New Year resolutions 2021, successful or not?

My NYR for 2021 was to cut down on single use plastic.
On the whole it has been very successful, my IKEA freezer bags have been reused many times, shampoos etc have been purchased in 1 litre bottles.
Good habits have been adopted and will hopefully stay.

A second NYR has not been so easy but I can blame COVID and the lockdowns!

How did you all do?

I don't remember making any, but I have also cut down on plastic where possible and systemised several areas of the housekeeping. (There hasn't been much else to do this year. )

I now make prolific use of the "reminder" function on my phone so that things get done at regular intervals and not haphazardly. (Such jobs as turn mattresses, descale kettle, defrost freezer.)

And my Duolingo chart shows that I have done over 300 days of learning Polish.

So, without actually making any resolutions, I have made some slight improvements. For the decluttering, I've given myself till my 70th birthday to tackle the main jobs. (Three years to go!)

I did dry January last year and basically decided to just carry on, and did basically the whole year. I wasnt a heavy drinker, couple of glasses of wine a few times a week, but I cant tell you how pleased I am with myselfgrin. I had a couple of drinks on holiday and over Christmas but back to no drinking in January. This year I want to improve my eating habits.

I must stop buying food as though there's going to be a siege.

As I said last year, I’m already a vegetarian, gave up alcohol, never smoked, do my 10000 steps every day, where can I improve? grin

In my early career the words etched on my office door were ‘Veritas et justitia praevalebit’. Truth and justice will prevail.
I have tried to live my life with this firm belief.
Every year I resolve to continue to stand up for the victims. To defend the innocent against injustice and to attempt to right wrongs even when it gets me into trouble.
That and to eat more healthily.

I can’t even remember what it was. grin

It’s usually something to do with more exercise and less internet, so I’ve probably failed miserably.

The only resolution I have kept (made about 30 tears ago!) has been to have fresh flowers in the house at all times.

They bring me huge joy and it means I get to go to the village flower shop every week too.
