sleeps.
Thank you for opening up Jax, just as well no one was waiting for me to to the honours?
A dank day in Glasgow but looking forward to a please yourself day now that the festivities are over for another year. We had the usual relaxing good day with DD1 and the girls, all gifts much appreciated but my gift from GD2 had me reaching for a tissue. A homemade, framed, six scrabble tiles spelling Granny, to which she wrote underneath, may only add up to a certain number but you are one in a million to me. I too was feeling nostalgic remembering christmases past.

I would be going home too GrandM! Enough said.
I am pleased you enjoyed your time with family Marydoll. It’s a buggeration when it results in exhausting you but I hope a day of rest helps to recharge your batteries with a good helping of energy.
A warm welcome Lizzifish. The acronyms will eventually become second nature ?

Best wishes for a pleasant day to all.

Sorry missed good morning as we have been busy. Messaged DS for update DGS2 still not keen on feeding tube and he is very hungry. He has been given an interactive screen to improve dexterity first thing he did was upload McDonald's app and try to order a meal ? He doesn't understand he can't swallow. He is making slow progress and slight improvement of mobility in right hand. We went for a long walk in very thick fog hope the fresh air will do us good. We shall catch up on housework and a spot of TV before video call this afternoon

Welcome Lizzie. All explained at the top of the page, left hand side. Acronyms tab.

Hi, new to this! Is there a bibliography anywhere? Not sure about the abbreviations! I get SIL,, but DD, DS2 etc??

EllanVannin Mon 27-Dec-21 12:14:29

Only just enlarged the Three Kings,*Fanny*, hilarious. I thought it was the usual Nativity scene grin---must get the eyes tested.

Marydoll Mon 27-Dec-21 12:11:34

I double dare you Fanny, or you must do a forfeit! wink

Urmstongran Mon 27-Dec-21 11:43:43

Good morning all from a cloudy northwest coast.
Really enjoyed the last two days apart from my shoulder seizing up (an old war wound) but easing now.
The painting of the front of the house has started, lovely energetic chap who starts very early in the morning which gets me going too.
DD DS and GD here still, very nice and DD birthday tomorrow so more wrapping of presents…
Love the Three Kings!

Good morning everyone from cool, calm Lancashire, currently 7°C. I’m late to the thread yet again. Today will be a day of not very much after a warm and lovely day yesterday, meeting up with family at my sister’s house. Very tired by the time we got home last night, 2 years since we were together. I haven’t read the thread yet, warmest wishes to everyone.

FannyCornforth Mon 27-Dec-21 11:20:40

Thank you Urms!
I’ll happily post one every day, if that’s okay. It’s usually Peter Brookes in The Times, and of a more political bent.
I do think that I might like to start regularly posting on here; the problem is that I rarely have very much to say (I know that that will come as a surprise to many!) smile

Urmstongran Mon 27-Dec-21 11:16:39

? to you SkyBubble!

Urmstongran Mon 27-Dec-21 11:15:34

Good one FannyCornforth! ?
May I put you down for a regular Monday chuckle? It does make a nice start to our mornings on here. x

Lovely snowscape scene Serendipity thanks for sharing. I love looking at snow, especially if I’m warm behind glass, watching softly falling fat flakes. I love the way it prettifies everything and muffles sound. Nice to just sit and appreciate nature’s wonders. To often we dash about and don’t really take the time to just look.

joyce6135 Mon 27-Dec-21 10:56:11

Morning all from East Northants where it’s murky outside. Had a lovely day at brothers yesterday, all his kids and families were there, some I hadn’t seen for ages. Today, like another poster I’m chilling in leggings and catching up on some television, then may start a new book. Looking forward to it! Have a safe and peaceful day everyone.

Skybubble Mon 27-Dec-21 10:53:42

Apologies…good morning all!

FannyCornforth Mon 27-Dec-21 10:50:59

Good morning all from a dull, drizzly Derby.
Urms in the absence of Matt, I’ll share this Morland cartoon from The Times.
Wishing us all a pleasant and peaceful day.

Morning all,

Yet another grey, dismal start to the day in South Yorkshire. I find this weather so depressing. Give me bright, frosty days anytime. No snow, though, like you have had Serendippity22. I’m guessing you must be somewhere in North Yorkshire.

A day of sorting out here, I think - emptying the clothes horse, putting another load in and changing the bed sheets, I think. Other than that, I’m not sure. This awful weather doesn’t entice me outdoors.

Sorry to read that some of you are feeling unwell or have family showing symptoms of covid and hope that you have better days ahead.

Those on your travels, enjoy yourself.

Well, I’d better get on. Take care.

We had a lovely Christmas, relatives arrived Christmas Eve afternoon, 2 adults and 2 children, they left this morning and I am now so happy to have my own space back! I love it when they come but love it just as much when they leave. Am I the only one that feels like that?

HAZBEEN Mon 27-Dec-21 10:38:59

Good morning everyone. I am keeping to my promise (to myself) to post and also to try and motivate myself more. This last year has been such a strange one at times and my health wasn't very good, but now thats more settled its time to pull on the big girl pants!
Today I intend to sort out my crafting cupboard, everything needs getting out and organised. Then I might just have a browse on some of the supply websites and restock! Any excuse to buy fabric, wool etc!!
Stay safe all and hugs for those in need. Special hugs for all little ones who are not well at this time.

??to all. Good Morning from a wet/dry/wet Cornwall. It will be one of those days. If we chance that coast walk, it will rain. ?

I had a very bad night’s sleep and can’t think why. Just hoping a shower will perk me up.
Snack food today. I’m fancying a turkey, Brie and cranberry sauce toasted sandwich.

Well done with the TV EV

Have a flambulishous ? day everyone ????? Take care all.

Good morning all from mild and pleasant South Lanarkshire.

Thanks for opening up Jax. I’m late as I’m having to do the morning routine as DH isn’t too well and can’t got outside anyway. So beans have been ground and coffee made, daft dug has been walked, decaf tea and toast made and served to the invalid and now I’m sitting down with my coffee.

DD came over yesterday with a bag of delicious leftovers from her Christmas dinner which she left at the end of the path. I must say I thoroughly enjoyed our meal last night, always have preferred the leftovers at Christmas.

Our bedroom window is open in all weathers Newquay, I may close it during the day if the temperature is sun zero but at bedtime it’s opened again.

Hope you feel a bit better today Marydoll.

I feel for everyone who’s plans have gone awry and hope none of the positive tests result in anything more than mild symptoms.

Wishing you all a peaceful day.

EkwaNimitee Mon 27-Dec-21 10:20:01

Good morning Everyone from rainy Surrey. Parent fitness training by DS1 is thus postponed. One cat is sensibly ensconced on a bed, the other is deeply frustrated as he wants out but doesn’t want to get wet.
Hopefully, we are out for lunch IF we can get a table. Meanwhile I’m reading tales of the supernatural by Conan Doyle having discovered Sherlock Holmes wasn’t his only oeuvre.
Off towards home tomorrow with DS2. We are stopping off in Nottingham to see my sister.
It’s not good to see covid affecting so many plans over the holidays. Let’s hope for better times in the New Year.
The best possible day to you all.
